DeWalt 18V XR Li-ion Brushless 3 Speed Oscillating Multi-Tool - Skin Only - DCS356N-XJ

This was a replacement for an earlier model which has had a lot of usage and some rough treatment at times (including some drops). Eventually it developed a wiring fault, but the replacement part (essentially the motor unit) was 90% of the cost of a replacement machine, so it was a non-economic repair.The new machine is an improvement as it now has a 3 speed motor which makes it more controllable. I bought a bare unit, but it still came with a couple of deWalt blades and dust extraction attachments, so it’s good value. DVS supplied quickly, at a competitive price and it arrived undamaged, which was nice.

Went for bare unit since I got batteries for my drill already so no point in getting additiinal stuff. Great quality as it supposed to be. Working great with really good blade hold. Quick and easy change of blades makes live easier. I was worry about it's weight but is farily light and easy to operate with. Had to cut trough floor boards and it saved me loads on plumbers sinc I was just above water pipes and with this tool I can go to certain depth every time.

DeWalt DCS356 review

Good quality item, bit of a pain to get the hold button to work and stay in. Quick change is great and spring is powerful so no problem with this. Used so far to take out nail heads, cut through laminate and MDF 8mm boards. If it was not of offer, I would not have bought this and saved for the Milwaukee instead.

Dewalt multi tool

Light weight tool, good for precision or just getting into tight spaces. Quick and easy to change new blade or direction of blade. Trigger system is great. No need to worry about switching it on and off as you need, simply let go on the trigger as you put it down, simple as that. Only thing I find it lacks slightly in power compared to other brands 9/10

Effortless

This was an impulse buy i have an unbranded corded multi tool which is great but i lacked the instand portability and this fit the bill the 3 speed settings along with the veribal speed makes it very versatile in tackling anything from removing rough artex to removing the tongue on T&G flooring. Not having to drag an electrical cord increases the comfort while using the tool and the led lamp is a plus in shadows or poorly lit conditions. Would i recommend this tool most definitely

Perfect

Absolutely love it. Robust and powerful with really good speed adjust - you can go super slow if needed. Blades are super fast to fit and it's not super heavy in the hand which makes it ideal for longer work sessions. It said "bare unit only" but there were in fact a few blades supplied with this unit which was cool. I got this for cutting holes in plasterboard for electrical outlets, which is a fairly standard application for these - but quickly realized that I can use it for many more tasks such as removing tile grout. Blades with a depth measurement are useful for precise depth cuts, you can also put some masking tape on the blade for an easy visual on the correct depth you are aiming for. Powerful and light

I tend to only review tools after at least 12 months of use, as is the case here. Looking back, I now think how did I ever manage without this. Its far more powerful than cheap 230v multi tools, and it has a useful quick blade change. Like any cordless tool, once you go to light and portable, you will never go back to 230v. The only advice I would give is that the 4Ah battery is the best to use. It delivers the power and isn't too heavy. This tool is easy to use and has once again proven that you get what you pay for. As a demanding tool collector I highly recommend.

This tool will pay for itself very quickly!

Must have in every tool box. On its first day it saved me on a job, it cut through rusted screws behind a toilet cistern like butter. Excellent for sanding skirting boards and smoothing out filler as the adjustable speed gives total control.

Versatile and useful tool

Great sander and ,with additional hose attachment to vacuum cleaner, very little dust. The cutting tool is also very useful in certain situations when you get the hang of it. Dust extraction not very effective on this and makes it cumbersome to use and control. Best to use it without

Very nice piece of kit

I’d wanted a cordless multi tool for a while, having used a corded unit for a few years and this seemed to be a good one based on the reviews etc.Well I’m not disappointed, it’s perfect for my needs.I got the bare unit as I already got a number of DeWalt tools and so saved some cash as well as storage space.The variable speed is a lot more useful than I thought it would be, which is a nice surprise.
