Delonghi CTO4003VBG ICONA Vintage 4 Slice Toaster

It seems strange to be getting excited about a toaster and kettle, but these matching vintage appliances have made such a difference to our kitchen that my wife has had to rearrange the whole kitchen just so that these can take pride of place and can be showed off. In this case it really is worth paying that little bit extra as the quality and looks make such a difference compared to our previous kettles and toasters. Do they boil water faster or toast bread better? Probably not, but they look just so much better!

A good addition to the kitchen

As with all De'Longhi products this toaster is stylish, pleasing on the eye and very well designed. It oozes quality and should, in keeping with all products from this manufacturer, last well. The controls are clear and easy to use and the item delivers good toast every time. Anyone purchasing this product should not have cause to regret their purchase.

An exact replacement!

I've had the matching kettle and toaster before for at least 10 years. I looked around for a different one and nothing matched up to my expectations. So got exactly the same again! Hoping they will last for another 10 years! Best buy ever!!

Pros: Nice looking with good features, big enough slots for a decent slice of toast. Also slot settings for bagels etcCons: It does not toast both sides evenly and I need to turn the toast in at least two slots other wise one side gets burnt or untoasted

Does the job well

The appearance is good. The signage on the toaster is clear. The toast colour is easy to see and to set. Four slots are perfect as my wife is a coeiiac and we have to ensure that we do not have cross contamination. Only downside is that now and then it does not toast evenly on both sides.

Handles Broke

After 3 years of use, the handles that push down the toast element broke within 1 month of each other. It feels like the internal welding gave way. And I can't open the toaster to have them spot welded back on. They flop loosely. I have to use a knife into the side slot of the toaster to depress the toasting element. For the price, this toaster should have lasted much much longer!We are a 2 person household, so the toaster was not excessively used or damaged by children. Just poor workmanship.

Not as expected

The toaster looks the part, but I have returned. Wished I'd taken notice of the negative reviews! Tried all the settings as I really wanted it to work, but bread only toasted on one side so it had to be turned so the toasted side ended up dry & burnt . Disappointing for the price paid. Delonghi replaced with another but that was the same.

Smart looking toaster, shame about toast results

Bought this toaster to replace our very old one. Looks lovely but found the settings puzzling. My old toaster was always set at 3 as it produced a nice even brown colour every time. On this one you have to put it between 4 and 5 to get the same colour as 3 produces a combination of pale brown to hardly any colour. Disappointed with results seeing how expensive it was.

Pros: colour and design look good in the kitchenCons: but the elements to toast the bread do not always work to heat, so you dont get an all round toast. The one I have this time only toasts on the one side so you have to swop it round so both sides get toasted. It really should be replaced as I have had it only for a few days.
