DJI FPV Combo - Drone

EDIT: I originally rated the DJI FPV a one star and said don’t buy it. I kept getting the error message that something was interfering with the signal preventing me from taking off. I read in forums it was the new iPhone, Apple Watch etc., to recalibrate everything, to reinstall the software and nothing worked, and yes I did everything, many times. Then I went a bought all new batteries and the problem was solved, it’s the batteries not the drone, not the controllers, the batteries. If you are getting these error messages preventing you from taking off get new batteries. If the new ones do the same or you get the same error message take the batteries back and exchange them. Once I fixed the battery issues it works great! I left my original post below that resulted in one star but since then the drones phenomenal I bought this FPV drone combo for Christmas for myself. Out of the box there was trouble with the app updating the firmware so I called tech support and they had me download and update the firmware from the FPV site. After a full day the drone finally worked. Got up the next day and went to fly the drone and the same issue came up. Updated the firmware again and still the same issue. I own another drone so I know what I’m doing. The FPV is a good thought but just an expensive bookend at this point. Also, for Mac users the DJI assist 2 will not work with Mac. Spend your money on something else, this isn’t worth it, more issues and trouble than it’s worth.

10 minute flying time tops!!

This was my very first drone. I did not do any research before this purchase. It’s takes close to 2.5 hours to fully charge the drone battery. And the longest flight time was around 10 minutes. In order for you to be able to fly this drone for longer times you have to buy the “fly more kit” which gives you two additional batteries.The camera was pretty good but not what I would expect. 2.5 hours for 10 minutes of fun isn’t worth the wait.The range is limited you’re not going far with this thing. it’s meant for racing I believe.It looks cool but the set up took a long time and I had to watch several YouTube lessons just to take off.I returned my purchase after talking to Dji customer support I wanted to be sure that I wasn’t missing anything from my end.I wound ... MoreThis was my very first drone. 40 Hours +

I got the DJI FPV a year ago, and I have just over 40 hours of fly time and 1000 kilometers flying with the drone. As it has held up extremely well over the year, I am super stoked to give it a 5-star review. The rush when spinning up the motors and launching off the ground is still super exhilarating. With amazing pictures and videos, I do not regret buying this wonder. The only thing I would recommend is practicing flying FPV in a simulator like "Liftoff" (On "Steam" game launcher) before flicking the drone into "Manual mode" as it is very easy to lose control over the drone if not somewhat experienced.Talking about the specs on the drone after a year, I couldn't tell the difference from when I first bought it. Although that slight downside, the speed, and acceleration have been affected little to nothing whatsoever. I easily get up to 140 kmh (87mph) with no wind, and my top speed with tailwind has maxed out around 176 kmh (109mph).The last thing I want to add is that I strongly recommend getting the 2 extra batteries if you are planning to take the drone on longer trips.There are a lot more specifics I could have written down, but if you are seriously considering getting this drone, then it is easy to find very well-made videos on social media platforms like Youtube that go into a lot more depth than I did here as these are more of my personal experiences with the drone.IG: oskar_t_ross

A kind of high-powered mutant

First off, this thing is a little dangerous. Not a toy. Fail to respect the banshee wail of those spinning plastic knives and you could easily hurt someone.Second off, it's kind of incredible. It does what people imagine personal drones can do, in a fairly accessible and out-of-the-box package. Ample power for high-speed excursions and high-altitude exploration. The only limits are line-of-sight, about 1.5k feet and battery life.DJI V2 goggles leave some things to be desired (diopter pls) but they do a decent job of collecting and displaying flight info, as well as staying put on your head. Light leakage is sometimes annoying but far, far better than an open screen in the daylight. It can work like a regular drone, or you can flip it into manual mode and it turns into a racer. I will say it is difficult to learn how to fly it in manual mode, one wrong move and it’s on the ground. You can put it in simulation mode and use the goggles to practice which I highly recommend. It’s super fun and very fast even in sport mode, i’ve gotten it to about 62 miles an hour in that mode.  you can put it in normal mode and that will make it behave like a normal camera drone with all of the benefits like anti-collision detection. it also has a very nice feature that they call return to home, if you go too far out and you lose video transmission it will stop and start flying back to you. DJI FPV COMBO

The is is an excellent drone setup. Clear as day goggles and camera. Easy to fly in S and N modes for anyone with any experience flying drones. For manual mode flying though, I suggest you log some hours on the DJI simulator that the kit comes with through an app download - its super fun! I love flying this drone - its fast and responsive. It seems pretty fragile though and I would hate to crash it I love the option of the pause button - this is a life saver. Also, the ability to switch out of M mode back to the safety of N or S modes is convenient. Great for cruising and exploring. The FPV combo is a lot more fun than flying a Mavic ! The cinewoop style FPV drones seem a lot safer than this spaced out looking drone- but its still super cool and I would buy it again for sure just for the experience. I wish I would have bought the extra batteries though . I bought a protective case for it on Amazon that I like- pictured below. Fits everything any more shown in the photo. One con to the drone is that you can put the props on incorrectly- so you have to pay attention to what youre doing! The drone wont take offthough - so thats a plus. I think anyone would have fun with this package, but realize that you could cause lots of damage to people or property with a crash at high speed.

Good product, sub-par Best Buy policy

The goggles, remote and FPV work well and image quality is great. Drone is easy to fly and very stable. Unfortunately, I had an issue with my FPV after one flight (a few days after purchase) and it would no longer pair with the goggles. DJI tech support was great, but couldn’t resolve the issue. Not a big deal that i got a defective unit, it’s understandable that once in a while there can be issues from the start. I went back to Best Buy to exchange the FPV for a new one, and got charged a 15% restocking fee. Given that this isn’t a cheap piece of gear, I wasn’t impressed that I had to pay an extra 15% just to get a product that works like it’s supposed to out of the box. It’s decent for getting into FPV

I was very happy with that out come. The drone itself flys great but the battery only gets about 8min of flight time on a full battery going 40-60 mph. Hovering it will get about 12-15 but who wants a fpv to just hover. The view from the goggles is kind dull but it takes great pictures and videos if viewed on your phone. No DJI, no Best Buy

Yet another terrible experience with Best Buy, and thankfully this will be the last one.TL;DR: Cannot customize controls with DJI, and Best Buy charges restocking fee even though DJI does not. Buy direct from DJI.I thought I did enough research going into this purchase, but it seems as though I made some rather basic assumptions that turned out to be false. If you are trained to fly in a different way than the standard for US or standard for EU, then you are essentially out of luck. What is absolutely a simple inclusion, for whatever reason has been left out by DJI. Best Buy is great if you need something immediately and Amazon same-day is not available. But, God forbid something goes wrong or you need to rely on professional services to install. You are going to run into a nightmare.Also, waited in line for 25 minutes, watching countless employees strolling by, while there were just 2 customer service desk employees tending to about 20 people in line. If I was running that store I would be livid, and also behind the counter until that line was clear.There are better places to spend your money.
