Now I was hesitating at first with the Denon turntable, but man I'm glad I did...I'm partial to the technics... but I want it something homie more classy but I also want it the hi-fi that the old work horses bring.... and for those who were DJs or still are, you know what I'm talking about.Well this USB 450 delivers greatly. I can listen hours on end... and get frustrated by the sound it produces...Ps only thing I will be changing is the cartridge but that just me.

The biggest issue is, that for some reason, the turntable will not turn off sometimes. If you turn the knob to off... the turntable continues to turn and will not shut off unless you pull the power. Also, there have been times that I have turned it on, and it will not make any sound. Again, simply unplug, plug back in, and it magically works. It seems like a software issue. I have contacted Denon about this, and the only solution is to spend nearly $100 (not refundable) to ship it to them so they can look at it. If the unit is defective, they should cover the shipping costs. One more small thing, the arm lever is way too close to the arm, and is easy to hit when lowering. This seems simple to avoid, until you hit it a couple of times.Based on the warranty ... MoreThe biggest issue is, that for some reason, the turntable will not turn off sometimes. I'll put up with this until it gets too annoying or just stops working and then buy something else.

I'll be honest I bought the wrong turntable, I really wanted the Denon with auto return BUT having got this I am really pleased with the sound quality, I did upgrade the cables to a better quality. I've not used the option of transferring to USB but the design is nice and the sound quality & build are really good. I always keep an eye out for eBay specials and have added a new more updated item to now having mid price system I'm very happy with. First class service and speed, item arrived next day. A++

I chose the 450 over the 400 to get the added features (e.g., USB) that, while I don't expect to use, will be nice to have just in case. I loved how easy this was to set up. I double-checked the needle force with a gauge and it was dead-on (2.0g). I took the extra step of ensuring the cartridge was aligned in the headshell and it was only barely off. I suggest checking this with an alignment tool. I knew going in that the standard cartridge (~$30 to $50) was going to sound "OK" but not to my standards. I immediately replaced the cartridge with an Ortofon Bronze 2M (~$450). Even the Ortofon Red (~$100) would be an improvement. This upgrade made a huge sound improvement. It's nice to know this can be done easily. I would have bought a Denon cart but the only better ... MoreI chose the 450 over the 400 to get the added features (e.g., USB) that, while I don't expect to use, will be nice to have just in case. I would have bought a Denon cart but the only better ones they have are moving coil (MC) types. I also stripped off the grounding wire from the RCA plugs and upgraded the plugs. If you're not an audiophile, the stock parts will be fine. I actually like the minimalist dust cover which adds to the aesthetics of the TT. Looks cool when not in use. I'm very happy with my choices.
I purchased this turntable as an upgrade to the Denon DP400. I have only recorded a few LP's onto a thumb drive, but the process was very easy. The free conversion software worked fairly well and I am stoked to be able to digitize my collection. This is a solid player at the price point, well built and easy to get started. I would have no problem recommending it to the avid vinyl enthusiast.
Huge improvement over my 1990 Denon. Not as good as my 1979 Rotel with a Grado MC and Marcof head amp, but definitely good enough for my 65 year old ears. Sounded great with the cartridge it came with. Sounds amazing with a Sumiko 3 Blue Point No. 3 and Pro-Ject Phono Box DC that I added to my system. I have not played around yet with the software to create WAV or MP3 files but really looking forward to it.
Sounds great with easy mods - blue ortofon cartridge and a tube preamp (I thought the built-in equalizer was just a bit flat - a $60 tube pre-amp opened it up nicely.) Set up on a few acoustic isolator pads from Tuneful Cables out of Brooklyn. Love the easy recording to .WAVs and the dust cover is a unique touch - love it as an offset cover display during playback. The table and arm are svelte. All in all, very happy with a reasonable price for this set-up. ...and the mods are no knock on the quality out of the box - everyone adjusts their set-up to taste, and this was no different. Love it.
I have a long history with Denon Products; AVR-790 Amp/Tuner, a DCD-1560 CD Player and a DRW-585 Cassette Player.Last year (Summer 2020), in preparation to digitize my old vinal collection, I had a Kenwood KA-801 Amp refurbished. Next, I researched USB Capable Turntables and ultimately selected the Denon DP-450USB. This turntable combined with an Ortofon 2M Black Cartridge have exceeded all of my expectations!Keep Up the Great Engineering Denon and Thank You for helping me thoroughly enjoy my vinal collection, once again!!!!!...
My 30 year plus old turntable finally died. So, I started looking at turntables. Originally I leaning towards a Dual however, since they are not made for US I decided against it then I went on your website after reading some reviews on the DP-300 I wanted a high end turntable. So, I went and look at the DP-400 and then compared it to the DP-450. I liked that the DP-450 offered 78rpm mode as well as the USB hook-up. I wished that the DP-450 would have came with a little better cartridge but, this sounds OK.
After two weeks. USB does not directly connect to to computers BUT the thumb drive system lets me quickly transfer to multiple computers and listening devices. The semi automatic arm stops ( no return to cradle ) at end and deck stops spinning most of the time, nice when I fall asleep. Sound is at least as good as my 55 year old Dual and AR turntables. I have not used the unique dust cover but realize it probably will not work well with my old but great dust bug. Turntable works fine so far and the base is heavy in a positive sense and stable. Fits well in side cabinet.
