Really impressed! A ton of variety (at least one expansion's worth, maybe two) and a fair amount of depth.I disagree with the idea that this is a multiplayer solitaire game. Grain production is a significant point of interaction.

You will read or watch a lot of reviews poo-pooing the pre-game setup. It does take a while, but they provide nice, sturdy plastic trays for the die faces. And, one completed, it's easy to set up in the future and switch between faces. For me, this is an upgraded version of Dominion, simply because I love dice rolling. The little dice are nice and chonky sized to fit the faces, and have good heft when rolling. Swapping the faces is easy amd quick once you've done a couple. The game gives you lots of setups it suggests, or you can randomize it yourself. Love the replayability provided with this thought process. This will roll across my table often, as it is a quick up and down, so you can fit in a couple games in an hour or two.

Dice Realms plays pretty quick, and even though it looks like a bear to setup once you get the mechanics down setup is actually pretty quick too. I love the dice mechanics and the randomness that brings to each players turn. You have to develop a strategy to mitigate that randomness the best you can. Clean up and resetting for the next game is a slight task, again once you get a hang for the mechanics it actually isn't too bad. My only real complaint is the dice faces, while functional, and iconography is pretty straightforward, it is a bit dull. The artwork on the tiles you pull out to randomize the game is nice.
