I decided to get the Air 2 S after flying the Mavic Mini for over 2 years and debated whether to get this drone or the Mavic Mini 3 Pro. The price for the Fly More Combo was $1,109 and cheaper than the Mini 3 Pro Fly More Combo. Also, the heavier Air 2 S performs much better in the wind than the lighter Mini 3 Pro. Another factor was that the camera in the Air 2 S has a 1 inch sensor with outstanding quality and 5.4 K video. I have been blown away by the quality of video footage and images. The drone is easy to fly. The flight time with the batteries (26 minutes) are a bit of an issue, but with the 2 extra batteries I got with the Fly More Combo, that's not a big deal for me. Just don't push the batteries to the limit and return to home before you get in trouble. ... I then went to the Mavic Air 2 when I needed something smaller that wasn't a distraction as I documented a one year EPA Super-Fund site remediation project. I'm a licensed FAA Part 107 UAS pilot. The EPA wanted quality; the contractors wanted no distractions, so the Air 2 filled the bill. Most of the time, they never knew I was there. They never saw me and I seldom flew below 150 feet, so it was practically invisible in the sky and noiseless because of the ambient noise of the construction. Then, something interfered with the signal or there was a malfunction of some sort and it ... The Air 2 advertises itself as having a 48MP camera, but that's misleading. It achieves that by basically tricking the sensor to split the 12 pixels into quarters and calling it 48. The Air 2S has a much larger sensor and the real 12 MP it produces is 4 times better than the quality of the Air 2. The additional 2 anti collision sensors added to the top front of the drone gives it even more protection when flying close to trees or other obstacles. Flight time is the same for both units and the batteries and propellers are interchangeable. It won't work with the Smart Controller I used for the Air 2 (bummer) because it's really nice to have a dedicated remote rather than taking the time to attach the phone, but that's a small price to play. All-in-all, a great product I would recommend to anyone looking to get into the middle end of the drone market.

No need for an expensive "fly-more" kit right away. No, it does not have optical zoom. It has a fixed aperture which cannot be adjusted in flight as with the Mavic 3 3 Pro. If that is what your business needs require, spend for the higher priced drone. For most "planned" flying, I use filters that adjust the light where I need it. Yes, I must plan that before taking off to do any photography or videography. It is small enough that weight is not issue if carrying it on a hiking trip or long walk. Yes, it will require Remote ID later this year. Battery life with the 2S is not as long as I would like, but ... Yes, I must plan that before taking off to do any photography or videography. It is small enough that weight is not issue if carrying it on a hiking trip or long walk. Yes, it will require Remote ID later this year. Battery life with the 2S is not as long as I would like, but that requires a more expensive drone or a Mavic Mini 3 Pro. Then the mini is no longer below 250 grams which will then require Remote ID.

It also can't be charged via USB like the Mini 2, something to keep in mind for extended excursions--there are aftermarket car chargers available, at least.Lastly, its larger size does make this a louder drone than the Mini 2. With the Mini 2, it was practically inaudible once up to 100 feet or so, which is nice for trying to remain stealthy. The Air 2S I can still hear pretty clearly in relatively quiet environments. I did get a set of Master Airscrew Stealth props, which do make it a bit lower-pitched if not actually more quiet.All in all, I can highly recommend the Air 2S for newcomers, or for those looking to take the next step from a Mini or older-gen drone. I'd certainly recommend springing for the Fly More Combo as well--the case alone is very nice for storage and portability, and the extra batteries are crucial for a day out with the drone.
It was time to trade up from a beginner drone that used my cellphone to one that offered more features and a higher quality still image. Compared to what I used to use, this drone is way easier to operate as well. Features that matter are the ability to take RAW images instead of just jpegs (creates dng files, no problem), longer fly times up to around 32 minutes, auto-orientation (so you don't have to manually prep for positioning), obstacle avoidance, and that controller (keep your cellphone in its case and in your pocket). If you're a video shooter, there are way more options for frame rate, etc., and you can use the automatic features like follow me, circle, preset pattern, and more. The fixed f/stop lens isn't that much of an issue, and the kit comes with 2 ND filters that should help you get to the exposure you need, especially when capturing video footage. I haven't tried night shooting yet because I haven't needed it yet. I use this drone mainly for capturing features useful to local historical societies. The field of view is wide, but judicious cropping is possible at 20mp. I know that this kit is pricey, but you do get what you're paying for. I think it was well worth what it cost.

This does come without the blades fitted but they are so easy to put on. When you first get this don't think you will be able to fly straight away you have things to do, batteries need charging, controller needs charging, blades to be fitted. register and put on your reg number to the drone it's up to you but go to DJI website and get DJI Plus cover & on top of that maybe get liability insurance, Plus don't forget to get and update the fly app. Maybe think about the day after you have received it would be more realistic time frame to fly. The drone it's self is great to fly it also has lights on the sides plus a bright white landing night if you are flying in the dark, this only comes on automictically when landing and is near to the floor. Controller battery last for a long time and so far have flown my drone for about 28 minutes before needing to land to change drone battery. Camera on this is of a very good quality and the videos this can do is of a very good quality as well but I have not really had chance to push this to it's limits as in flying or making of video's but I'm sure it's not going to let me down. I have found out that trying to put a picture from drone to here on this website, I have had to down size the picture and quality. I am now looking for a Air 2s drone backpack as for the bag it comes with is OK I just think it would be better in a more tighter and purpose built backpack for when I'm walking around.

Like the Mavic Air 2, the Air 2S also unfortunately has a fixed f/2.8 aperture - this is the only negative (but certainly not a deal breaker) and it still produces very good images up to ISO3200 and only when you get to 6400 that noise becomes apparent - the gimbal and stabilizer works a treat and video is almost seamless with no detectable jerkiness or motion artefacts. Build quality is very good , flight time around 30 - 35 minutes depending on wind and conditions, has many collision avoidance sensors, auto return home when battery getting low etc. etc. . Can recommend this drone - very happy with it.
