Part of my complain has to do with the Tri Pod that I got with the device. I wish I could make micro adjustments from the laser level rather than try to move the tri pod which would far pass the mark I was so close to lining up to. To get the perfect set up of the laser meant tape measuring the room, setting the laser lever, measuring and making adjustments constantly. A lot of time can be wasted if you are trying to get absolute perfection if you need to laser lever to specific points.In Summary by having this laser lever it has helped take out the guessing work on eye balling if items are leveled. I was able to get a professional looking studio with no crooked lines or odd gaps thanks to this DeWalt Laser Level. When you are looking at the value of this device might be a pricey laser level but the fact you are getting the 360 3 beam laser lever is worth every penny. Being able to measure on a X, Y & Z Plane make sure that you are balanced to the room, sure it will take time to measure that you are correct but trust me your visible eye will take you. Every time I walk into my home studio, I am beyond impressed with how the set-up of the acoustic panels came out to be.

I did a lot of research before I purchased this unit. I do not make spontaneous purchases this expensive. I am over pleased with its performance. I used this outside to square and layout sonotube piers for a deck. Even on a bright day I could see the line at 20 feet. Not bright but it was there. It would not show if in direct sunlight. In doors it's great and a dark room it's fantastic. Get the green line only. Red is not the same The rechargeable pack makes it worth it. You would blow through a lot of AA if you don't have this feature The case and clips are great and the magnet is very strong. To strong. The draw back is there no fine tune of the height. Great for tiles, chair molding and picture hanging.Laser blinks when outside the tolerance for auto-leveling.Laser is great for indoor use, outside only at close distances in the shade. Not designed for lining up pavers for walkways or garden walls.As for durability it is perfect for a home owner or contractor. I'd be leery using this in a commercial setting.Storage case is solid for home use - built in slots hold four AA batteries. Laser only requires two AA.Price is right. A great addition to my toolbox. Just picked up one of these lasers a few weeks ago and have been using it almost daily. I have used it for setting ADA grab bars and other commercial bathroom accessories, framing walls, setting welded and knock down frame doors, installing drop ceiling and I am sure more I cannot think of.It is extremely intuitive to use right out of the box. I shouldnt say "box", it is a very nice case with foam padding that does a great job holding everything in place and protecting it. Also you dont need an engineering degree to fit it all back in where it goes.Fells very solid. Easy to use. Very strong magnet. I could go on.
I chose the red laser as I personally prefer the red. I use this exclusively inside and find the red shows up fine. The green is supposed to be much brighter than the red and some might prefer that, but this is perfect for my use.The self leveling feature is great and works very well. Stick it on a tripod or a frame and it just works. The cross line feature is great for anything from picture hanging to wall framing.It comes in a tough box with battery storage, which is a plus.Another great DeWalt product!
Two years ago I bought this to make lining up ceiling tiles easier but I keep coming back to it to speed up framing, laying tiles, laying out decking, leveling floor joists in old houses that have shifted and countless other things. I even used it to trim my hedges! I now have the straightest and most level hedges in the neighborhood. :)But seriously, I am a renovation contractor and this thing has paid itself off a dozen times. I often get jobs based on the fact that I was so good at fixing other contractors messes using this level. Indoors I primarily use it just on the floor or attached to a Task extension pole that allows me to lift it to any height I need. Task sells an attachment that fits the base of the level and clamps to the pole.
After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned about not finding the manual. I looked up the level and there it was. Actually, there were two of them. I think the tool worked great and look forward to many years of use.The storage box is a nice touch and the laser is well made.
This is the third laser level that we own ( higher end green level and and similar red). For our work,lots of tile and setting cabinets, the size of this one is particularly nice - smaller than a rubix cube - and is easier to mount and use than a full size level especially in smaller baths and kitchen. Green is certainly more visible than red over longer distances. The mounting bracket is nice but could be more refined (a bit plastic-y and janky for my liking) but it is in step with the price point. For professional's, I'd say this is a second option tool (a nice back up) and for occasional home owner work it would be ideal.
The device itself is great. However, i am totally shocked that such a sophisticated and expensive device does NOT come with any kind of detailed operating manual. I even called DeWalt's customer service. Even their own rep was surprised that a $700 piece of equipment does NOT come with an operating manual. Another interesting fact is that there is a small metal piece in the package (that appears in the picture on their Canadian website only) that is not mentioned anywhere in the description. When I called their customer service, I asked about this piece, and even emailed them a picture of it; their own customer service had no idea what the piece does or is. I am very disappointed in DeWalt; they were never like this before - I know because I own numerous DeWalt ... MoreThe device itself is great. The most disappointing part; while my whole Saturday was spent building them, the markings with this level was literally just minutes of that whole time. Marked my lines, leveled the shelves, which usually took me a longer with levels and chalk tape. Well one more disappointing part is the price. Pretty expensive. Like that each plane is independent of each other. Can have one, two, or all three on/off. Don't have or used another laser level to test "light".
