Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor - - 1PFTW

Honestly probably the best all round monitor I have ever owned.Not as good as OLED for media/games but the IPS black isn't a gimmick. If feels closer to OLED than it does to traditional IPS in terms of contrast. Looks brilliant.And then as a productivity monitor it's just beautiful on my eyes. Awesome monitor for Mac

I was replacing a 5K retina iMac Pro, so I was nervous about this, but a 27 monitor wasn't enough for my aging eyes anymore. I really wanted the other Apple brand 34 monitor, but we all know how expensive and old that technology is. And their other monitors are also 27, so Apple was out. After watching a lot of videos and reading reviews, I landed on this monitor as a companion to my new Mac Studio.While this monitor does not hold up to the Retina display quality, it is good enough. I have used this monitor at full brightness with the curtains pulled back, and it's more than enough. I'm torn on the matte finish of the display. On one hand, it has almost no glare, which is great! But I'm just used to the glossy/glassy coating on Apple which feels like a crystal clear image, where on this monitor, if your font is too small, you can start to see the pixel breakdown. But once you get everything configured properly, you won't want to go back.I got this monitor because I needed more space on the desktop (the virtual desktop I mean) and because my eyes are aging or degrading (I have double vision and other undiagnosed eye problems, so I'm not the average user). After switching to this monitor, I have less strain on my eyes. I don't know if it is due to the larger screen (I am using about the same font size though) or was due to the glossy screen I was using before.As far as quality, you can find plenty of reviews on the color gamut and quality. I'm no expert, but the image clarity and color space appears to be great. I don't notice any washout or bright spots on the display.If you pair this with a Mac studio, you'll be very happy.

Fix the auto-brightness feature.

Issue 1 — The auto-brightness feature is useless.If I cover the sensor it only goes down to9%, 9%, 9% (low, mid, high). I want it to be 0%With my room light turned on: 9%, 14%, 24% (LMH). I want it to be 80%.To get the display to go above 24% I need to shine my phone flash, point blank, into the sensor, giving me a reading of 22%, 65%, 96%. !!!!I should be able to1) set an "output" min/max brightness (ie: 0%/80%),2) based on an "calibrated/input/room" brightness (ie: "night time", "day time", "lit room").Issue 2 — Inconsistent whiteDepending on the location on the screen the white ranges from a perfect white to a slightly, but noticeable, warmer white. Go Big with 5K Resolution

The size specs of Dell's UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Monitor are perfect and the 5K resolution is impressive. Unlike other typical large size monitors, this monitor extends in a curved landscape orientation that I feel is easier on the eyes from a left to right perspective, versus jumping up and down. The number of different inputs and built-in speakers are a very nice touch to this monitor. The 38" monitor is a more recommended cost-effective option if your work does not require the precise resolution requirements from a 5K monitor. However, we highly recommend them both!

Good Display that requires modern hardware

The Dell 4025QW is a very good display for productivity and light gaming. It requires fairly recent hardware for optimal use. I purchased this monitor for work and occasional gaming. It is not fully compatible with 10th gen intel laptops like the dell latitude 5411. I was hoping it would work with my latitude 5411 but it is not. I had to upgrade my laptop to a newer one with an 11th+ gen intel CPU that supports thunderbolt 4 or USB4. With the older 10th gen CPU, the maximum resolution 5120 x 2160 can only be run at 30hz, which is not ideal. And with the older, thunderbolt 3 laptop, I was having connectivity issues. The laptop or monitor would drop the thunderbolt connection multiple times a day and send the monitor to standby. Great display for Work and Play

First, the thunderbolt hub monitors are so much better than having a docking station.I have one power cable to plug in the monitor and one thunderbolt connection to my laptop. It really cleans up my desk and reduces the amount of cables that I have to use. Second, the positive improvements that the U4025QW have compared to the U4021QW are IPS Black Technology, better brightness, better contrast ratio, and a better refresh rate. I also really like the drop down USB A/C ports on the bottom of the monitor. You can push the drop down back up into the monitor to hide the ports if you don't want to use them. The one concern that I have is that it appears to be using a Displayport 1.4 connection which can only do 60hz. If you use that Displayport you won't get to fullest capability of 120hz out of this monitor. I wish Dell would have put a Displayport 2.1 connection in the monitor. In conclusion, I think it is a really good monitor, but I don't think it is worth the extra cost compared to the U4021QW.

It's also amazing for wide spreadsheets as it helps minimize horizontal scrolling.The gentle 2500R curve is absolutely a win. I tried an 1800R curved screen a few years back and felt like it distorted documents and text to the point it was distracting and returned it. I'm happy to report that is not the case with this monitor as the curve is much more subtle.My previous work setup consisted of a Dell 32" 4k USB-C hub monitor in extended desktop mode in conjunction with my Precision 5480 laptop.
