CD player gave up the ghost. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on CD transport/DAC - I rarely buy CDs these days but didn’t want to give up on the format completely. There seems to be a complete dearth of affordable CD players these days. Options seemed to be a DVD player, a tacky compact ‘hifi’ with hardwired mini speakers or very expensive separates. Called into Richer sounds just on the off chance, and 15 mins later walked out with the Denon. First off it doesn’t have an output, so wouldn’t easily plug into my existing aging Sony AV amp, but it’s a decent amp in its own right, with an analogue input, couple of digital inputs and Bluetooth - so swapped out the Sony and hooked up the record deck direct to the Denon. I had 3 pieces of Denon professional components back in 1990s, which I loved them to the moon. That quality of craftsmanship stayed in my mind and that is why I chose DM41, and oh boy, it did not disappoint! Mighty, powerful, clear spacious sound, with stunning room filling sound quality. The Bluetooth quality is fantastic, and allows me to listen to Hi-Res music files from Apple Music. As an audiophile, the precision of this device and its speakers are just stunning. It is so small, yet so powerful. The speakers are quite small, but it is unbelievable how they produce such amazing sound. Really happy with my choice, and will recommend this quality brand to anyone who cares about music and sound quality. Thank you Denon!

I bought this a month ago to update old sony mini hifi to newer option with bluetooth to minimise usage of cables with devices. From the very beginning had problems with swapping devices to use bluetooth, when ipad was connected Denon disappeared from the list on my iphone. Clicked ‘forget this device’ on ipad + switched off ipads bluetooth and still nothing. Switched off Denon from the mains and switched back on only to find it was trying to pair with ipad (which had been forgotten at least that what I was thinking). Been trying to solve this mystery for weeks now on different levels & online help but still nothing. Very disappointed, never had any issues with other bluetooth players, speakers, car radios, etc.

Needing to downsize from a (large) quality 1970 system I bought this (at a very good price) after listening to a friend's. Initially paired with QAcoustic 3020s it surprised me with its sound quality despite (unsurprisingly) not matching its predecessor. When my 3030i speakers arrived it was an entirely different story. The full range of frequencies, balanced and dramatic, give life to both CD and TV. It's flexible and easy to operate. Different from its predecessor (and significantly cheaper) but every bit as good.Definitely lives up to its reviews.

The manufacturer could easily double this to make installation easier, where the unit is perhaps more distanced from the speakers. I had to go out and buy longer wires.Altogether, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this and would happily buy another if I need to.

Don't know about the quality but it was certainly too short for my use. Don't get why you would buy a system like this then sit the speakers a couple of feet apart.Very happy with the Denon and it lives up to the What Hi Fi accolades.
After some unpressured and expert guidance from Nottingham's RS chaps , I teamed the Denon DM41 DAB with a pair of Dali Spektor 1 speakers and a few metres of QED 97 cable.I've found this combination to give a really great quality of sound with detail, nuance and depth.With the ability to adjust bass, treble and dynamics via the remote, I found it easy to get hugely pleasing music from the CD player, DAB tuner and, with the help of my Samsung A52s phone and the Tidal streaming app, from the Bluetooth connectivity feature. All give brilliant results.This kit has exceeded my already high expectations and brings me a great deal of pleasure on a daily basis.Thanks to the Richer Sounds team at Nottingham for their well informed advice and truly exceptional customer ... As FM frequencies were not released as expected I understand this is why I lost some favourite channels that were moved to DAB+. As the Denon has DAB+ I have them back and in stereo too. The low key silver looks great and apparently is in fashion again.The sound is my main requirement and as I liked my current mini system speakers it was ideal to get just the main unit so I could still use them. The Denon’s sound is a notch up, they certainly seem to care about the sound, using DAB, CD and to my surprise my IPad via Bluetooth. There are also now times when I like to listen to radio and other audio programmes in the calm of my bedroom, rather than the concert hall of my main system. This shows just how good I think it now sounds.I knocked off a star as it only allows one alarm to be set, so have to change as the source input and time required. Also, even though a DAB radio that most can pick up the time from, you have to set this manually using an internal clock. So beware if you get longish power cuts as it might not be able to wake you up! Still don’t regret buying the Denon, hopefully, it lasts as long as the previous system.

I run it with my existing Dali Spektor 2 speakers which I see are packaged in some deals with the DM41.Apart from repeating the headline above I'm not sure how to be more positive about it. Therefore do not allow the following comments to put you off!- The supplied aerial picks up FM better than on my previous unit but I had to tighten the F connector with a spanner before it was firm. At first I thought it was a fault in the connector and I am still not sure. I will install a proper FM aerial in due course as my signal here is weak. DAB reception was great. Delivery etc from Richer was as efficient as usual and all highly recommended. Sound and performance are great and currently I am spending too much time listening to it and not getting done my other jobs!
