I've been playing Destiny since the beta. I used to get the expansion right away as I was an avid fan, but now I wait until their on sale, as I found that it was just getting much for not allot of what I was actually paying for at full price. It's a first person shooter, which is not a game type I generally go too. So you can still enjoy it even if it your normal game type. The story is good, but I find it choppy and sometimes hard to get the full story as some of its only told through written text that you need to find these hidden fragments. So sometimes they can be missed until you just randomly find it. The one thing I would like to be changed is some of the events that you need to complete needs 6 gamers, so it's hard to get that at the same time if you don't ... One of the better games of the year. I think the reason people come back to Destiny is that it's such a fluid shooter.. for example when Destiny was dying down from Oryx stuff, Tom Clancy's Division came out and my clan moved over to that. The one thing we complained about the most was that it wasn't as easy to play as Destiny. Destiny does have its boring/repetitive parts but Bungie has done a good job improving both PvP and PvE and the incentives that come along with it.I do agree with other reviewers that it can be hard to play the game by yourself, but if you get the right tools (LFG sites, Reddit, join a clan on the Bungie site) you'll get through raids and specific quests with no problem. Bungie has made it easy to catch up to day one folks so nothing should hold you back!

I was aboard the hype train ever since Bungie announced this as the next equivalent to the Halo saga. So size your grain of salt accordingly, since I am rather salty in regards to this game.I was expecting a lot more from this game. Right up to the release I was super excited. Even a little bit into the release. But the storyline was even more meh than Halo 4, the storytelling was kinda crap, I did have fun with the loot aspect of it, it mirrored Borderlands very well in that respect. I loved getting new stuff, and beating the baddies and leveling up. But then I finished the story/campaign mode, and just hit a wall. I had to grind to level, grind harder to get the better gear, and grind harder still just to be competitive in the multiplayer and events like Iron ... I had to grind to level, grind harder to get the better gear, and grind harder still just to be competitive in the multiplayer and events like Iron Banner. And in some games, either the story mode is sufficient, or they release DLC that extends it, or the PVP multiplayer is really fun and engaging, and Destiny is none of these. I shelved it after the first DLC, and haven't picked it up since. Which is really sad, because I had such high hopes for this game. I just wish they'd done a better job at focusing on one area being really really spellbinding, or at least done a very good job at a couple things, rather than try to do everything well and falling short. Halo had great storytelling, and great PVP. This tried to have great storytelling, loot systems, PVP, raids, customization, it tried to have great everything, and I get the sense the substantial talent Bungie has collectively was stretched too thin to make this game worth playing for very long.
Great graphics across all platforms, visually stunning expansive sci-fi landscapes and extensive character levelling and customisation possibilities, but these aren't all that make Destiny a great game. The alien and robotic threats you face on each of the many game worlds are incredibly varied and interesting, have huge bags of tricks (and use them!) and bosses that will keep you guessing and fighting for your life. The FPS element is different from others in its emphasis on energy weapon and melee combat, speed and and 3D mobility. The FPS element is different from others in its emphasis on energy weapon and melee combat, speed and and 3D mobility. Your guardian character is super fast and nimble, allowing you to engage enemies in interesting and satisfying ways, and evade them when necessary.Only gripes are that it can get quite hard, especially if you challenge yourself, combat can get repetitive (especially given the above) and mostly consists of you surviving waves of enemies as you progress through planetary phases performing simple tasks - what keeps things interesting is the environments and dynamic enemy combatants that will keep you reeling. The environments can get a bit familiar the more you play as multiple missions within a planet often take place within the same particular part of it. However, the environments are still breathtaking, diverse and are a joy to explore multiple times over - mainly because of the game's art direction and visual style, which is striking and unique, although a bit halo-esque.All in all a fantastic game and the birth of a successful IP that should keep people buzzing for years to come with new challenges, bosses and extensive levelling and customisation possibilities. The expansive MMO nature of the game means Bungie will keep updating the game world with new content to keep fans coming back for more. Also, is is important to mention that the multiplayer game mode (where you fight other guardians rather than team up with them) is awesome fun and adds an extra exciting, competitive aspect to the game other than MMO co-op.Don't sleep on this one!
