Bought this to replace earlier model I had stolen! Nice to have updated version! Usual dewalt quality! Used mainly for kitchen fitting.Doesn't work very well in router table, due to new electrical safety function

this is the worst design on the dewalt router the handles are the wrong way round to the straight edge on the base plate certainly won't be being buying any more of these and we've had quit a few of them over the years

Bought this to replace old DW625, far better machine, more comfortable handles, quieter motor, once you get used to different controls it is actually easier to use.

Basically I received the router with half of the bits missing out of the box. This was then sent straight back to Dewalt.
Very powerful, great piece of kit.
I own two handheld routers - a 1/4” festool and now this 1/2” Dewalt. Obviously not at all comparable in terms of price point but I thought I would share where I see the differences - i.e. what do you not get with the cheaper Dewalt that you do get with the festool.- plunge mechanism. The most obvious difference; the Dewalt is neither as smooth in use (by a long margin) nor as easy to set up as the festool. Dewalt is perfectly functional but no better than that.- dust collection. Barely adequate on the Dewalt and superb on the festool.Other than that I notice little difference. Most importantly both tools spin small metal cutting bits very quickly in exactly the same manner - literally no difference whatsoever in the core functionality. In my view the Dewalt is a ... MoreI own two handheld routers - a 1/4” festool and now this 1/2” Dewalt. Great piece of kitAccurate depth setting, then quick release trigger to hold plunge depth, then release trigger. No fuss, easy to control and use
I brought this as my other router packed up. I got 110v version without a plug. So buy a 32a plug and save the drama of it not working with a 16a like mine also you’ll need a 32a transformer too. built quality looks and feels great and the depth dials are really clear and precise.
This isn't really a review of the router, as I've only used it a couple of times, more a cautionary tale about not buying in haste. I bought this router to replace the same model that I have used in a router table for over ten years. I needed to get a replacement quickly, so I opted for the easy if expensive choice. Unfortunately the DW625 has been upgraded, and is no longer ideal for use in a table. Firstly one of the handles now houses the trigger switch and so is not easily removed, with one handle removed it was a bit of a struggle to get it through the aperture in the UJK router lift. Secondly the trigger switch is awkward to operate from under the table, the old model had a simple switch that could be left permanently on when using an NVR switch on the table. ... MoreThis isn't really a review of the router, as I've only used it a couple of times, more a cautionary tale about not buying in haste. The new model has a finger operated trigger and a separate locking switch. When used with an NVR switch the locking switch has to be reset when the NVR is turned off, so restarting the router after stopping it with the NVR involves switching on the NVR, reaching under the table, pulling the trigger to reset the lock, pulling the trigger to restart the router and finally pressing the locking switch. None of this is the end of the world, and it's my fault for not doing my research, but if you are looking for a router to use in a table, I'd look elsewhere. Having said all this, the new model does seem to be a step up from the old one in terms of build quality, and hopefully it will give me many years of service.
Despite advertising and picturing the (older) DW625, Wickes will send the new DWE625 which has well-known issues with the fine depth adjuster. The newer DWE model can be purchased cheaper elsewhere.
