Appears to be well made, works as described and reasonably easy to operate at a very moderate price. The 5" screen is great for reviewing and adjusting the lighting or color of the slide if necessary. Note that it does not operate on an electric wall outlet. It operates off of one of your computer's USB outlets. A second outlet is required to down load the pictures, however I removed the SD card and put it in my desk top computer's chip outlet as I do when transferring pictures from my camera. It worked fine and the pictures looked great on the computer's large screen. I will be digitizing approximately 2000 35mm slides. Very pleased with the unit.... Show more

I was looking at over 1000 - 35mm slides that needed to be scanned. After researching the cost of having them done professionally, I took a chance on this scanner and am very pleasedThe overall quality is more rugged than I anticipated and it is quite compact In size. The product’s interface is not too slick, but the instructions were very easy to follow. I actually plugged the scanner into a PC monitor via the HDMI output (cable included) which allowed me to ensure the slide was clean and positioned correctly before scanning. Sometimes it froze and had to be restarted, but images were never lost. Also, you must manually insert the slides into the guide and push them into position. Easy set up. Be sure you have an SD card (not included) with adapter. It took me a little while to remember which buttons did what, but once I got the hang of it, it was super easy to operate. I chose this model because it had the biggest screen so you can really see the image you are working on. Transfers to my Windows 10 computer are super easy. A great project during the corona virus lock-down to convert all my grandparents' slides to digital. One caveat, some of their slides were bigger than 35mm so the whole image doesn't convert. I was able to work around on most of them by inserting the slide rotated 90 or 180 degrees to get the subject into the converted image.... Show more

We "found" boxes and boxes of 33mm slides the other day dating back to 1982. What a find! Using this device we now have all our discovered memories on both of our laptops! Now, it's easy to create a slide show on a big screen TV. Simple to use, and with practice, it can be fast. It will not change a slide picture - you will get what your slide displays (and old slides can fade out). But once on your computer, you can use what photo adjustments you have to at least attempt to improve the shot! It can be fun, and it is certainly worth the effort to rescue those old slides! NOTE: It will NOT scan a printed photo into a .jpg file!... Show more

I used to be a professional photographer 20 years ago and have a lot of images to scan. Color, B&W and slides. I was looking for a scanner that could process the images fast and transfer to my computer directly. I did not want to have to take out an SD card, scan the images to it, take it up and than transfer to the computer. This little scanner does the job. It does not transfer directly to the computer but does have an option to enable to transfer directly via USB. It works just fine. This is not a professional grade scanner but for DIY or someone who just wants to digitize their images this is perfect. Color balance and image adjustments work fine. (1) 35mm image only takes 1 or 2 seconds to scan and transfer to the computer is also just as fast. Keep in mind this device cannot fix bad images. Over time film will degrade, scratch, bend, melt etc and this device cannot fix that. But you can fix those issues on the computer with software. But for simple memory preservation you can't beat this scanner.... Show more

Excellent value for the money! High quality scans, options to adjust exposure and color balance. So far, I've only scanned slides, not negatives. The slide tray could be better, in that slides sometimes don't move through it smoothly. Ideally, I'd like to see a spring-loaded mechanism that loads & centers each slide automatically with a simple push to insert. Images stored on the SD card can be transferred to a computer via USB cable or inserting the card in your PC's SD slot. I can't comment on how this scanner compares to any other, but I instinctively trust Kodak to make a quality, easy-to-use product.... Show more

Great item for the price point. I have several hundred 35mm slides to convert to digital. The adapter for them is a good fit. Push the slides through 1 after the other. Each successive slide lines up the preceding slide in the viewer. Press the button to copy and push in the next slide. Adapter holds 3 total slides so the 4th slide pushes the first side out the other side. If the slide picture quality is good then its a job of push slide, click, push, click. There is color and contrast adjustment built in which works well enough for minor adjustments. It would become unneccessarily complicated to add many more exposure adjustments. The display is sharp and the 5" screen is great. You can transfer directly from the SD card while its in the unit .. switch to USB ... MoreGreat item for the price point. Small for Big Projects
I gave this a 5-star rating because it does what it's supposed to do -- there aren't a lot of products out there for scanning 126 slides, and those that are, work pretty much the same way. You can choose the resolution in the settings, either 14 MP or 22 MP, but there is a note that 126 film will scan at 16 MP (for which there is no setting, so I assume the 126 setting is automatic and is not adjustable). It isn't difficult to operate, but it is very time consuming, as each slide is done individually. In my case, I am working with 50-year-old 126 slides that were often blue-ish -- each slide needed to be manually color adjusted before scanning (although the scanner maintains settings from slide to slide, so if you have a bunch of blue-ish slides you don't really ... It isn't difficult to operate, but it is very time consuming, as each slide is done individually. In my case, I am working with 50-year-old 126 slides that were often blue-ish -- each slide needed to be manually color adjusted before scanning (although the scanner maintains settings from slide to slide, so if you have a bunch of blue-ish slides you don't really need to adjust each one). I was surprised at the results I could get, though, with the manual color editing tools. See the pictures I have included of a straight scan (the slide was a very blue picture taken from an airplane), 2nd one using the on-board scanner adjustments, and the 3rd is using the PC auto-enhancer in the Photos app. The scanner really does a decent job in and of itself. Also, the files are not huge. I'm using a 32 GB memory card. Scanning about 150 slides only used about 340 MB of space, so with 32 GB you will get literally thousands of pictures. It's perfect for what I need it to do -- I have my folks' slides from 70 years ago, and don't need to worry about a 3rd party losing them or damaging them. They're irreplaceable and I feel much more comfortable handling them myself, even if it is a time-consuming project. Also does well with negatives -- better than with slides actually. I tried some 35mm late '70s negatives, and the resulting pictures are crystal clear -- the color much better than when they've already been processed. The little notches didn't catch at all, it felt like there was plenty of space and the strip slid easier than slides. I expected it would be a very delicate operation that would need to be done carefully to avoid scratches etc. but that was a non-issue -- never even came close to damaging anything. Also no color adjustments were needed when working directly with the negatives. Great fun going through all these memories!... Show more

The handiest way digitize old film and slides.
No scanner will give you picture perfect results, all require post processing of the scanned image, this one is no better or worse in providing a usable image than more expensive scanners. In post processing I achieved some amazing results from long faded film negatives and 35mm slides. At the time of this review I have scanned over 900 images. Note it won't fix a bad photo.... Very usable film and slide scanner.
Scanned about 1000 slides and negatives in last week. Was able to pull out some almost non-existent images on ancient slides. Fairly easy to use. Had some jamming of paper mount slides in adapter. Minor annoyance. The instruction book was not very well written or comprehensive. Most functions easy to figure out. Power time out is bothersome. Haven't figured how to lengthen working time or disable time out. Adding SD card helps extend time between dumps. Photo quality good. Provides enough to clean up with Photoshop. Liked this scanner and will use it a lot digitizing old negatives and slides.... Show more
