4 Stars
Everything was as it should be, except for one minor thing. The reason I got the shorts was for work. Had been wearing Dickies pants but live in Texas. I was hoping the shorts were the same material, but they were a bit coarser. 4 stars though.... Show more

Been wearing them for 4 years
I've been wearing these for 4 years, and work a very physical job, where they get abused, yet they take the abuse pretty well. They last about 2 years before I need to order more. I just wish they would allow more air flow in the hot summer days. Other than that, I love them.... Show more

Dickies Sizes Are Smaller Than Advertised
I have worn Dickies 100% cotton loose fit cargo pants for several years. When I decided to try some of their loose fit cargo shorts, I called the company and talked to a lady who gave me the specs on the shorts. To be on the safe side, she and I decided to order a waist size two inches larger than the Dickies pants I wear that are comfortably sized for me. When the shorts arrived, they were way to small. I should have ordered a waist size 4 INCHES larger than their pants. I sent them back to exchange for the larger size. They were delivered back to their warehouse 5 days ago (I tracked them) and so far I have not heard anything about the shipment of replacements. Frustrating to say the least when you talk to a company rep for sizes and you know the size you wear in ... MoreI have worn Dickies 100% cotton loose fit cargo pants for several years. If they don't fit this time, I'm done with Dickies.... Show more

Dickies work pants and shorts
Everything was fine about this order except that I ordered the wrong style, loose fit was way too baggy for me. The return was absolutely simple, so I ordered two other styles to try them. As I’m not afraid to return any if I have to. I love these pants and shorts, as I do Hvac work. They are professional looking, durable and comfortable. Except this time I did get the double knee pants because I do work through this so if you work on your knees a lot like I do, you’ll want them. That’s what killed my last pair. Also once in a while a button pops off the waist. I’m hoping getting a size up will prevent that this time.... Show more

Good work shorts with a couple of caveats
A nice cargo shorts version of the original 874 work pants, or a shorts version of the cargo 874s (the WP592). Comfortable, durable, and without the sloppy look of a lot of "pre-washed" casual cargo shorts that would rule them out for sensible workwear (at least where shorts are allowed). That being said, 8.5 oz poly/cotton blend twill is hardly the softest fabric mix available--it's got the same iron touch of the 874s--but in shorts it's tolerable even in very hot weather. The cargo pockets are neat and practical but not oversized, so you really can't stuff them to an MC Hammer-level look.My real complaints are first with the slide hook fly closure, which also looks neat, but never stays very secure, even with a belt--I still prefer a button or a rivet like on ... Second, the small "signature tunnel" belt loops are wide and tough but can barely accommodate a 1.5" belt, and certainly not the 1.75" belts I prefer to wear on long days. Again, this makes sense to limit to more dress type belts for work uniforms where the belt might show, but is frustrating when even most dress pants have larger belt loops.Versatile enough for work and most casual wear (I might not try swimming in them, though), these are a very durable and practical pair of shorts for the price.... Great fit and very durable.
Heavy duty, easy to clean, and great fit. I have been wearing 40,42,&44 for last 20 years or more. I am currently in the 42-44 range and went with the 44 just to be safe. They looked huge when I opened the package. The heavy material just makes them appear bigger than they are. The fit was perfect however. I am an engineer and do repairs on factory machinery. Factories are generally warm here in NC and the shorts make it bearable during the summer months. Khakis won't last one day in thus occupation. The grease, dust, and oil is just too much. Dickies dark colors are the only thing that does the trick. It's obvious these shorts were designed with the working man in mind. The shorts just make life easier. The material refuses to rip or tear in heavy duty use. To sum it up: great product. Great fit. Great ordering experiance. Better price on Dickies site than local stores. Fast delivery. Couldn't be happier.... Show more

Nice, but could be better
Very nice pair of Dickies shorts, but the Metal Clip is horrible. There should be a snap button to fasten pants and shorts. That clip should be for Dress Pants. I deem these as Work Shorts. I am not going to church... Show more

Sizing/Quality
Not even close to being sized correctly. Runs extra small in the waist and extra extra large in the seat and legs. “Loose fit” should be super loose fit for tiny waists. Extremely cheap hook fastener at the waist. The quality control of this garment reflects the last several purchases I have made of Dickies; the quality of everything is deteriorating as is noted by other reviewers: t-shirts with tiny short sleeves; pockets that are under the armpit: scrubs sized incorrectly.... Waistband
The quality of the shorts is good. The inconsistency in sizes is not good at all. Husband is wearing 36 which are a little tight in the waistband. Purchased 38 and they were extremely tight in the waistbands. Sent them back and got 42 and they are too big in the whole body of the shorts. The waistband is a little big. Waistband needs to be consistent... Show more
