Derwent Coloursoft Pencils are known for their soft velvety strip and rich vibrant colours. These coloured pencils have a round 8mm diameter barrel and a 4mm wide strip. Derwent Coloursoft is an exciting range of highly versatile 72 coloured pencils. The soft, velvety strip allows you to quickly add lots of bold, vibrant colour to your drawing and they're great for colouring in! The core of the Coloursoft range is soft and incredibly creamy, resulting in an overall consistent coverage. Due to the soft nature of the pencil, dry blending is easy, allowing the mixing of colours effortlessly. The Coloursoft is a wax based pencil and so therefore layering can only be applied a limit number of times before a wax build up prevents further layering. However, this can easily be remedied with the application of a solvent based liquid to thin out any buildup. They are best used with mixed media and watercolour paper, but are also suitable for drawing on coloured paper (including black). In comparison to Derwent’s other ranges, Coloursoft is Derwent’s softest colouring pencil.
