I recieved this as a gift going on 4 years now.The only trouble i have had with it thus far is i can no longer run it off of the batteries due to it draining the batteries beyond the charge.Now the pros:I have dropped this off a 2 story roff numerous times, operated during a thunderstorm, and aside from it being covered in sawdust there are no visible defects.The volume is definitely not an issue on mine, as i have stated i used it in the thunderstorm, i can hear it just fine 100 yards away (possibly further, i haven't gone that far yet)Oh and it has been dropped in the river while fishing ( don't recommend any of these experiences)I honestly expect it to last another 10-15 years just because it is yellow and black and says DeWalt :)

I ordered this for use in my garage or away from home on projects. This was a great deal for me because I won an auction for the low. I love thats its compact and smaller than the images but the sound is good but not great compared to my JBL speaker. I also love the battery option and thats what sold me.

Now that I've gotten past the sound quality issues, I must say that this is absolutely 100% perfect in every other way. It's very tough, with rubber bumper guards protecting a thick high impact plastic housing. Ergonomics are well thought out with a built in carrying handle and bottom heavy design, while not being overly heavy for what it is. Bluetooth range is acceptable. Controls are simple, well laid out, and pairing and use are brutally simple. There's an aux in for non-Bluetooth devices, or for using the FM tuner on your smartphone to give this speaker FM tuner capability.Now for the awesome in two parts: This speaker comes with an adapter that allows it to run off of AC power, so the batteries aren't needed, and the power in is 12 volts DC. That's the same 12 volts DC as every car and truck that's on the road. The same 12 volt battery that powers a tent trailer. The other awesome is that this thing can charge up my phone or other USB device while in use, which blew my mind. No more need for cheesy cell phone battery charging packs!Great product that could be perfect with just the right speaker.
I've been using this speaker for about six months and from my experience, it's below par especially when cost is considered. The sound quality is mediocre, particularly when the volume is cranked up (common on the jobsite to overcome noise). Bluetooth connection is 25 feet at best. The speaker cuts in and out constantly after that distance so I usually leave my phone charging with the speaker. I have a JBL speaker that out puts this Dewalt to shame with quality, performance, and connection for about the same cost!
A large portable speaker was never practical for me, but smaller speakers usually aren't loud enough. This Bluetooth speaker changed that. Compact, easily carried in a toolbox, while also being LOUD. I've dropped this thing off ladders, bench tops, and even a roof, and it still works perfectly. This speaker uses the 20v batteries so music is never interrupted for charging. If a battery isn't available, it comes with a standard wall plug as well. The portability, volume, durability and using the same batteries as all my other tools earns this speaker a perfect 10/10.
Dont get me wrong I like this radio. I bought it because my job involves me travelling in commercial tricks with loud cabs and poorly equipped stereos and 12v outputs. So I bought this so I'd have something that would be ready at all times. It starts quick and the power seems to last. Used it a bit the past couple days and my 12v slim battery is still on 3 power bars. Definitely puts out good volume when as close as I want to be to it. I don't even have it on full volume. I don't like that the battery doesn't lock in at all so i don't feel comfortable letting it roll around. Overall satisfied

We wanted a portable speaker system connected via bluetooth (i.e with out wires) to her laptop which she could carry around the garden with out power wires or audio cables.This unit worked. It did take a few minutes to get the unit paired with her laptop, There is a manual process required to tell the computer to pair the unit as a bluetooth headset.After that the operating system automatically identified the the device as a DeWalt product, downloaded the software drivers and setup the speaker. This is a poor product that should not be made by Dewalt. It automatically disconnects from my phone every 1 hour. If you want it to keep the connecttion, you must interact with it by pressing any button on the speak. Dewalt says that they want to save the battery. When I listen to the music, I don't care the battery. It stops playing the music even though I plug it into an outlet. I cannot return it because it came with the combo kit. I hate it. If Dewalt wants to save the battery, It should give us a button, so we can choose to save the battery or not. Don't decide what is good for us. Does Dewalt want to take this speaker? I will send it to you.
For a company that makes tools, I think the idea of a Bluetooth radio that can work off of the cordless drill battery. But it cannot charge the cordless drill battery. It is absolutely crazy. Also, that it does not have a normal AM/FM radio. It's about the cheapest thing in the world and I don't know why it's not in this big yellow box. I called the DeWalt about thisAnd talk to a customer representative and told him everything already here. I would be happy to help them create something a lot more handyman friendly. What I need is for the handyman tool bag friendly. I happy today I don't carry a tool bag. The fact still stands. Last thing, it only took two years before the Bluetooth stopped working and there's no other way to connect music to it.
