This is a smooth, neutral-toned lipstick, perfect for a classic red lip. The satin finish is hydrating, and has a slight sheen without looking glossy at all. The texture makes it really easy to apply and it doesn’t require as much prep as a matte finish or liquid lipstick. Because of this, it can also transfer more easily and won’t hold up as long as the other formulas. But having tried them all, I personally love this formula the most since it can be worn more regularly. It can be blotted out for a soft look, or applied fully so I think it works in both casual and glam makeup looks. I compared 3 formulas of the 999 color to show the different finishes (attached pics). Forever Liquid Lacquer is a high shine liquid lipstick and the same lipstick in the Matte finish is also swatched. Both photos were taken indoors, under natural sunlight. I would choose the Satin version if you like a more comfortable, balmy textured lipstick.

The legendary red lipstick, Dior's signature, 999 bright red is now "reissued" with a velvet texture and a much more luxurious exterior. I am so in love with this new design with mysterious black shell and shiny patterns, the lipstick itself is engraved with the most meticulous, and beautiful patterns. My favorite part is it comes in refill form, which means I can buy another core to replace it without having to buy a new tube, helping to save outstanding costs..Besides, the formula also has the ability to hold color extremely well, no feathering, without causing my lips to dry. I usually have to apply moisturizer first before I dare to use matte lipstick. But with this Dior Rouge Velvet lipstick, there is no need to combine anything else. I received these products for free from Influenster and Dior in exchange for my honest review. With that being said I made sure to take my time and make sure I was giving more than just a “first impression”. The packaging is very sleek and chic; the magnetic top is an absolute game changer no more lids popping off and ruining your lipstick! Another big plus is that the packaging is made to simply be refilled rather than buying a whole new lipstick and case. For the lipstick itself it has a very nice shape that allows you to almost line your lips with the tip and then fill in with the base. It is not a long wear lipstick in that it does not budge or transfer (it most certainly does) however it does leave behind the most beautiful stain which does give the impression of a longer wear. First swatch is pretty nice but I definitely would recommend a lip liner and at least two passes on the lips for the best result. Overall I love this lipstick and this particular shade of red definitely brightens my face/look and is lovely to wear day to day!

I thought this lipstick was absolutely beautiful on my lips. It felt nice smooth and silky. Left a nice matte Look on the finish. It left my lips feeling soft and smooth. Did not dry out or crack my lips after use the color lasted pretty much the entire day only had to reapply once towards the evening, I would recommend anybody who’s looking for a very bold red bright lip for a night out on the town or just a feel good about yourself. I love the little container as it is designed beautifully and it’s also great and functionality small and compacting enough to fit into my purse and take along anywhere just spurs up or feel beautiful at any moment. I have been a fan of 999 for as long as I can remember. The perfect blue-red shade has gotten me compliments throughout the years. I was so excited to try out this new hydrating formula. I'm happy to say this formula outdid the classic matte. I attached a photo of the 2 swatches, the top row being the matte and the bottom being the new satin hydrating finish. You can see the color is the same, the matte being more drying on the skin. Either way, both formulations are beautiful it just depends on what finish you are going for. This new formulation is hydrating which is great in the winter, non-drying, non-sticky, and lasts all day and night. I love how it felt when applied, it was lightweight, non-drying, and still had the same blue-red that I love. I used this ... MoreI have been a fan of 999 for as long as I can remember. It's a cult classic for a reason, the ultimate red to use during the holidays, on a hot date, or even for that extra boost of confidence.
