I wish you could pick which way it starts up, or have it start in the same way you turned it off. Also it takes THREE pushes of the button to flip it around, so it's a lot of clicking and messing around to turn it on and get it to work as a normal camera.2. The screen is SO small. Smaller than a postage stamp. I would prefer for the whole thing to be bigger so we could see the screen better. (Using it with a phone as they suggest is ridiculous...it's far too fragile and flimsy that way).3. No interchangeable batteries, so when it's dead, you are done.

It can be defeated, but it takes a bunch of time and effort. Really, DJI: don't do that; overcome your voyeuristic desires and make "registration" optional. That brutish insistence of registration cost the review two stars, and a "don't recommend" designation. Great little camera overall!
27 December 2021

Overall this is a great little camera for everyday use. The the gimbal works great to stabilize video when walking, panning, etc. Video quality is good (4K) and comparable to my iPhone 11 Pro, but (as expected) isn't quite as sharp or as good in low light as a mirrorless camera with a much larger sensor. For everyday travel videos like I'll be using it for, it's great. Still image quality is good, but quality suffers when zooming in and the image gets pixelated and soft, which was quite disappointing but non-zoomed photos look quite nice IMO. I've only used the standard 16MP mode, not the 64MP mode, so I'll have to try that out and compare. Ease of use is great and it's easy to slip in a pocket or bag to take with you on the go. The added accessories and value of the Creator Combo make this a no-brainer over the camera alone. If you're looking for a super portable camera with the ability to take good stills and video... and are willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for a massive portability advantage, then this little camera may be what you're looking for. IMO, the strengths of this camera, especially with the creator combo pack, make up for its shortcomings and I'd happily buy it again.

Great little piece of kit!
16 September 2022

Low light capabilities on this are much better than other action cameras I've trialed. Also the ability to remotely pan and zoom are my favourite feature.I've been using this to record long DJ sets in nightclubs then uploading them with the recorded audio onto youtube etc, these vids are kept interesting without having to edit 2 or 3 different video sources together .. becuase i can pan and zoom and move the camera remotely, its brilliant! Also it doesnt overheat (which all the other action cams I've used to after an hour). The remote microphone is super handy too for when I do DJ instructional Videos for my DJ school. At first I thought this was overpriced, but due to it replacing multiple different cameras, for me at least, it's worth it's weight in gold!

Great quality for kpop concert
7 May 2023

I purchased this camera purely to film the twice concert in Melbourne and was so pleased with the results. This is the first camera I’ve purchased and I don’t really have much experience in photography. I used it once before the concert at an event and had some trouble with the video quality but after adjusting some settings and learning how to use it’s features properly the footage came out amazing from the concert. The zoom is quite good, just wish it was optical and not digital zoom. Battery life was fine, I just gave it a boost with a power bank which was handy as you can charge and film. I opted to go with the normal package (not creator combo) and I think it’s the best value for money. You’re still getting 95% of the experience! Neat toy, not a practical camera

Some background: I got this to help record my son's basketball games and was tired of filling up my phone storage. The Pocket 2 seemed just what I needed. This experiment lasted two days before I got fed up with it.Let's get the positives out of the way which, unfortunately won't take long. The size of this camera is unobtrusive and the image stabilization on the Pocket 2 is fantastic and, frankly, amazing. The gimbal keeps the camera level regardless of your hand position and it's just fascinating to watch. It's remarkable engineering and it keeps the recorded image very smooth. Unfortunately, that's the end of the positives because, from a user and practicality standpoint, the Pocket 2 is just frustrating to try to use.First, let's start with the instructions. The Pocket 2 isn't particularly complicated but it's not intuitive either. Fortunately, there are several videos available in the accompanying DJI Mimo app that explain how to use the camera. Unfortunately, there's a lot of these videos that you have to go through and the audio is also entirely in Chinese. There are helpful subtitles on the screen but, if you're trying to follow along by looking at the camera, this requires you to keep looking back and forth from the device to the video. There are also videos about the device app controls which, again, if you're following along requires you to exit the video to access the camera so you can see what you're supposed to be looking at. This is really tedious. As for the camera controls, the Pocket 2 comes with slide-in manual zoom and camera controls along with interface ports for USB-C or iOS devices. Unfortunately, there's only one slot for these so you can't control the camera using the manual controls and have it plugged into a device at the same time (we'll come back to that in a minute). Incidentally, the carrying case has slots built into it that are supposed to be able to store these slide-in pieces when not in use but they don't really fit, at least not securely. These pieces are absolutely necessary and also extremely easy to lose so you'll need some sort of additional storage baggie to keep them safe and/or handy. However, manual control is kind of a moot point as the viewscreen on the device is literally the size of an adult thumbnail. This is also a touch screen so just trying to change settings on the device is an exercise in squinting at a tiny screen and trying to touch it with the smallest possible part of your finger. All of this means that you pretty much have to connect the Pocket 2 to your phone or tablet to make it usable. But, this is also a problem as the USB-C/iOS ports are too small to use with a device that has a case on it, meaning that you must take the case off of your device to make it connect to the camera.Once plugged in, the image stabilization is obvious and you have a lot of control (through the controls on your device) over the image. However, as good as the gimbal is on this camera, the zoom is just atrocious. It's not smooth at all. The zoom essentially strobes or steps in and out which is completely the opposite of every other aspect of the camera's operation and, for me, completely ruined the smooth nature of the shot.Honestly, I might have been able to live with all that if not for the kicker which is that the full battery life -- at least, in my experience -- was under 90 minutes! That was not continuous use either. It went from 100% power -- 0% power with less than 15 minutes of video to show for it.All in all, this is a product seemingly entirely constructed by engineers with zero input from actual users. The idea of spending $300-$400 for an action camera that requires me to carry essential pieces of it in a separate bag and requires me to remove the protective case on my device so I can use it and requires me to carry separate power for it, all while making it more difficult for me to learn its full use and not being completely happy with the eventual image anyway makes for a very dissatisfied user. The gimbal is a neat piece of hardware but this isn't a usable camera, it's a toy.

