The Disney Pixar Lightyear Blast & Battle XL-15 is so much fun! It requires some parent assembly initially, but the directions are pretty straight forward and the parts snap on fairly easily. The handle/lever at the back of the XL-15 works well to open up or close the cockpit. It did take a little more pressure than initially anticipated to get it to close all of the way. The Buzz Lightyear figure can stand easily on his own on a flat surface. When his jetpack is on, it is a little trickier to get him balanced, but we found that if we have him lean a little bit forward at the waist he will stand.Our favorite part was definitely the missile launchers. From first look, this vehicle definitely has a "Wow" factor in it's packaging. The vehicle itself is large and sturdy and begs to be played with. Adult assembly is definitely required as some pieces need a bit of effort to snap together. I wasn't expecting the size of the plane to be on this larger scale which my son really enjoys, but it's really a two hand kind of toy. The feature that allows Buzz to break out of the canopy and extend his jet pack is really fun! My 5 y/o got a bit frustrated with trying to keep the canopy closed and as a result, decided to leave it off of the plane all together. Even I struggled a couple of times to get the canopy to stay closed with Buzz and Jetpack in place. It really is a fun toy overall, we've definitely had a blast playing with it.

My son was super impressed with the Disney Pixar Lightyear – Navicella XL-15 it got a big WOW as he opened the box. He absolutely loved the movie and also loves spacecraft so this was a perfect combination. It was easy to unbox and good quality material, not cheap like some plastic can be. Easy to use and very robust which I need for a busy 5 year old who throws and drops things. It is great for imaginative play and he has spent hours playing out battles and scenarios. His older sisters have also had a play and enjoyed massively. It’s a good size and easy to store. I don’t really have any faults at all with it. A lovely toy.

Doors do not stay closed, with or without Buzz inside. You must clip his feet in, clip his waist in, lay him back, make sure wings are facing into back slots and secure him in with helmet and even if and once you have done that, the doors don't stay closed. Only after I heavily hit the doors and they remained shut, when I used the lever to open them, Buzz was stuck and the doors didn't open without force. Terribly tricky and not at all easy for basic play. Heartbroken that after the excited reception from my daughter upon opening at Xmas, I had to tell her it was broken. Will not rebuy because many other reviewers stated the same problem.
This toy was received as part of a review program. Firstly is was a nice surprise to see just how well-made and solid the toy both looks and feels. The plastics are of a nice quality and the design is satisfyingly intricate with moving parts that open and close, as well as shoot hidden spring-loaded objects. The included Buzz Lightyear action figure fits snugly inside the cockpit and can eject with a lever pull, (Very fun). The landing wheels don’t roll which is a slight oversight, but doesn’t take much away from the experience. We love the quality and imagination and hope Mattel will continue in this direction with all other toys in the future. Would definitely recommend!
This toy is a lot bigger than pictured which is a nice surprise. The problem is all the pieces are either attached poorly and keep falling off or they won’t stay closed. Buzz’s jet pack and hood fall off constantly. There isn’t any sort of locking mechanism to keep them on. The cockpit will not stay closed unless Buzz is perfectly seated which is almost impossible to do. Save yourself a headache and don’t purchase this toy. I would definitely be returning it if my son didn’t love it so much. So much so that he asks me at least 20 times an hour to close the cockpit back and replace the jet pack.

Just looking at it in the box it's very cool. It requires a little bit of assembly but it's pretty easy. I gave this to my 6 year old who was super excited. Their favourite feature is that it shoots missiles! They travel pretty far but aren't the biggest so we have managed to lose them a few times. The cockpit bit is cool, there's a handle that goes in and out and moves buzz in and out of the ship. For the most part it works but on occasion it doesn't close properly. As you can imagine an impatient 6 year old wouldn't try and work out why it's not closing and would try to force it. I can imagine with enough of a push it could break. A pretty decent toy, with a few minor tweaks it could be perfect.