i recieved this product in exchange fory honest review and i have to say im ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE! this has became my NEW FAVORITE LIPSTICK. i wear this everyday and it is just what i needed to complete my makeup routine. it goes on so well, has a fairly long wear life without staining your lips. it is also ironically very hydrating as most long wear lipsticks definitely are not. its matte but has the most statin velvet finish. The price is a bit high for lipstick but with this amazing brand that is always reliable and this product alone i truly believe its worth it and im not a "lable only" kinda.girly.. not to mention this is REFILLABLE. which i absolutely will be doing. the packaging is BEAUTIFUL and sleek and super elegant. im so super pleased with this and super ... Morei recieved this product in exchange fory honest review and i have to say im ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE! this has became my NEW FAVORITE LIPSTICK. i wear this everyday and it is just what i needed to complete my makeup routine. it goes on so well, has a fairly long wear life without staining your lips. it is also ironically very hydrating as most long wear lipsticks definitely are not. its matte but has the most statin velvet finish. I love shade 300 in Rouge Dior Velvet Traditional Bullet Lipstick. Mostly toasted taupe with a mauve undertone. Very pigmented and long-lasting. It has a strong floral fragrance and it is blurring/smoothing on the lips. The finish of velvet is an almost matte with a dash of satin smooth. This is a safe everyday natural color. This does transfer but it is a more resistant formula than others. I found it took 3 swipes to notice it diminishing and it appears darker than the swatch. This is my shade of my lips but better. Beautiful solid packaging in classic Dior fashion embellished with the Dior namebrand as you roll up your rouge. If youre looking for an everyday wear, this is a safe option for the neutral or natural lovers. I still cannot justify the price point for ... MoreI love shade 300 in Rouge Dior Velvet Traditional Bullet Lipstick. Mostly toasted taupe with a mauve undertone. Very pigmented and long-lasting. Dior's newest Rouge Dior Couture Colour Lipstick in 999 Satin may be the most beautiful shade of red I've ever seen. The satin finish allows the shade to look & feel rich & creamy while also providing noticeable hydration to the lips. The popularity of this lovely shade of red has stood the test of time for a reason. The pigmentation is off the charts, but somehow still manages to present itself with optimal class & luxury! I loved how I could use the tip of the lipstick for a quick lining of the outer lips before applying all-over. This formula somehow plumps the lips while filling & blurring any fine lines leaving you with a gorgeous pucker that lasts for hours! I also think it's worth mentioning the skin loving ingredients that lend many benefits to the lips immediately and over time. Thanks to flower extracts & shea butter, to name a few, this formula not only looks beautiful, but it leaves you with soft, supple lips while nourishing them as well. It goes without saying that the component that houses this fabulous formula is just as impressive with a simplistic, yet stylish design that looks & feels of luxury! Not to mention the iconic CD logo that graces the outer housing. Dior checked all the boxes from the most important being the quality & performance of the lipstick itself to the refillable casing! Needless to say, I can't wait to try more shades from the Rouge Dior Couture Colour Lipstick line featuring Floral Lip Care and Long Wear!!
I received the Rouge Dior Velvet Shade 999 in exchange for my honest review. This is the prettiest lipstick I now own: the packaging it came in was high quality and little details like DIOR embossed on the side of the box the lipstick tube comes in were very nice details. The tube itself is also gorgeous. Looking at old videos on TikTok you can see that they changed the top of the cap to now have a square pattern mirror finish instead of the brand name. The tube is also refillable, which is a nice touch because it reduces waste, and it has a magnetic close, which I love. The last detail is the lipstick, which has a grid pattern and DIOR carved into it - this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on any lipsticks. The last detail is the lipstick, which has a grid pattern and DIOR carved into it - this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on any lipsticks. When I first applied the lipstick it felt like I was using a lip pencil because it felt dry but it went on incredibly smoothly and fully pigmented, and the finish on my lips was a comfortable satiny finish despite being their matte/velvet version, and it didn’t feel dry on my lips at all. I was able to wear it all day (even though it is not transfer proof), and when it had faded, it left a pink stain on my lips that was as equally beautiful as the lipstick itself and still comfortable. It didn’t sink into any lines, it didn’t bleed out at all and I didn’t use a lip liner either - this is just a very high quality lipstick. I feel like a lot of brands just make basic stuff and slap their brand on it and inflate the price, but that’s not true for this Dior lipstick; you can tell a lot of attention to detail went into this lipstick not only towards the packaging design but the formula and comfortablity. I prefer this formula to all other matte formulas because of how comfortable it is. I wish all lipsticks were like this. The shade itself is also universally flattering - I truly love the color on me. It’s still a very expensive lipstick but it’s 100% worth it. I’m probably going to be wearing red lipstick as often as Taylor Swift while I save up to buy more shades.
I have always been a fan of a bold red lip, and Dior's shade 999 lipstick has been one of my favorites for years. In the past, I have purchased it in the matte finish, but I recently received the velvet matte finish in shade 999. I am blown away by how much I like the velvet matte more than the regular matte finish. This version of the lipstick is so incredibly comfortable and hydrating, yet still super durable on my lips.Even without wearing a lip liner, this lipstick stays in place perfectly all day without any feathering. When drinking, only a minor transfer is left on a glass, and you can eat many types of non-greasy foods with it staying in place. It smells rather flowery to me, which I don't like, but I'm willing to look past that completely because of how well this lipstick wears.
