I just started my journey for my curly hair. They recommend not brushing your hair. But my hair is extremely thick so they said if you must use a brush to you the Denman brush bc it actually helps curls. I was extremely skeptical at first because a brush is a brush, right? Wrong. This brush truly doesn't stretch my curls and helps shape them. I have no idea how but if you're looking for a brush for your curly hair this is a must have. I would definitely buy again and again. I got the D4 Black Original Styler 9 Row and it works perfectly. Detangles in seconds and my curls pop. I take a star off because I wasn't even combing through a knotted patch and the whole brush came apart (it comes apart to clean) which I didn't expect while in use. Other than that I am pleased with the texture of the bristles and how well it works.

Brush loses one star for having really hard bristles. Just ouch. Brush loses one star for slipping off as I brush. Holding the bush as usual means the part of the brush that detaches from the handle slips off. You have to adjust how you brush so it doesn’t slip or push it back in after every fifth stroke. Both these issues combined makes this a decent brush but adjusting how you normally brush because it hurts and slips isn’t ideal. I do recommend the brush because of the detaching and customization of removing the bristles.

I bought two D4 Brushes from Sally’s that both fell apart several times in the shower while detangling my hair....I then ordered two more directly from Denman to compare quality and it is the same. The quality has done down tremendously. My last D4 never fell apart in over 6 years. Almost $100 for detangling brushes I can’t use. Disappointing.
This is a quality brush. I only gave a 4 because after exhaustive research this brush # should be the best for wavy shoulder length hair. Now that may still be the case however for THIN textured hair I’d try a different brush # thats is softer and more gentle. This brush is very stiff and feels rough on my hair when it encounters even the slightest tangle. I do love that by some sorcery it helps define my waves but i have to be careful it doesn't rip my hair out. Fine textured hair needs a softer brush with a bit more flexibility to the bristles.
The shipping was quick and I'm thankful because I was so excited to give this brush a try. I never brush my curly hair because of the frizz, but it always gets super tangled. This brush saved my hair! I can brush it when wet and it curls up nicer than it did with just scrunching. It also helps the product disperse better so I don't get spots of crunchy gel. I love this brush and recommend it to anyone with 2C/3A hair!
What a big difference a great brush makes!! I bought this based on a recommendation I received and was not disappointed. My hair is natural and this brush works even on dry hair without a lot of pulling and tugging. Little to no hair in the brush. If you want to scratch your scalp a little, just press a little harder. Like getting a scalp massage.
I've always loved Denman brushes for my hair. Picked up an extra brush to put on my other bathroom. It's just something about the way a Denman brush distributes product through my hair. I like that I can remove rows if desired when brushing the various hair types in my household. Removable rows makes for complete cleaning/sanitizing. I have lots of hair and often the pad with the bristles slides off the handle. I've learned to deal with it and adjust to where I now grip the brush. All in all I love the quality of Denman brushes and will keep one (or two) in my house always.
I go back and forth between Texas and Chicago so I actually bought a brush for each location that way I wouldn’t be without it.Now the Texas brush: sturdy bristles, rubber base doesn’t move an inch wet or dry, love it.Perfect for thick natural hair.But my Chicago brush? The bristles are super flimsy (like a tangle teaser) and the rubber slides off all the time; it’s horrible.The worst part? I threw away the receipt because I was so sure it going to exactly like my Texas brush....I suggest asking the clerk if you can take it out the box to see if it feels the way you want before you buy it.
I got this brush for Christmas & oh boy was I happy. It brushes the hair very smoothly & detangles it without hurting my scalp that much. The only flaw it has is that you can dismember it, which is good, but it sometimes slightly slips while brushing hair, but it's an easy fix & doesn't bother me that much. Very good brush, 100% recommend!!!
