Always different
Look, I love Dickies and they are really the only pants or shorts that I wear. I do not understand why every single pair of pants I get from them is different in every way possible. My last order was size 36X30, 874 flex work pants. I ordered 2 different colors. Both are great and very close in size. Both have the "active waist" which stretches and is really great. They also had the "cell phone pocket". This pocked is cool, but not a big deal.My most recent order was for 2 pairs of 874 Flex work pants in different colors. One pair is at least 1-2 inches smaller in the waist. Neither pair stretches in the waist at all. Neither pair has the "cell phone pocket". Every time they are a different measurement in the waist or feel like different pants all together.Would be very nice if there was some sort of consistency, especially in such important details. The waist should be the same size, or at least close. The "active" waist should stretch at least a little bit. My new pants honestly feel like the wrong item with the work "Flex" put on them.Like I said, I love Dickies when they are right so I will keep coming back. I'm just wishing they would be more consistent.... Show more

Definitely not "flex"
Too soon to really tell. Bought these for work. They're well made for the price. However the name is very misleading. I don't know who decided to use the word "flex" for these pants. The waist doesn't adjust and this is the stiffest pair of pants I've ever had. Also Dickes in general run very small so go two sizes up. I saw that online, thought it was ridiculous but did it anyway to be safe. I'm glad I did because they *just* fit. They need to change the name of these pants.... Show more

Not the Dickies I know.
I have given this order 1 star because there is nothing lower. On the new pants that I received and returned; 1. they were marked 36x30 (the size I ordered) but the waist measured 30". 2. the fabric felt cheap and synthetic. the belt loops were twice as wide as they were on the last pairs that I had bought, easily twice as wide as needed. 3. The closure at the belt line was a button but has been replaced with a cheap metal "hook and eye" type closure. Overall "CHEAP","INFERIOR", "POOR QUALITY".... Show more

pending.... review for durablility, comfort, price
Dickies, Red Kap and any other work clothes tend to need to go up a size when ordering. Many reviews state the customers are upset about the size being small. I have been a diesel mechanic for 25 years. I learned that 25 years ago. I buy 10/ year. I dont think someone's lack of knowledge about a product is cause for a negative review. I like Dickies and RedKap. This is my first time going with flex. I will update review once I have seen how they hold up to my destructive life in the shop. Please leave reviews for how well it resisted stains, tears, burns, comfort, style, and anything else to do with the product. Please advise others to go one size higher. That is normal in the industry. We have 20 people who have never had Dickies and will never do any work ... MoreDickies, Red Kap and any other work clothes tend to need to go up a size when ordering. Sizes messed up across different styles of pants
Previously I bought Duratech Ranger pants in 32x30 and I love them. When I tried to buy more this time, Dickies doesn't have the color my job requires in stock. I tried the Flex 874 in the same size and that was bad. Way too small in the waist. How can Dickies 32x30 be different from one style to the next? Are they using a different unit of measure for different styles? I had to go to the store in Fort Worth and exchange them, not convenient. Dickies, if you are reading this, contact me for a tape measure so your entire line can be the correct sizes.... Show more

Something changed
I don't know what's happened. I've been wearing 874's for 30+ years so I know how they fit. I recently bought a pair of the 874 flex pants and I bought the same exact size I have been for about 5-6 years. Same exact color, waist, and inseam that I did last time. The fabric feels different, they are an inch or so longer, and even though they appear to be the same size waist I can't even get them on. I don't know what the heck the deal is. I laid them down over my other 874 pants. As I said before they look like they are the same size waist but they don't fit!... Show more

Super Comfortable, Terrible Pilling
I bought these pants as a comfortable alternative to slacks that could be worn in a casual to business-casual type setting. The fit is very loose, as is to be expected of a work pants, but after a DIY taper on the pant leg, these quickly became my favorite pair of pantsPROS:- Comfort : These pants (especially after a few washes) seriously feel like pajamas. Even in tighter sections, these pants are incredibly light and breathable.- Staining : I have routinely painted, ate, and done lawn-work in these pants. Everything I have encountered has come out with just a little bit of water and elbow grease. The color has not faded at all and looks quite similar to the day I got them.- Durability : Whether it comes to crouching down, rolling around, wiping off your ... You can definitely feel the flex in the waist and paint leg, and I have never really gotten close to tearing or ripping these pants in any way, except for...CONS:- PILLING : The pilling on these pants is, for whatever reason, terrible. Typically, the pilling appears in any place that experiences rubbing, which includes the inner pant leg, upper thigh, and ESPECIALLY the groin. Despite turning the pants inside out when washed, the pilling is a persistent issue that I could not solve. To put into perspective, I had these pants for around 6 months, where I would wear them about 3 days a week, and the pilling has since caused about 2 quarter-sized holes in the groin area of the pants. The entirety of the surrounding area, as well, is paper thin. Admittedly, I probably did a lot more walking than is typical of a normal use of these pants, but my point still stands. While nearly perfect in almost every other regard, I predict that you would only be able to get 6-12 months out of these pants before they are practically unusable. It should be noted that this is NOT a problem I have encountered in the original pair of 874s, while those are typically a little more rigid and durable.... Show more

Waist size - either too small or WAY too small.
Agree with many commenters that these are great pants, but the waist sizing is all over the place. All the pants I own are 36/34. I ordered three pairs of these, in 36/34, and all three had different waist sizes. One I could squeeze into, the other two were impossible to wear. The grey ones were 34 in the waist at best, maybe smaller. I ordered one pair of 36/34 original (non-flex) 874, and the sizing was even more off. It's fine if you, as a company, decide to build your pants to a smaller size standard, but just say so in the product descriptions so we can order accordingly.... Show more

Waist size runs too small
I’m a 32 waist across the board, but for some reason dickies sizing seems smaller than average. I ordered a 33 waist and still too tight, i have another pair I ordered a year in 32 waist, and that was also too tight. So I have two new pants I don’t wear because the classic style dickies runs too small. I own carpenter pants size 33 from Dickies and they are perfect. I have slim fit 32 waist dickies and they also fit perfect. This 874 classic cut runs really small. Size up two sizes is my recommendation for the classic cut.... Show more

What more can you ask for.
These pants are pretty much perfect for the style of pant they are. Not too baggy, and not too slim. Not sure if anyone notices one of the biggest differences between the 874 flex and the regular 874, other than the material stiffness, is the belt loops. The flex fit are longer in a length, allowing you to wear a more sturdy built 1.5” edc belt. The original 874 belt loop sizing will drive you insane trying to get your belt through them. I am referring to a 1.5” edc belt though. I really really wish Dickies would make the belt loops longer on the original 874 also. I’m forced to buy the flex 874, purely cause of the belt loops. Zoom in on the pictures on the site and you will see the difference in where the bottom of the belt loops are stitched... Show more
