Denon DP-300F Turntable
The DP-300F features a particularly heavy-duty chassis to reduce vibration and improve reproduction. The completely new developed tonearm has a special headboard for easy changing of the cartridge. The standard head section supports the installation and balancing of standard pick-ups between 5 and 10 grams in weight. Fully automatic means that the turntable starts playing by pressing a button and, as soon as the end of the record is reached, gently moves the tonearm back to the armrest. This ensures that neither sapphire nor vinyl is damaged. The turntable is equipped with a robust die-cast aluminium turntable, which allows quiet operation without fluctuating synchronism. You can also raise the tonearm manually with the lift lever and move it to the desired playback position of the record. The DP-300F has an integrated phono equalizer and can therefore also be connected to amplifiers or receivers without its own phono input. If you want to use your own phono preamplifier or MC pickup, you can switch off the preamplifier. The turntable is driven by a DC servomotor via a belt system that allows rotation speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 RPM.

I bought this as a replacement for an old turntable which was part of a not quite so old Technics Midi System. Over 30 years since I last bought a turntable! The footprint of the product is larger than its predecessor, but as I will no longer need to use the external pre-amp there is just room on the cabinet shelf. I play LPs and sometimes need to pick an individual track - not a problem even though it's badged as automatic. Assembly straightforward and quick with one exception. Assembling the product does make you appreciate the solid build - metal turntable, MDF base etc. The one part of assembly which was time consuming was balancing the tone arm, which was fiddly and required patience. Excellent as regards both voice and music, a turntable which is suitable for my admittedly modest system. Better clearer sound than the unit it replaced, particularly noticeable when a higher volume is needed.

I have purchased a lot of my hifi equipment from Richersounds over the years . My first foray into the world of hifi was way back in the late seventies at the original London Bridge site and I’ve been a regular customer ever since . My latest upgrade was for my turntable and the Denon DP300F is perfect for my needs . The automatic feature is excellent meaning no more need to make sure I’m close at hand if the album comes to an end . The turntable is relatively easy to set up , The instruction book guides you through every aspect of setting up the player and it’s only minutes before it’s time to turn it on. I was a relatively young man on my first purchase at richersounds, I officially become a pensioner next month and still purchase my equipment from RS . On price and quality they can’t be beaten .

