The long-awaited 2011 vintage of Domaine A's flagship wine, which is very much a result of a cooler year, nonetheless exhibits the entire spectrum of cabernet character unique to the vineyard. Under the spiced top notes of vanilla and mild star anise, there is an earthy, rich combination of potpourri, roasted beetroot, and dark fruits (plum, blackberries, and cassis). Prior to a lengthy, developing finish, careful scrutiny is rewarded by cured flesh and a hint of char. Future benefits of putting a few in the cellar will be substantial.
