DeWalt DE0892-XE Line Laser Detector

This is a brilliant addition to anyones dewalt redline laser. Bought mine to set out levels on block work of workshop.

A must to work all day.

Very good but in bright sunlight a little difficult to align. You need to cover with cardboard. In normal daylight worked very well with good accuracy. As mentioned by other people, a little dissappointed that it has no case.

DeWalt laser finder

Purchased the DE0892-XJ to compliment my previous purchase of the laser level DW088K. Finder is rather expensive, however when used with the laser level is absolutely brilliant. Tried from a good distance (30 - 40 Mtrs) in daylight and picked up the laser no problem at all. Very easy to use and I now have the capability to shoot levels outside in bright conditions where the laser cannot be seen. Cannot comment on reliability as yet as only had for a short time.

Also works well with DW0811. Overall a fantastic piece of kit which makes outdoor laser work a breeze and easily a 1 man job. Only 2 minor niggles, first it does struggle in direct, bright sunshine and will struggle if cold, I'd say after couple of hours near freezing. Neither are deal breakers though, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Doesn't work allot of the time

Works well when it works. But allot of the time it won't give you a reading at all, or will beep to go up, but then not beep at all when its level. Very finiky. Sometimes facing the sunshine makes it worse for getting readings.

Excellent adjunct for the DW088 laser level.

Very useful, it immediately extends the usability of the level in daylight, & out of doors an unbelievable amount. Really useful, & good value at full price. Mine was a DeWalt-reconditioned unit, but looked & behaved like new. To clear up a few of some earlier uncertainties: It WILL NOT WORK with non-pulse (red in my case) laser lines. The 'pulse' thing is not visibly discernible, so do beware of trying to guess its presence. The detector will not see the red Bosch PLC 20 crossbeam for instance. Nor various other laser liners I could try it with. The 'pulse' thing is part of the beam of only specified models, presumably only DeWalt. The DW088 & 89 being two. Likewise presumably a Bosch detector for Bosch Levels. Don't try & mix them & expect happiness! I find it easier to hold it in my hand & pencil in the line. The bleep is pretty loud, & can only be turned off once the detector has initially been turned on. Only a minor inconvenience.

Excellent piece of kit.

Dewalt say that this detector only works with the DW088K and DW089K but I bought it to use with the DW0811 and it works just fine as far as I can tell.It seems to be well made works when the laser is not visible to the human eye in bright light for example.Marking out levels over even a fairly large site is easy.

Fiddly but does upgrade the Laser Level.

Definitely increases the range of the red laser level and now allows the aforementioned to be used outside in daylight. Cheaper than buying a new green laser, which have their own limitations. It is a bit fiddly to use as requires two hands (one with detector, one with pencil) so no offering up materials at same time and the clamp is not very dynamic in what you can attach it too. Also the device could do with a bubble in it to find plum as if out of plum then it won't settle on the level so you need to get the knack of going up and down, and then rotating to find the level line. But it does let the red laser level work outside in daylight, which is worth a bit of hassle operating IMO as the laser make life so much easier in the end.
