Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3422DWG

It could have been another refurbished unit sent. Regardless, It wasn't to be. After calibrating and running some tests, this monitor is riddled with tiny dead pixels also. I have counted at least 10, and although they are small and not overly obtrusive, I'm really disappointed with the quality control over at Dell.If you research for a bit, you will find many complaints about this issue. It's a fantastic budget ultra wide monitor after spending time calibrating and customising all the settings, just such a pity they aren't looking after their loyal customers. I couldn't be bothered dealing with Dell's customer support again after all that so will just keep it.

This 34-inch, high resolution screen is perfect for my needs! Still compact enough not to dominate my desk space, I can now load multiple documents on a single screen that makes my task an absolute breeze. For whatever reason, the single curved screen is so much easier on the eyes than fighting with two wonky-angled flat-screen monitors that chew up much more desktop real estate than does the Dell.Besides, it looks cool too. Nice job Dell!

Good monitor but know what you pay for

The monitor is pretty good for multi-column layout thanks to the ultra-wide setup. But it doesn't provide enough vertical space for my usage which mostly based on web browser. I have to zoom all websites to 80% to gain extra sight. This has a drawback of distortion since the pixels can't scale perfectly. I imagine a monitor with more y-axis pixels won't have such problem.Color profile isn't good especially when you are using Mac as the working machine. I have to tune the color profile, yet it couldn't give a close enough outcome. May be the top tier Dell monitors don't have this problem, but I haven't tried.Brightness of the monitor isn't enough, and since this is a curved monitor, the light from your lamp or something will reflect to your eyes at some angles. ... MoreThe monitor is pretty good for multi-column layout thanks to the ultra-wide setup. It's hard to mitigate this.Compatibility with Mac is basically nothing. For sure the monitor supports the video signal, but the sound doesn't go through and will stay on your Mac. But I can live with this.

Great monitor - could do with a USB-C cable though

I watched a few YouTube reviews before buying this monitor. Also, and coincidentally, the monitor was on a 40% off special. To be honest, if it weren’t for the discount, I probably wouldn’t have bought it (I had a budget in mind). But it was and I’m happy to say, the monitor fully meets my requirements.I did have one problem initially. I could not get my work laptop to achieve the 3440 x 1440 display resolution using an HDMI cable. My personal laptop was fine though. After some research I discovered that some laptops need to connect via their USB-C connection to achieve the higher resolution. Unfortunately, the required cable didn’t come out of the box, so I had to source that elsewhere.I have the cable now (USB-C to DP) and both machines are fully compatible. ... MoreI watched a few YouTube reviews before buying this monitor. From office work, gaming to entertainment this has been a pleasure. 9/10So much so that I bought one for my wife 6 months later when it went on sale.Nab it when its on sale, its a deal you cannot miss, 34 inch Widescreen magic for 50% off. Also because its a dell monitor, I have 100% no issues with quality or warranty issues given their brand reputation. The monitors came fast and securely via home delivery which was also pretty neat. Takes about 5 mins to assemble and setup. For office work - it provides the double screen effect in one single monitor arm so you can have a 2nd mounting arm used for other stuff for example I have a laptop setup. For PC gaming, it works wonders for 1440 from RPG to FPS to MMORPG. Heck I even tested out old school games on it with little to no scaling issues. Many older games from 90s 2000s don't support 1440 or for that matter some even have issues with 1080 gaming so you have to descale and use some windows compatibility settings to get it to run.For entertainment (netflix and prime) that is where sometimes you may have those black sidebars because the video doesn't support widescreen but in tv shows/ movies that it does it looks great.Blacks are not too bad, color is great.FPS and refresh rate for first person shooters is great.I get a constant 144 MHZ on my 3070 for most FPS.Only the heavy duty games like cyberpunk is where I don't get the FPS I need which is where the difference can be felt but adaptive sync does a good job.It is very important to use the DVI cable they supplied to not have any issues with 144 Mhz as I noted other cables do have screen tearing issues oddly enough.

3 stars due to not specifying features are not compatible with mac. In this day and age, especially if you offer a product with a usb-c port, it should be specified in marketing if the product software and features don't work with mac. Nice ultra wide monitor.
25 February 2023

I bought this model to attach to my laptop and replace a 43 inch screen. It works well for having only one monitor and being able to work and have a couple screens open at once. I do like the split screen feature. It's also nice having the USB-C plug in to connect and power my laptop. The only reason I chose this one over the Dell S3422DWG was the USB C and the speakers. Part of me wishes I had purchased the Dell S3422DWG instead for the brighter screen and extra specs. The speakers are okay, but I have connected a sound bar now as they aren't the best doing zoom meetings or listening to presentations. I haven't figured out how to adjust the text and some boxes to make things bigger and legible yet. I am not sure if that's a window's issue or the monitor scaling. ... MoreI bought this model to attach to my laptop and replace a 43 inch screen. The monitor does do a better job scaling Firefox, outlook, Gmail and other applications compared to the 43 inch Samsung M7. I am not sure the USB C port is worth the extra $200 over the S3422DW or S3422DWG. I would say buy whatever is on sale.

Phenomenal Screen

I wasn't sold on the curved screen, but a colleague recommended one with a type-c connection to eliminate the need for a dock. Finally caved and got the Dell curved 34 inch along with a new laptop. The Type-C connection is a single cable to the computer that charges the laptop while the screen has one power cable to the wall. 2 cables and my setup is now complete. This screen also has 2 USB-A ports which helps for other things like a cable to charge my phone and, as my new laptop only has one type-a USB I can plug my wired mouse and keyboard into the screen and this works too! Also USB stick. It's a great screen and meets every single need I had. I'll move onto wireless mouse and keyboard eventually as well. My eyes also seem less tired from using the curved screen, but not sure how that works. The positioning options for the screen is great too: up/down, tilt forward/back, and can tilt clockwise/counter-clockwise a tiny amount too (although not very important), but what a good screen. The plastic (border or whatever) around the screen is small as well. The screen is also so big I use it as 2 screens in one for many programs. The only extra thing I wanted was a webcam as attaching one is bulky, but not that big of a deal. Phenomenal screen!
