I got this drone for Christmas after a lot of research about quality, reliability and brand name. Battery life was important to me. Whether you're just filming yourself, or just flying around, or getting into amateur videography/aerial photography. It's really quite good. Run time seems to be about 20 minutes, which isn't terrible. I'd recommend getting 2 extra batteries. Oh, and the included DJI bag only holds the drone, the controller, and maybe the spare blades. That's it. Very much recommend getting a real bag or case that holds everything (like extra batteries and the charger). Also, while it does come with a spare set of blades, I recommend you buy another set, just in case. Overall, I give this package a 9 out of 10. Bought as an upgrade from my DJI Spark this drone is feature packed and although it has a steep price of over $1000 it is completely worth it. I would say even more value than the Air 3. The fly more kit with the additional batteries makes up for the extra cost easily.To new drone pilots and experienced ones alike this is a great drone. Use it for strictly recreational purposes and family vacations. Love the auto fly options including rocket and spiral. Just wish there were less restrictions of where you can fly this thing (think: Machu Picchu off limits; Grand Canyon off limits; etc). Other than that, it’s a breeze to fly especially with the obstacle detection feature built in. Since this purchase there have been upgraded models; get the latest and greatest if you can. If not, most likely this will more than meet the needs of the average hobbyist

Flights landing in Philly International fly over my house all day long so my app reminds me to fly with caution. The preset altitude is 400ft I believe. I never fly above that. I don't go into settings and mess with too much. Lots of features in there that I guess I will get accustomed to eventually. For now I just enjoy flying it for fun. I know that if you a photographer type, there is tons you can do, lots of settings to adjust to get great footage.As I said, I'm a beginner, first drone for me. I think it's important to point out that you don't have to constantly "fly" this drone. You simply hit a button to take off. The drone will then hover at around 3 feet and remain there until you control it to do something else. If you take off near obstacles, such as trees or your car or house, it's gonna beep constantly, which is simply warning you that stationary objects are close. Go straight up in the air (considering the path is clear) and the beeping will stop. Once you are flying, let's say you are a 1/4 mile from your takeoff point at 200ft in the air, you can just hold the remote in your hand and the drone will just hover there until you tell it otherwise. My previous experience with drones was constantly steering or counter steering just to keep it in flight. Not this drone. You can send it a mile away, 300 feet in the air and set the controller down and eventually the battery will get low enough and the drone knows to start it's path home, it even notifies you on the screen. In this case, you would need to hit a button to cancel the "return to home" feature if you didn't want it to return. It's also important to know that when you take off, your screen will tell you "home point has been updated". That's the place the drone will return to if "return to home" is activated. It won't follow you if you end up a mile away with the remote for whatever reason. Home point is simply the GPS coordinates for where the drone took off.The Fly More combo comes with 3 batteries. You get about 30 minutes from each one. That time would definitely be impacted by wind and pressure in the air etc.. you can also fly in " sport" mode.. important to know that you lose "obstacle avoidance" while flying in this mode. It's much faster in sport mode, I've gotten 45mph buy it's much easier to crash that way. And it will drain the battery much faster.It's amazing how stable this drone is. Fly it up somewhere, let it hover and just control the position of the camera and look around, it's crystal clear. You would think it would be wobbly and inconsistent but it's not. 100% stable and clear footage..you can switch between video or picture mode with a touch of a button on the remote. So much good to say about this drone. They really put a lot of effort into making this drone user friendly.I had one situation where my video was cutting out and after some Googling, I'm thinking it was from power line interference. That's kinda scary when you are a half mile away and suddenly your screen goes blank. But I'm pretty sure that was user error
WAIT A SECOND - Before you get all excited about this drone THERE IS A MAJOR ISSUE: THE BATTERY... This company has made a great product full of features and cool software, but they have FAILED TO TELL YOU that the battery life that they tout as being 30 minutes is AT THE MOST 15 minutes. To make matters worse, their software does not recognize this and hasn't been written with a MANDATORY RETURN TO HOME command that sends the drone back before it FORCES IT TO LAND - like it happened to me when I was flying over the Rio Grand gorge canyon bridge and the drone was forced to land on a vertical 600 foot rock wall that is not accessible to the public and I lost the drone. Amazing drone! This is my first one, and it develops awesome 4k footage for my video production work. It's high quality enough to produce great footage but affordable and small enough to not be something overwhelming or hard to use. Love that my phone is used as the monitor on the remote control. It also has a feature to charge your phone while it's plugged in - LOVE that. The battery does not last super long, which is unfortunate. I delayed it for a while but finally bought a second battery (they're $112, so I procrastinated..) Wish it wasn't so pricey, but in the video world, we gotta have extra batteries.. Having 2 batteries has been enough for what I need thus far.

