Tiny little gimbal with amazing max payload for its size. Very easy to balance and easy to use. Very beginner friendly with a lot of advanced features. But I feel like not making it compatible with Peak Design quick release plates was a HUGE oversight on DJI's part, and that's why I removed a star. I'm sure just like myself, many others have these PD plates attached to their cameras at all times, and I think DJI feeling the need to sell their own proprietary plate instead of making the quick release true 100% Arca compatible is going to frustrate some people into not purchasing.

So far it performs really well with fx30 Sony 10-20f4 and Sigma 1850 f2.8, I did tested with 70-200f4 but that's not why you would get mini (it be rs3 pro instead🤣) nevertheless really happy DJI made a compact travel friendly gimbal since I don't really rig my camera like those instagram post.It handles -20 so far during follow cam at Whistler Blackcomb, the setup and balance was easy but too bad don't have auto lock like rs3/pro,but built in vertical Mount is great to especially making reel or til Tok video !One thing I recommend is getting handgrip from smallrig especially under slug mode so your arm won't burn. (Trust me you will know when you try to shoot low angle more then few minutes unless you are buff!)

I've owned almost every model of Ronin, from the original M, MX, S, RSC 2, and now the RS 3 Mini. With each model there are great improvements and this one is no exception. The payload capacity is pretty small but is still capable of handling a Nikon Z6 and 14-30mm lens. Vertical videos are now even easier to shoot due to the ability to reconfigure the gimbal. The only issue I've noticed is the touchscreen display is obstructed by the arm making it hard to use, but with a smaller camera and lens combination this may not be the case. Overall, the affordability and light weight makes this the perfect travel, starter, or everyday gimbal for lighter setups.

I own the DJI RS3 but that gimbal is a bit big and heavy for certain applications. I was hesitant to buy the RS 3 Mini but I'm glad I did.First of all, it is light and small. I can place it in a small camera backpack along with a camera and a couple of lenses and it does not wear me down after a day of walking.Secondly, the 4.4 pound payload is legit. I have a LUMIX G9 with a Meike 35mm lens, cage, top handle and small accessories attached which all weigh about 3.5 pounds and it does not even strain the motors. Finally, I can use this gimbal for long periods of time without my arms feeling like they got a workout. But I already said, it is light. If you are looking for a second gimbal for travel or are looking for a first gimbal, this is for you!
GREAT product. dont look at any other brands DJI does it best... only issue i have is with BestBuy. i bought this Open Box due to it being completely out of stock when i purchased. only 1 open box unit was available. they claimed it was like new, excellent condition. it was only $15 cheaper so i would have just preferred to spend the few extra dollars and buy new but i went with it. the gimbal was definitely good condition. obviously had been used once or twice but no complaints there. BUT a bolt was missing for the camera mount attachment. BestBuy needs to do a better job making sure ALL parts are in box, especially when Open Box prices are almost new prices.
Probably the best small gimbal out there. This does not have the auto-lock feature that the RS 3 and RS 3 Pro have, but this does manually lock on all axes. Not a deal breaker. This does have the ability to hold a full-frame mirrorless camera and nice sized lens. The bluetooth remote control as opposed to using a cable is a game-changer- It is a quality of life improvement! Not heavy at all and you can add a handle with the naito mount. Powerful enough not to stutter but yet still portable enough to take with you everywhere.
I come from the slightly older Ronin RS3 before I picked up this more compact gimbal for travel use. It's hard to believe that the 1 lb difference makes such a big difference. There are some things that I have observed vs the RS3 and one big caveat is that you cannot fold it "flat" for storage. you will have to rebalance it if you do. Also, the 2kg payload is a little misleading as my Canon R with the 2nd gen 24-70mm L lens resulted in one of the arms having to be moved to it's end range to balance. Finally, if you move too quickly, you can tell that the motors on the gimbal become more strained as it uses more power to keep the step in balance. My RS3 doesn't have such issues but is also bigger, heavier and more cumbersome to use while traveling. If you have a APS-C camera, compact point and shoot our even a cellphone, then this is perfect.Oh yeah, it also shoots vertical videos too if you're into that sort of thing. The RSC requires an adaptor plate that is purchased separately.
My first gimbal so nothing to compare it with. I've been a handheld purist for far too long. It works as advertised. Same shots, less takes.I run an S5 & 24-105 on it (just under 2kg rating) and it works no problem. The motors stay in the green unless I'm doing something crazy. When using longer focal lengths I rebalance and recalibrate, and smoother handling is required to keep the motors in the green. Can easily go into the yellow caution range if not careful when shooting like this.Seems tough and well built.I'm enjoying this so much, I'm definitely getting it's biggest brother next.
I could never get it to balance with my smartphone and lens/cage accessories. Took it to the store and they couldn’t get it to balance either. Unless I were to purchase a DSLR or Mirrorless camera in was stuck . DJI doesn’t allow returns which I did not know until after going to the store so I sold it on Ebay and purchased a Moza Aircross S gimbal which is working perfectly and has the same payload and functions and is geared for “Go/pro, smartphones and DSLR and Mirrorless cameras and is a great travel gimbal. The DJI is well made and the staff at Pictureline are great but this was unfortunate for me and I understand they were hogtied from DJI. Check out the return policy before buying any piece of equipment before buying and save yourself a bit of hassle.
I just received this gimbal and am setting it up for use with my SONY FX30. I know that that camera is not currently on DJI's list of compatible devices for this gimbal, but I wanted to share that as of May 2023 the camera and gimbal will pair over Bluetooth, enabling the gimbal to control the camera. This was one of my questions going into purchasing the gimbal, so hopefully this can help someone else. DJI seems to be pretty slow to update their list of compatible devices and there are currently several SONY cameras (ZV-1, FX30, ZV-E1) on the market that seem like they should work with this gimbal. At least I can confirm that one does.
