Destiny (PS4)

This is the 1st time using Mighty Ape after all my friends have been raving how amazing Mighty Ape is. I pre-ordered Destiny thinking it would take 3 to 4 working days ( as most places do) but no, on release date I received it at 8:30am!!! Just truely amazing. I am going to be using Mighty Ape from now on. Other good points is the special it was on was $20 less than anywhere else and I received a $10 off my next purchase code with my order as an extra! Mind blown.

I rented the game and only played a few missions. And I played it solo and it's probably more fun to play in a group as the developers intended. But I was pretty underwhelmed to be honest.It's not an MMO. Lets be clear on that. It's a shooter. It has some MMO elements such as it's an online game and the gameworld is shared by other players. At the beginning of the game you choose a class, race and gender, and customise your appearance, which I love and alsways prefer to playing a stock character. You gain XP by killing enemies and you level up and choose an ability. Missions reward you with bits of armour and such that give you bonuses and further customise your look.But that's where the similarities to an RPG end. There are no side quests for example. No interacting with NPCs... Well not really. The game is divided into two zones; the Tower, which is where the Guardian services are located and the mission areas, whether they're on Earth or the Moon or other planets.I only did the Earth missions are found it quite dull. They were all set on the same map, which was beautifl and quite big but I got tired of going back to it over and over. The missions were boring frankly. They didn't give me the feeling that I was working toward something, or make me feel invested in the story.It would have been nice if there were a few more game options, like being able to turn the damage and XP floaters off. And how about an option to turn the music off- There are no audio options at all in fact.And finally I was routinely booted from the game with an "unable to connect to Destiny servers." message. Further more if you're idle too long the game boots you from the game and you have to start the mission all over again. Hope the phone doesn't ring while you're playing.The game looks beautifl in terms of graphics and design (the armour and guns all look really cool) but considering how much money this thing cost it's surprisingly shallow and unremarkable. Worth a play but not worth full price.

In one word I would sum destiny up as "Great" and no doubt in the future when more things evolve in the Destiny universe it will become Awesome.As a single player gamer I normally stay away from online only games such as Destiny is. What was meant to be a couple of hours visit to my friends place turned into an all day event lol. The things you can do and places you can go are well thought out and you can go there with your online friends too. The graphics are pretty damn good too and most locations I went to it felt as if I was there kinda thing, drews you in which is really good. The game play is smooth and fluid and the controls are easy to pick up and play. One of the best things I liked was how the world of Destiny will always be changing and new missions and places to go and do will keep popping up. I also liked how the game didn't force you to play with others it let you do what you wanted to do pretty much.Like all games there will be bugs but I didn't seem to spot any big ones there was a couple small ones but I heard the new patch fixes them.Only downside I saw was the always online part of Destiny, If you don't have good internet theres not much point in buying it. But if your friends have it go play there its worth giving Destiny a blast thats for sure.The other reason I say that the online part of Destiny is a downside is because I feel a big game like this should in some way have some sort of offline story or mode, but then again thats most likely because I play single player games.So in all, if you can get your hands on Destiny give it a blast.