Then I'd advise looking over this device's bells and whistles to be sure before making a decision. It's easy and fun to use. And has a few features up its sleeve to make you want to grab for this over your phone's camera.

Pros: - Photo and video quality is great, even the sound is good despite not having the microphone attachment. - Stability is amazing and top-notch. No complaints there.- It's good for short bursts of recording; but not ideal for whole day recording due to battery life.Cons: - Battery can only do so much; but that's what you get for such a compact and pocket-sized good quality camera, so really it's still a win. - It takes a while to get used to the functions and shortcuts and camera setup. You'll eventually be able to figure it out yourself as it's very user-friendly. However, if you want to learn some tips and tricks faster, best go online and check out the tutorials by dji or youtube.

Small but mighty! Mind blowing video quality!

I originally bought just the DJI pocket 2 without the creator combo version but then decided to go with the creator combo which includes the do-it-all handle and the wireless microphone. The wireless microphone was needed if you want to do vlogging and YouTube your videos. You would want your voice to be crisp and clear. The do-it-all handle is needed for the wireless microphone since it needs the bluetooth connection that comes with the do-it-all handle. The do-it-all handle also has Wi-Fi connection in it that will be handy when you connect your phone to the DJI pocket 2 wirelessly to monitor and control your pocket 2 with a larger screen. With all those things mentioned going with the creator combo is cheaper and a better choice.I also bought an external ... MoreI originally bought just the DJI pocket 2 without the creator combo version but then decided to go with the creator combo which includes the do-it-all handle and the wireless microphone. With all those things mentioned going with the creator combo is cheaper and a better choice.I also bought an external wireless microphone, the Hollyland Lark M1 dual microphones, to go with this setup because I wanted to record voices of two people narrating at the same time. The do-it-all handle has a 3.5mm jack for the microphone so it works perfectly. Note that if you buy an external wireless microphone kit that has a USB type-c connecting directly to the USB type-c input jack of the pocket 2 will not work because it needs power to drive the receiver. The Hollyland wireless microphone model that I bought works with the pocket 2. It's a little bit more wires and set up but it works. The cons about the pocket 2 is that you can't use tracking when you video 4k/60fps. That's a bummer. You can however use tracking for 4k/30fps. The other negative thing about the pocket 2 is that the battery runs out too fast. It says max 2 hours but with microphone on and screen on all the time it sucks the juice quick. You have to have a power bank ready at all times. I bought a power bank that doubles as a handle that I screw on to the bottom of the pocket 2 to take care of the power issue. Night shots were ok but could be better with a larger sensor.Overall I would recommend using the pocket 2 over using your smartphone to do videos so you can free up your smartphone to do other things. Plus the pocket 2 is more compact and discreet if you plan to use it in foreign countries. Another advantage is the stabilization of the gimbal on the pocket 2 is much better than your phone. The results are much more professional looking with no shake, less headache watching your videos. I think it's worth buying it. The video quality is mind blowing for a gadget that can literally fit in your pocket!