I bought this on the 25 June 2024 as an upgrade to the Denon dp29f. I was advised by Richer Sounds when I bought the starter package from them last year that it was a good way to get back into listening to vinyl. The turntable was "free" the expensive item was the amplifier and the speakers were ok. The suggestion was that I could upgrade the stylus, the speakers and the turntable which I have now done. When I bought the starter package I was advised I had to get good cables to connect it all together. I was asked where I would be placing the sound system so you would know how long to make the cables. The other expense would be what is called banana plugs. Banana plugs are put on the end of the cable so that there are no loose strands and then you simply "plug" them ... MoreI bought this on the 25 June 2024 as an upgrade to the Denon dp29f. I'd purchased a different brand turntable from Richer Sounds a few month ago, but kept experiencing an intermittent fault with the auto return. Rather than persevere with this, Richer Sounds very kindly offered me an exchange for the Denon DP300, which I'd previously decided against, mainly on appearance. The online photo doesn't do this deck justice - it's a great looking device!Build quality is excellent, with a really solid metal turntable and adjustable tone arm weight. The auto start and return function is via buttons on the front which are really easy to use and can be operated with the cover down and both disc speed and size are selectable - so 12in singles and 7in EP's are no problem!Sound quality is really excellent and full - I use a phono input on my ... MoreI'd purchased a different brand turntable from Richer Sounds a few month ago, but kept experiencing an intermittent fault with the auto return. Recently purchased (2024Mar20) and while setup was pretty easy itself, there were some issues I did not expect.Issue one, the speed was set incorrect for the 33 1/3. Had to puzzle out if this could be fixed (it can), and then gather up the tools to do so.Issue two, the tone arm does not seem to lift high enough to properly use the Automatic functions for Starting and Stopping. And there does not seem to be a solution for this issue. When starting automatically, it basically drops the needle into the side of the vinyl and sometimes pulls itself up onto the top. Does not sound good, cannot imagine it is good for the needle itself. When reaching the run out groove, it returns, but lifts just high enough to drag the needle all the way across the vinyl to the tone ... MoreRecently purchased (2024Mar20) and while setup was pretty easy itself, there were some issues I did not expect.Issue one, the speed was set incorrect for the 33 1/3. I am completely new to the turntable world and in fact only started listening to vinyl when I inherited a Denon stereo. I had borrowed a Jam turntable to link to the Denon stereo. The sound was good so I began building my vinyl collection. After a while, it was time to upgrade so did my research and decided on the Denon DP300 in black as it reviewed well and matched my needs. There was a bit of setting up to do and the instructions are a bit clunky but with the help of YouTube I was able to piece it together. This involved putting on the actual turntable, cartridge and setting the counterbalance, which is not as fiddly as it sounds. When it was up and running, the Denon DP300 packs a punch. I am enjoying working my way through my collection, listening to a deeper, richer sound on each record. It looks great, although this wasn’t a hug factor in my decision. It is sleek and looks more expensive than it is.My understanding is that you can upgrade the cartridge on this particular product which again didn’t really factor into my choice, but it is good to have in your back pocket.Matching the Denon stereo with a Denon turntable was the key factor in my decision and my new product is excellent, making the most out of a relatively low budgeted choice.Great product and continuing to enjoy the sound it gives.
My husband and i were recommended Richer Sounds by our son in law. He spoke very highly of the staff and products sold within the Exeter store. How right he was. We knew what we wanted and a product which was not too technical for us. My postman hates this turntable. It's responsible for a dramatic increase in his workload due to my endless online quest for obscure vinyl.Denon has made smart choices when allocating the product cost, evident in features like the solid plinth and aluminium platter, which provide a firm foundation and decent sound. The design is understated and timeless, ensuring it won't look dated anytime soon, unlike aesthetically edgier alternatives that may catch your eye today but won’t age well. The finishes on the visible parts are top-notch too.For me, the auto function is a must-have feature. No more waking up on the sofa to the sound of a distressed stylus. The tone arm's functional appearance translates to exceptional tracking, even on my ridiculously bouncy floorboards.I did encounter some minor challenges with my uneven floor, requiring the use of a spirit level and adjustments to the cabinet where the turntable sits. This may be overlooked by vinyl newbies, but having a firm and level foundation is essential for getting the best sound possible. This is not unique to this product and applies to any turntable.A slight drawback, but not a showstopper, is that the cables are hardwired, making them impossible to upgrade. Nevertheless, the supplied kit is decent enough for most people. The sound quality exceeded my expectations. However, I'm contemplating upgrading the cartridge when it's time to replace the stylus, as I believe this could take the bass performance to the next level. Some reviewers expressed concerns about the placement of the equalizer switch, but I found it accessible by lifting the slip mat and turning the platter to reach through. No need to remove the platter and belt, contrary to what some have suggested. Besides, this setup task is a one-time occurrence.Considering its price, this turntable is truly fantastic. It offers solid audio performance from the trusted Denon brand, underpinned by exceptional service from Richer Sounds.
As a lover of physical media formats, I felt it was high time I bought into the world of vinyl, and sought out my first turntable. While CDs (and ok, I’ll admit some streaming too) take up the brunt of my listening habits, I was keen to add a turntable to my arsenal of tech to explore the format, and open up the world of my parent’s and grandparent’s vinyl collection I’d taken on. The Denon DP-300 provided the necessary level of convenience and sleek style I was after.I love the simplicity of placing the record on the plater, selecting the correct size and speed, and pressing play. The fully automatic stylus does the work both starting and finishing a record! Perfect! Great service as always.
After reading the reviews I decided to purchase this unit. I went for the full automatic turntable for the obvious reasons and it did function as stated in the listing. What I was disappointed w was the build, plastic throughout the unit. The worst is the 8¢ plastic 45’ adapter. The sound w the current cart was lacking, nothing inspiring through my B&W system. For reference, I played my Technics 1210M5G w an Ortofon cartridge and it was night and day. Fleetwood Mack’s Rumors came alive. I’m aware the vast differences of the tables and I’m not wanting a DJ turntable on my entertainment center but for $500 I would want better sound which this lacks. Plastic throughout, bad cartridge and the sound dampening is poor, really poor. I would buy this at 1/2 price and I ... MoreAfter reading the reviews I decided to purchase this unit.
