I needed to return my 1st set of batteries because one of the batteries refused to recharge. So don't purchase as a set. I purchased the same type of batteries. It is incapable of cutting my small back & front yard before needing to be recharged. In my opinion, not a good product.

I own a full range of cordless dewalt tools and batteries. From the portable air compressors to the Flexvolt Compound miter saw. In 2016 I also purchased the first 60V String trimmer and blower, bought as combo packs to agin the new at the time 9 ah batteries. These are still working today. The blower only lasted about 18 minutes wide open. Then I purchased the 12 ah 60 V in 2018 just for this power hungry tool. It now lasts about 35 minutes. Just what I needed. Made it comparable to my large handheld gas blower which rarely ever use anymore. It decided not to take a charge anymore. It still shows 1 bar on the battery gage but the chargers blink the charging light once and stop completely, no longer registering the battery in the charger. All other batteries charge as they should, with either charger, and none have ever quit like this. IF it had not quit this Would be a 5 star rating across the board! Can anyone help troubleshoot this problem?

I'm not a pro. I'm a retired hobbyist with a million projects on my wish list and an amazing wife who likes working on those projects with me. We are addicted to cordless tools, which is why I love DEWALT's Flex/Max/XR collection of cordless tools. (Example of our addiction: We have 8 DEWALT Max XR drills. The first 6 drills allow each of us to have three drills (drill bit, counter sink, bit driver) while we both work on the same piece - no bit changes during assembly.) We also have limited space in our 2 car garage workshop, so a lot of the heavier tools are mounted to rolling stands where not having a cord is a huge advantage. When we are working on projects, I often wheel out the tool we need, set it up, and then we run everything we can through that tool while ... MoreI'm not a pro. When we are working on projects, I often wheel out the tool we need, set it up, and then we run everything we can through that tool while it's set up. One thing I learned quickly after buying the super powerful Flex Volt 120V Sliding Compound Miter Saw with the folding stand is that all that cutting power can drain the smaller batteries fairly quickly. At the time, our largest batteries were 6Ah, which just wasn't enough. So, I bought a pair of the pricey 9Ah Flex Volt batteries for that saw and it made a huge difference in how many difficult cuts (4x4s for example) you could get on one pair of batteries. A few months ago, when I noticed the 12Ah batteries on Amazon, I was able to talk myself through the initial sticker shock, and finally purchased a pair for that 120V Flex Volt saw. I'm glad I did. The jump from 6Ah to 9Ah was a big boost in total work time. The jump from 9Ah to 12Ah added that same amount of boost a second time. Now, WE run out of energy long before the saw does. Then, we drop the batteries on our 4 socket quick charger over night and they're ready for another day. If you own that saw, you need these batteries. If you are a heavy or professional user, you might need a second pair, but one pair gets us through a day easily. Despite the painful price, these are highly recommended - if you can afford them...