I had never thought that the explosive growth of popularity with quadcopters (I know, everyone likes calling them "drones" but this is specifically what a UAS with 4 propellers arranged in a square is officially referred to) over the last decade has ignited the interest of model aviation as a whole, and I'm really happy about that.Except... I have never actually owned a quadcopter to fly recreationally before, until now, and I'm really excited to share my thorough thoughts about DJI's latest in their Mavic family of aircraft - the Mavic Air 2.The unboxing experience is simply bliss, and felt alot like unboxing a new Apple product. I was given the "Fly More Combo" for my review - DJI includes all sorts of extras, both the important stuff (batteries) and the much appreciated stuff (ND filters! Extra controller sticks! So many propeller sets!) to where it makes it a true no-brainer to go for the combo rather than the base offering for $799. With all 3 fully charged batteries, you'll be able to get more than an hour and a half of flying time using moderate settings configurations (1080p at 30fps), and less flying time if you're looking to film 4K at 60fps or those uber-cool 8K hyperlapse shots. There is a bit of initial setup involved with your quadcopter, which will mainly take about 1 hour or so to do... installing the first set of propellers, unwrapping all of the goodies, plugging all of the batteries and remote controller to charge, installing the DJI Fly app, etc... but it will all be worth it once you are out on an open field and ready to fly your Mavic Air 2.I am very impressed with the learning curve in flying the Mavic Air 2. DJI really has put a lot of thought and detail into training new flyers on how to control their quadcopter and ensure that both recreational and commercial flyers are following all safety rules and regulations. Now, I myself am well aware that UAS require registration with the FAA before flying, but DJI doesn't necessarily give that reminder to flyers, nor do they assist them with guiding them to the actual FAA government site to do the $5 registration process. This is a bit concerning, because a quick search for drone registration online shows a variety of 3rd-party providers charging more than $5 for the same process. It's also more concerning that you're not paying money directly to the FAA, which I'd much rather prefer. DJI also doesn't remind you that your registration number MUST be affixed anywhere outside of your Mavic Air 2 prior to doing any sort of flying - even in uncontrolled airspace (formally, Class G airspace).The DJI Fly app offers all sorts of options for modifying video/picture quality, automated focus assistance so the Mavic Air 2 can follow or rotate around you, verifying it's location on a map and avoiding entering restricted or unauthorized airspace, and I also really like how accurate AirSense is at warning you of nearby manned aircraft. You can fly up to 400 feet (120 meters) from the ground. On your remote controller, you have 3 control options you can quickly toggle: Tripod, Normal, and Sport or as I call them: Slow, Normal, Fast. The first mode drastically lowers the movement speed of the Mavic Air 2 and is recommended for us when taking photography or slow-moving video. Normal is exactly what it sounds like, and Sport mode, which happens to be my favorite of course, lets you move the Mavic Air 2 much quicker in the air, and also disables it's obstacle avoidance sensors so you can really experience a good thrill... just be sure you know where your Mavic Air 2 is at all times in the sky and remember, safety first!In conclusion, I'm seriously well-pleased with how easy and simple it was to set up, charge, and use the Mavic Air 2. I'm also impressed with all of the technologies being actively worked on to make the quadcopter... ok fine, the drone flying experience much more fun for both recreational and commercial flyers from all corners of the globe. It's also very exciting to see interest of model aviation in general becoming more appealing to the masses, especially for future generations who can find a love for the hobby and dig deeper as to what is possible when it comes to flight, and just how much fun and rewarding it can be out on the field.
Absolutely fabulous. I upgraded from my old DJI Spark - very well worth it after 3 years.The range, transmission image stability, and active track features are amazing.The drone is a welcome step up for the budding enthusiast - may be a bit more than an amateur can handle but it's doable with time and patience to learn.It's very durable as well - the exceptional size will ensure your rotors will last a long time - the fly more combo provides extras as well.Only 'bad' thing is the battery charger will only charge one battery at a time instead of all three simultaneously but it's not a big deal. Honestly the 30 minute flight time is more than enough to get the fun done.I can't say enough about the camera - the snapshots are clear and the 4k video is stunning. ... MoreAbsolutely fabulous. But the mini 3 takes care of that.Don't forget to get your license!
I purchased this drone figuring it would have all the features of my Mavic Air and then some...mistake on my part. The Mavic Air 2 does not support "onboard missions" meaning that when you fly it autonomously using Litchi Waypoints, the mission instructions remain on the controller, not on the drone. And so Litchi has to use "virtual joysticks" to control the drone from the controller. 3 problems. 1. if the drone loses signal it ends the mission. 2. there is a delay using virtual joysticks. 3. the drone does small jerky movements anytime it has lateral/yaw movement so the video footage is unusable. Litchi waypoints is my go-to flying mode so this drone is now unusable to me.
