I bought this speed square a couple years ago and use it all the time. Although, I do not build rafters or stairs, the numbers on this are much easier to read than on my Swanson speed square. That being said, the reason I bought DeWalt's speed square is because it is coated in black. Frankly, it could have been any color, I just wanted it coated so it wouldn't leave aluminum marks on my white cabinet doors as I use the speed square to make sure my hinges are straight when I attach them. Works perfectly! Plus, I now have another speed square that's very easy to read and most importantly for me, one that does not mark up my cabinet doors.

Bought this as i need a set square for a metal munching job i was.Never really been a fan of the adjustable squares so figured i'd give this a shot.Feels very solid, decent size that fits in the tool box well, and sits perfectly square. No arguments from me!

I love this square, i even bought a second one for the apprentice. There is a wider lip 28mm on it than other brands which makes cutting timber safer. I use it as a guide for cross cutting timber at 90 or 45. This also helps when marking angle cuts especially if the timber edges are chipped slightly. Great slots for scribing as well. All roof geometry is very useful too. I purchased the 12" one too for wider timbers. A great purchase.
Really happy with this. It seams well made. Easy to use. Fits in back pocket or pouch with ease. Only thing is it's imperial measurements. Would have preferred a metric one
Purchased the item to use with my DeWalt 18v circular saw. Before actual use though, I checked it against my accurate wood square. It wasn't and is 1.5mm out.I had read elsewhere about the same problem and now realise that I should have taken my wood square with me to the store and checked the rafter square before purchase. As I'll have to return it, that's what I'll do and hopefully get one that's is accurate.I'm a DeWalt fan and have virtually all their cordless power tools, including hex, SDS drill bits, plus impact driver screw kit, all of which are first class. It's a pity their rafter squares are not quality checked before dispatch.Don't assume if you're buying one that it'll be accurate and take another square with you to compare at the store. Solid with decent protractor markings. I needed this for ensuring kitchen cupboards were assembled straight and level, and measuring out positions for drilling.There are no metric markings on the rulers on either side. The images show only one side of the square which to me hides the fact it's an imperial only tool.Can't comment on the accuracy of either ruler or protractor.I skimmed through the reviews before buying this, but only later on saw one mentioning imperial only.Returned for a refund which was sorted without any questions.

Great for checking those angles on quick cuts and setting rafters. Superb for cross referencing dimensions when fitting kitchen handle, the extra edge sits nicely against the door or draw edge. No tool box should be without this inexpensive bit of versatile kit.
This little beauty has paid for itself on the first day. Framing and decking it did the business. it is small so not overly cumbersome, but plenty large enough for my purposes. (2”x4” for framing and 5” decking boards). It’s earned a place in my carry tool bag.
