The shorts are primarily cotton with the waistband being a type of Polyester material. It felt weird at first, but you'll hardly notice it afterward. I'm not a fan of cotton shorts, but these shorts are very comfortable!! I use them while doing squats. I'm a fan of zipper pockets since I like to make sure my personal belongings don't fall out as I'm working out. The pockets have ample space compared to any of the Adidas zipper pocket shorts, in my opinion. Overall a good buy.
Great shorts! I am an active 84 year old who loves wearing northface! These shorts with side pockets are the best I have purchased! I love wearing beltless shorts living in the Arizona! After playing tennis & a shower these shorts are perfect for shopping & walking around the center! Highly recommend the northface!

Some weird shorts once you see them. It has a drawstring with an adjustable device. But no matter how tight you do it, they loosen and feels weird. For that reason I would size down. But also beware of the loosening of these after tightening.
