The reason for this is simple - popular fragrances start being used as scents for ancillary products like soaps, cleaning products, home fragrances, etc. This is what happened to the “blue” fragrance genre. Abercrombie and Fitch Fierce was one of the first in this genre, and its immense popularity caused it to be copied by pretty much everyone. The peak of the “blue” scent DNA was Bleu de Chanel, released in 2010. That fragrance is one of the few that still holds up today, just because it is such a thoughtful and amazing creation. On the other hand, the vast majority of the others are out of fashion. The Mahogany Teakwood line from Bath and Body Works pretty much sounded the death knell for this genre. There are candles that smell like it, hand soaps that smell like it, creams, car air fresheners, etc. It’s played out. Let’s get back to David Beckham Classic Blue. It is not the original “blue” scent (Fierce), nor the best (Bleu de Chanel). So essentially, it is one of the many copies of Fierce that came out during the 2010s. It’s not a “bad” scent but there is really no reason to buy it. Even if you want a budget friendly version of Fierce, Montblanc Legend EDP is better (you can get it for ~$30 at discounters). David Beckham Classic Blue, even though it is less than 10 years old, is a relic and a product of its time that should just stay in the past.

How you rate fragrance I guess comes down to the value you assign to what is effectively scented water/alcohol and a perceived value of the brand. The David Beckham brand has over 30 scents now, of which Classic Homme is one. There are a whole list of included 'tones' and 'notes' which I'm afraid mean nothing to me. All I know is that woody or musky scents seem to smell the same on my skin as they do in the bottle. The more citrus dominant ones never work well on my skin. This Classic Homme comes in a box and bottle that have subtle chevron markings, it's certainly not ostentatious like some of the celebrity branded perfumes are. When first sprayed on, I initially detected a citrus lemony type smell so assumed this wasn't going to go well. After a few minutes though that diminished, leaving a wood/leather type scent that was very pleasant. My wife liked it and commented that it was the type of scent that works well for me. It was on the back of my hand and I found myself sniffing it approvingly every so often, probably a good sign. It lasted around 4 or 5 hours. So it's a nice scent but the biggest problem is that it reminded me of lots of different aftershaves I've been bought for Christmas and birthdays in the past. It has that kind of generic smell that's similar to lots of other things. The aftershaves that stand out have something distinctive about them, something that makes you immediately recognise it. This isn't one of those, which brings me back to value and price. The distinctive ones tend to be the most expensive, far more expensive than Classic Homme so the price is probably about right if maybe a little more expensive than similar products.

I think people would like this more, or at least I think I would probably like this more (or be more positively disposed to it), if it wasn't David Beckham. Not that I don't like David Beckham, because I actually think he's great, but it means that a scent by him - or indeed any celeb - doesn't really strike me as being a really nice perfume. However, I know that the Victoria Beckham perfume is delicious as I was gifted some. I love wearing it. I always get complimented on it so was keen to see if this one smelt as good It does! It's actually really really lovely and don't be put off by it being David Beckham (if yoy are like me are maybe not feeling like that's a good fit for a perfume. I've had a look at what you can get for the 45 price mark at 100ml. Examples today you can get Lacoste, Boss, Burberry, Kenzo, Herrera. The choices are endless. All of which i would choose over this Beckham fragrance. While the smell is pretty nice. It does not last for more than a couple of hours. It is 10:30am as i write this and the aftershave has been on since i left the house at 7am. I have asked around the office and nobody can smell this fragrance on me even when their nose is right at my skin. Complete failure in my opinion and for 45 you can get a nicer fragrance which will last the whole day. I do not recommend this aftershave. It is overpriced and doesn't last.
It comes in a simple box; the bottle is simple, too; personally, I would use wrapping paper to make it giftable. The pump releases the right amount of liquid, not making my neck overly wet. The scent is lovely, not overpowering, and perfect for my liking. However, the smell fades away quickly. I have to respray quite often. On the other hand, my wife doesn't like the scent. It's too overpowering for her. It's a purely personal preference, though, because, as we all know, everyone responds differently to scents, and even the same scent on two different people will smell differently. Hence, it is only possible to see if you'll like perfume by trying it on yourself first. I hope this review helps you to make a purchasing decision.
Pros: 1- Good for people who like low fragrance smell intensity and longevity. 2- It has a fresh masculine scent. Suitable to be used inside homes (not outdoors). Cons: 1- It won't last. You won't smell anything after a couple of hours ... even if you spray it intensely. I suggest using them just before you wear a jacket if you want to go outside (in winter). However, after you remove your jacket, the fragrance smell will disappear within an hour or so. 2- There is nothing unique about its smell. It smells like a cheap fragrance. 3- I think it is overpriced with its poor performance and longevity.
The composition is bolder than the original fragrance, starting with fresh accords of pineapple, grapefruit and violet leaf. The heart consists of geranium, clary sage and apple, laid on the dense woody base of cashmere, patchouli and moss. This fragrance is suitable all year round spring, summer, autumn and winter. I would describe the scent as fresh and slightly fruity and can be worn as an everyday fragrance to the shop, gym, work, etc. Silage is weak to moderate and longevity is very poor. This fragrance lacks depth and I consider it to be a safe choice (if you want to blend in un-noticed), generic and very bland. The performance is very poor and you would only be able to get a decent performance if you were to apply it generously, Keyword here is decent ... MoreThe composition is bolder than the original fragrance, starting with fresh accords of pineapple, grapefruit and violet leaf. This David Beckham Classic Blue Eau de Toilette (100ml) has been approved by my brother who I got this for to test. He says that it is a lovely smelling product and that it smells nice on him (not all products do) and wears well (scent does not change to something less nice smelling) and for a good amount of time. He says he is going to keep the product and keep using as he really likes it; Plan B was to give to my teenage nephew if my brother did not like the scent. As you would expect, this product is nicely gift boxed and the bottle itself is simple and elegant in design. Priced around 33 at the time of this MyPerfumeShop Vine review, my brother has given it his thumbs up so we're awarding 5/5 stars.
This is a simply presented bottle of eau de toilette from the David Beckham fragrance range. It comes in a slightly textured glass bottle with a spray nozzle, which doesn't allow much control over the amount you apply and a single spray is probably enough. It isn't a hugely strong fragrance (so you might get away with a second spray) and has citrus notes initially before those fade to leave the woody undertones. I don't pick up any fruit in the scent. It is pleasant and refreshing, although I would like the citrus notes to last longer and the fragrance as a whole starts to fade pretty quickly. It'll probably do for an evening out, but expect to need to top up over the course of a day. This is nicely presented although the fragrance box is made of very thin card and doesn't feel strong enough for the bottle within, mine had a small tear on the front and visible ware (despite being wrapped in cellophane) on the corners. The bottle itself is minimalist in design which I quite like, the lid is quite tight it certainly wouldn't come off in a bag when travelling. The fragrance dispenses through a spray and the scent is really quite nice. The best way I could describe it would be sweet and spicy, not too overpowering. This would make a nice gift or an affordable everyday scent for yourself. Happy to recommend.
