David's Kosher Salt

Kosher salt is a type of coarse salt that is commonly used in cooking and food preparation. It gets its name from its use in the koshering process, where it is used to draw out blood from meat according to Jewish dietary laws. Unlike table salt, which has fine grains and often contains additives like iodine, kosher salt has larger, irregularly shaped grains. This makes it ideal for various culinary applications, as its texture allows for better control when seasoning food. One of the main advantages of kosher salt is its ability to enhance the flavors of dishes without overpowering them. Its coarse texture makes it easier to sprinkle and distribute evenly over food, ensuring a more balanced taste. Additionally, the larger grains of kosher salt dissolve more slowly, allowing for a gradual release of flavor during cooking. Another benefit of kosher salt is its versatility. It can be used for seasoning meat, poultry, and fish, as well as vegetables and grains. Its larger grains also make it suitable for rimming cocktail glasses or adding a finishing touch to baked goods. When using kosher salt in recipes, it is important to note that its volume is not the same as table salt due to the difference in grain size. As a general rule, one teaspoon of table salt is equivalent to approximately 1½ teaspoons of kosher salt. In conclusion, kosher salt is a popular choice among chefs and home cooks due to its texture, versatility, and ability to enhance flavors. Its coarse grains and absence of additives make it a staple in many kitchens around the world.

I really like this salt. This is the first time buying it and I use it on my food every day. It mixes in very nicely and tastes great. The ingredients are simple: salt! Someone I know who would be considered to be a health expert says to avoid the sea salt because of the nasties that come with it and to instead go with kosher salt. The packaging is great and it's perfect to add to any of your recipes.

Taste wise, I actually cannot tell the difference between normal salt. But with same quantity, kosher salt is less salty.

Very Good Salt
14 July 2020

I had been looking for good kosher salt for awhile. The only kosher salt I could find near where Iive was coarse ground. It was coarse hard, I couldn't crush it between my fingers. This salt is good. I can easily crush it between my fingers, plus it's not so coarse that I can't use it as it is. Very good salt