(Note: This is all MY opinion to be what I think is the truth, and I currently love playing destiny.) The story or campaign. Disappointment. We expected there to be a better story in Destiny, and there would have been if the lead writer, Joe Staten, didn't leave. They scrapped the story due to not wanting to give him any credit to the story, etc. There are two DLC out, $20 a piece meaning $40 for two dlc or $35 if you buy the season pass. Which, (I don't know how the story is with these, but of course they both had new missions to the story plot.) The DLC, price is above and it's not too bad. The first DLC, The Dark Below contains 3 story missions, a new strike, a new raid, and of course new materials, weapons, armor, etc. The second one, which is The House of ... Now, they are in the makes of a DLC for $40. Now you may be thinking. "$40? THAT'S INSANE! But, trust me. This DLC will add more than both DLC's content combined and is expected to be released Sept 15, 2015. PvP is wonderful, very good end-game content, and it's so fun upgrading weapons besides some of the grind you have to do, the game is so much better playing with friends, or a friend, but in the end it's up to you. Reviews don't do much, i'd suggest experiencing it for yourself. I like it personally, and you don't have too. Just trying to show people how good destiny is. :)
In one word I would sum destiny up as "Great" and no doubt in the future when more things evolve in the Destiny universe it will become Awesome. As a single player gamer I normally stay away from online only games such as Destiny is. But after I had ago at my friends place I was taken back by how good the game really is.... Sure its a shooter but this is a shooter with a big RPG twist and a good storyline. What was meant to be a couple of hours visit to my friends place turned into an all day event lol. The things you can do and places you can go are well thought out and you can go there with your online friends too. The game play is smooth and fluid and the controls are easy to pick up and play. One of the best things I liked was how the world of Destiny will always be changing and new missions and places to go and do will keep popping up. I also liked how the game didn't force you to play with others it let you do what you wanted to do pretty much.Like all games there will be bugs but I didn't seem to spot any big ones there was a couple small ones but I heard the new patch fixes them.Only downside I saw was the always online part of Destiny, If you don't have good internet theres not much point in buying it. But if your friends have it go play there its worth giving Destiny a blast thats for sure. The other reason I say that the online part of Destiny is a downside is because I feel a big game like this should in some way have some sort of offline story or mode, but then again thats most likely because I play single player games. So in all, if you can get your hands on Destiny give it a blast.
Destiny - the first good futuristic shooter for Next-Gen consoles. I think this game is fantastic. You can play cooperatively with friends in quests to try and better your character and his/her gear, and you can also play against other players in death match and objective-based modes. The latter is standard, the former a great concept to have in shooters. The replay value is about a 4/5. It does take time and patience to get the gear you want and rank your character up. Unfortunately, much of the new gear you can get is randomly generated for you... So you may acquire 4 sets of boots you don't even need. It's good in the sense of community and playing with friends or even strangers, but just okay if you're just trying to have a purely story-based shooter game... But what shooters are like that these days? Overall, this is a really fun game. It plays sort of like Halo, but with interesting powers and abilities to keep things fresh. Better than Call of Duty Advanced Warfare in my opinion.
I just bought an xbox one with Destiny, and so far loving the xbox one itself. Destiny however has sadly been the victim of too much hype. Lets start with the good:The game looks absolutely stunning on xbox one. I have played the Beta on xbox 360 and the xbox one version is vastly superior graphically. Definitely a great game to show off the graphical capabilities of a next gen console. The shooting mechanics are very good and extremely satisfying. It is so much fun to play that I forget all of the negatives while I am at least playing the single player missions. The addition of the special abilities for each class is a real treat and the melee attacks are excellent. The bad:While stunning, the environments are generic, boring and surprisingly small given that Bungie have advertised this to be the next big open world game. The story is average at best and Peter Dinklage's voice acting sounds like he lost a bet and is voicing Ghost for freeThe competitive multi player is adequate, but no where near as fun as Halo, COD or even Titanfall. The classes are too similar and there seems to be no reason to party with other classes as they all basically do the same thing. The game is a very competent and fun sci fi shooter. But at least in my opinion, that's all it is. It is not the revolutionary online shooter MMO hybrid that Bungie told us it would be. If you are looking for a fun multiplayer shooter to kill 20-40 hours on, then Destiny is definitely worth it. But if you are looking for an immersive in depth world to explore and get lost in for hundreds of hours than you are better off looking elsewhere.
Destiny is not the first and definitely not the best game in it's genre, but for me it has always stood out as the game that began this era of MMOs. It came right at the end of the 7th generation consoles, and the start of the 8th generation.A great way to end a generation and a promising way to start another one. This is why I find it not surprising at all that there are still many active players in the game. What I find surprising is the fact the servers are still online despite the game turning 10 this year. The game has plenty of things to do, from your typical MMO co-op/singleplayer content (including the main storyline and side quests) to PVP oriented content which includes gamemodes very similar to those found in the Call of Duty games. The game feels great ... Throughout the story you will see a variety of beautiful views which add a lot to the world. One thing I think Destiny 1 did better than other MMOs is that it knew where to put a stop. Nowadays there are so many MMOs that just go on forever with infinite updates, which makes it hard for players to get into, while Destiny 1's lack of updates actually comes to it's advantage, as it has been much easier for me to get into, despite starting to play it almost 10 years after it's launch.Overall, I rate Destiny 1 as 8/10 (or 4/5), as it's definitely one of the better MMOs you could spend your time on.