I’ve been using dealt since I was about 12, I’m 37 now and have a garage full of dewalt tools. I’ve had these flex volt batteries for about 4 years now. I own about 15 of them. Since I’ve started owning them I’ve had 5 fail on me. One 12ah 3 9ah and the rest 6ah. At the prices these batteries cost they should last a lot longer then 2-3 years... but it’s funny they fail after 3 years because the dewalt warranty only lasts 3 years. I’ve called dewalt and they promise me to email me shipping labels and they would inspect and possibly replace the batteries if it’s covered under warranty but after a couple months of calls I still have no label and another battery has failed. Very disappointed in dewalt, more than I can express. Seems they don’t care about customers. Oh ... MoreI’ve been using dealt since I was about 12, I’m 37 now and have a garage full of dewalt tools. I got the new DeWalt FlexVolt 12 AH 20V Max*/60V Max Battery. After testing it several times, I’m happy to report that it is awesome! The battery has a much longer runtime with a significant increase in power. The power difference was clearly noticeable and it has up to an 8x more runtime compared to other batteries. This battery definitely made getting the job done much easier and quicker. I didn’t have to recharge the battery or replace it with another one.The one thing I did notice is that the battery is significantly heavier than the other ones. This is fine for stable tools on a workbench, but it gets a little heavy for mobile tools that are carried for extended periods of time.Overall, I highly recommend this battery and thought it was great.
I originally purchased 4 DCB612 batteries. One died in less than two years, so I replaced it. That makes 5 batteries. Today another one died in less than two years. So, that will make 6 batteries. I've had no problems with my 6ah and 9ah batteries in over three years. I guess there is a quality control or design problem with the 12ah batteries
We already had 2 of the 12ah batteries but needed additional to completely mow our yard. These batteries also work on my chainsaw, tree pole saw (also a chainsaw, just on a pole) and other equipment. During this last storm that hit Texas we had 87+ mph winds and my neighbors very large tree was blown over. This tree was almost 60 years old and you could not reach around the trunk of the tree. There was a lot of wood to be cut. The tree was on its side but I was able to cut all the high off the ground branches with the pole saw. There were over 100 cuts of 8-15" diameter limbs and it was all done with one battery. It was so impressive that my neighbors father went out and bought one of the Dewalt pole saws and these batteries for his house. I've tested all of Dewalt's 60V batteries with the DCG440 grinder daily at work. IMO... you'll need at least a pair of 12AH Batteries to keep it running through a common work day though. Sure you can get the advertised 4 hours, on a 60V tool out of a 12AH battery if you just turn the grinder on & let it run under no workload... but if you're putting it under pressure, (which is what this tool is designed for) that figure goes way down quickly. You'll get maybe a continuous hour of regular grinding out of one charge on a 12AH battery. Maybe less, depending on how hard you press. (that's the dynamic there... the more torque needed for more pressure, the faster the battery wears out.)So a 6AH batt wont get you very far, but it's nice to have in a pinch. (that's the dynamic there... the more torque needed for more pressure, the faster the battery wears out.)So a 6AH batt wont get you very far, but it's nice to have in a pinch. The 9AH is alright, but it's the same size as a 12AH batt, and so you're dealing with an equal weight for a lesser battery, & so you may as well just buy 12AH's to use.The 12AH is a different technology... that lasts longer on smaller batteries (thus it being the same size as a 9AH batt), and it cools faster, & charges cooler... so anything below a 12AH is "past technology"... & so that's what you're going to need... to effectively use Dewalt's grinders on the job if you plan to use it all day long.In fact you'll need several batts, so that you can keep it going all day long while the previous battery first cools, and only then should you can charge it. (they last longer if you don't charge em hot)The 15AH bat is a brick... and it's heavy. I got one... but I'm not trying to do "normal" work with that. However, if I foresee a "grinding session" going for 30 mins or more, I'll break it out for its longevity, but I honestly see little difference in it compared to the 12's which are much lighter... so 12's win the day imo. Here I've provided my experience with diff. bats under daily use & I absolutely love my grinders being handy & ready to go... & I use them almost daily in industrial welding. These are the things that are most important to me when I go to choose my next batt. purchase.I have a couple of 6AH... a 9... a pair of 12's & a 15... & I've actually maxxed them all out for super heavy grinding needs to the point where I would just go "corded" (EEK!) if I got a whole day of grinding. I can keep this set of batts charging in a rotation... but because of the "cooling time" required to keep the bats healthy before charging... the rotation can get backed up. Ideal setup for "all day grinding" would be probably a 4 count of 12AH batts, with a 15 on the side just for good measure.
We received the DeWalt Flexvolt 20V max/60V max Lithium Ion Battery the other day. It’s supposed to give you 8X the runtime that the battery gives that comes with their tools. So I gave it a good charge and put it in the weed wacker and after 40 minutes it was still going strong. DeWalt is the brand that we always go to, drills, Impact driver, saws etc. that have always given us very good performance and are long lasting. Well this battery was no different. It worked in all of our battery operated tools and our weed wacker. On the downside it is a BIG battery and is much heavier but it is well worth the performance. this is a very nice battery. It supposedly has 8 times the run time than their other 20 volt batteries seeing I don't don't have any other 20/60 flex volt batteries to compare it to I'll just have to take their word for it. I would think this battery would be better suited for stationary tools because of it's weight. It weighs in at a whopping 52.15 oz or 3.25 lbs. I plugged it into my oscillating multi tool and it works great. I could probably run that tool all day long. But my arm would get real tired holding it up. It also comes with a cover that goes over the prongs that plug into the tool. Which is a great idea all my other various brands of batteries don't have that feature and they get all dirty. They can also get damaged getting thrown around in my truck. It ... Morethis is a very nice battery.
