DeWalt DW088K Self Levelling 2 Line Laser

This is a great device that does its job perfectly. The beam is clear and strong, and the self leveling aspect is great. I used this to create a level line on the wall to help me hang some pictures and it worked brilliantly. Especially as my house doesn't have a single level floor or ceiling! Gone are the days of measuring from the floor up or the ceiling down only to find that I've drawn a zigzag on the wall... I used the wall mount which worked great, with a nice strong magnet to attach the unit. I haven had need to use the non self-leveling element of the device, but it seems like it would work fine. I don't use the batteries that come bundled with devices so can't speak to their quality. Dewalt laser level

Good quality with good range not sure about the 10 meters though. Could do with a simple level lock to lock the gimble in position when not used. Being mobile could damage other parts when being rattles around in the vehicles. Have heard a lot of good things regards these units and their accuracy over shorter distances.

Dies quick

Very disappointed with dewalt laser especially since I have all my tools for tiling like grinders and other battery stuff but this laser originally died before the one year warranty and had ir replaced. New one I received died a year after and now I went to dewalt factory store and was told they can offer me a trade up one for about $300. I had originally paid $200 for mine. I am beyond disappointed with the quality and Dewalt service. Not recommended.

Do not waste your money

First one I had stopped working within a month or two, had it replaced. Now just over a year later the second one has failed in exactly the same way. Lazer will shut off after 5-10 seconds, even with fresh batteries. Always stored in case. Never dropped or abused. This is clearly a design flaw, or poor manufacturing quality.

Excellent piece of kit

Well packaged in strong case which contains everything you need.So simple to operate - turn on the vertical or horizontal (or both) beam(s) with the press of a button. When you get a steady line, you're done. If the line(s) flashing then the unit is not level enough to give an accurate reading. Just reposition\twist\adjust until the lines are constant. Absolute simplicity, sounds harder to do than it is. It takes seconds - you don't have to get it perfect yourself, just get it somewhere near level and the laser takes over automatically.Unlike using a spirit level, it's all completely hands free. Highly recommended.

Good but not IP64

Bought this one over other similar products partly because the Screwfix website describes it as IP64. However, when I got it, the Dewalt packaging states IP54. If I hadn't needed it for an urgent job I might have returned it.Otherwise, very simple to operate. So much easier that messing about with the spot laser level that I have used for 10+ years. In winter sun it was difficult to see the laser line at about 5m range.

Great Laser

This is a great laser for the money. Only has one vertical line, and one horizontal line, and being red is sometimes difficult to see in bright rooms/spaces.It has a feature where the lines flash if the unit is unable to naturally auto level, which is a handy safeguard. I did notice that the 'tolerance' for it to auto level is very small, and if the unit is more than just slightly out of plumb it will flash at you.Used in conjunction with a cheap camera tripod, as it has the standard 1/4" thread in the bottom.

Stops working and Large tolerances

Bought and have used this Red one and the Green cross line laser as well, both units comped out after about a month of use. It barley turns on and when it does you don't know how long it will last. New batteries do not change much, even cleaned terminals and all recommended maintenance in the product guide to maintain it. Used to verify attic insulation install levels, used once a week maybe twice, so over usage is not an issue here. Bought this model to have ability to use AA batteries. Worked well for about 2-3 weeks then was totally unreliable. If you buy this do not use if you are going to rely on it for performance. Other then that the case is nice and the clamping system works well. Issue just with performance or lack there of.

Superb and very useful

I bought this having originally bought a long spirit level, and then I decided to return it unused and buy one of these instead. I’m so glad I did.I had some plasterboard walls to put up, which involved installing a few studs, and it’s made the job so much quicker. It’s also been great for lining up electrical sockets in the room, and for marking out long lines which would be quite tedious to do with a shorter spirit level.The magnet is very useful, because I have a metal speaker stand which is quite tall and slim, and it’s perfect for attaching to that which gives me a choice of heights by just sliding the thing up and down until the height is correct.The line will flash if you don’t have the thing approximately level – it can cope with a four degree error, ... MoreI bought this having originally bought a long spirit level, and then I decided to return it unused and buy one of these instead. Although it’s incredibly accurate, it also settles down very quickly – it’s a very well thought out mechanically and even if you’ve moved it, it only takes a second or so to settle and then you get a rock solid horizontal or vertical (or both) line. That’s an impressive design.

Used & abused & still doing what I need

Heck, I must have been using this for 5 years & only now getting round to writing a review.The unit is simple, reliable & does what I want, which is give reliable horizontals & verticals & with the receiver, allows me to check grades & ensure even slopes.It's survived the dreaded Du****ll leaking battery issue, being rained on, covered in mud & dropped/had the tripod fall over more than once.I've used it for chasing, tiling, running fences, footings, erecting a polytunnel, laying a lawn & other stuff.If you don't need all the widgets & gadgets on more expensive units, this one's for you.Highly recommended.
