This is a well-made product with 21st century engineering to make it as safe as possible. Features include a locking plug (push in, rotate to lock), fast and easy access to the collet for changing bits, and both a pistol grip base and a plunge router base as part of the whole package. I think it's a good buy, and I trust the DeWalt name. I bought my last router nearly 40 years ago. I worried a new router of good quality would bankrupt me, but now I wish I had bought this much sooner. It has a good balance, sure start, and sensible safety features. No chatter, no twisting out of your hand on starting, no weird whining, just quick startup and a steady whirrrr. (Wear hearing protection and safety goggles and don't sue me.) I'm pairing it with Bosch bits, which I like very much. Overall a wisely made and sturdy woodworking machine.

Arrived earlier than expected and the price was more than competitive. Lightweight but strong. The attachments/accessories are well thought out and sturdy. The "Soft-On" feature makes for a smooth startup. The variable speed dial is very sensitive, providing for excellent cutting without burns and adds bit life. It is easy to clean and store. I highly recommend this product and supplier.

Best price and quickest delivery! Acme shipped the tool out on the following day. The tool arrived in the nice Dewalt carrying case and undamaged. Upon opening the case, all the components were there and in perfect condition. I assembled the fixed base to the router motor and made a practice cut w/ an edge trimmer but. The router cut smooth as butter through 3/8” plywood that stuck out 3/8” from side of counter. The cutter/router cleaned off the entire edge w/ one pass. Smooth pass, clean cut and very little vibration. Best decision I’ve made to buy this tool from Acme!

The description of the Router combo on the Lowe's website is not accurate, according to what I got and what is listed on the manufacturer's website. The unit came with two collets, 1/4 and 1/2 inch. a centering device, three bases and a Solid well made case, that held everything although not very securely. The slots for everything did not have a means of securing it in the case except with the lid closed, nothing really rattled much. Extra Items were thrown in loose or in a plastic bags. The DW618B3 is a smooth functioning router that is well designed. The instruction manual was poorly written and unorganized. There was mention of a edge guide on the website, and confirmed by a factory rep, but that was not the case, nor was it insinuated by the Factory website. The edge guide available through the Lowes' website is not the correct one, even though the number on it implies that it is. The proper guide for the DW618B3 router is the DeWalt DW6913, and has to be special ordered. It has fine adjustment built in and vacuum attachment included. Overall, I am pleased with the contents of this Combo set and with the quality of the product. If I have one Major complaint, that would be that no extended warranty was offered for this item. With the closest Lowes over Sixty miles away, I am extremely disappointed with Lowes on this issue. I still gave this unit five stars, because the issue with an extended warranty is not part of the current sale it is the quality of the Combo that I bought. The combo set is worth every penny. The majority of the subjects that i brought up may seem trivial, but what else can you write about, when the product is close to perfection.
Great router that I was able to fit to my router table. Plus the varied bases make it fantastic. The only disappointment was that there wasn't an edge guide. I bought one for dewalt routers and now I'm set.
I bought this set a few weeks ago. And this set give you versatility to expand your routing ability!The router fits both router tables I tried it in. Additionally it comes with fixed base, plunge base and d handle. This was my first time with and handle but I’m sold on it, it allows you to keep both hands on the tool at all times and not need to lift a hand to flip the switch. I will say though that even with the fixed base, the switch is easily accessed. Set comes in a nice hard case to protect the tools. 100% recommend this set.
I'm giving this five stars for what it is. Which is a high end hobbyist cutter, not a professional router. Its powerful, hasn't bogged down on me yet. Like the variable speed, which keeps burning down on the harder woods. Also like the 1/64 adjustments. I just installed in router table, but haven't used that way yet. But it will get 95% or more use that way, instead of plunge. I got the combo kit. And the case is nice to have. This helps control cuts when edge profiling. The plunge base is second to none, and most wooworking magazines recognize this in their tool tests. The Bosch 1617 sometimes rates well, but I found the bases very sticky, and difficult to change. In contrast, the Dewalt 618 motor pulls straight out of the base - no twisting required. This router accepts standard P.C. style bushings for dovetail or inlay work. It also comes with a large-opening baseplate for larger bits. I found the accuracy of this machine to be excellent. No problem. After 2 years of regular use, it still works like new. The plunge action is excellent, and the handles are the most comfortable I have tried. You can use one wrench or two for changing bits. It comes with separate 1/4" and 1/2" collets which grip bits firmly. Height adjustments are easy and lock securely. I don't use the D-handle base as often as I thought. With the handle extending so far from the base, it can feel tippy until you get the hang of it. I think I'll mount an offset baseplate on the D-handle and use it for edge profiling. I would like to see an overmolded handle on the D-handle base. Otherwise no complaints - just another great Dewalt tool.
I have only used it twice, but so far I love it. I will say that I don't like the D-handle but that is just me. I don't have good control when using it. The tool has plenty of power and easy to adust depth. Overall it seems to be a great tool.
I bought this outfit from CPO maybe ten years ago. Feels natural in your hands. One of my biggest likes is the "Soft Start". When you turn it on it slowly comes up to speed and does not 'kick' your hands. With this feature and the built in variable speed you feel you are in control of the tool. My review title is Versatile and amongst other things is you can use inexpensive 1/4" bits in this unit. Think of this as six routers, 1/4" and 1/2" fixed, plunge and D handle. One last thing... the price is right and Dewalt is going to be around for a long time. Professional tool. Go for it.
