Dometic CFX3 55 Portable Fridge/Freezer 55L
Dometics mission is to make mobile living easy, and theyve certainly hit the nail on the head with the Dometic CFX3 55 Compressor Fridge Freezer. This is the ultimate fridge/freezer, capable of being powered by AC, DC or solar, and robust enough to store all your food and drink on your next camping trip. The Dometic CFX3 55 uses a powerful compressor which allows you to refrigerate or deep-freeze down to -22C. The unit features improved low-voltage technology, meaning it draws less power than a 60W lightbulb. This technology also features a visual interface and a fully integrated app to give you visibility and control over the power usage of your fridge/freezer. The app makes it easy to monitor the temperature remotely, track the temperature history and energy consumption from the front seat of your vehicle or in bed after a long day of touring. This Dometic Fridge Freezer is built tough to withstand the harsh punishment that comes with touring the Aussie outdoors. The rugged ExoFrame exterior keeps everything safe, with a lightweight thermoformed plastic shell that gives it tough structural insulation. The aluminium alloy spring-loaded handles make it easy to transport through harsh environments, and the weatherproof high-res colour display gives you all the info you need, rain or shine. Whether youre heading off-road, on-road, outback or even into the backyard, the Dometic CFX3 55 has you covered for any adventure. The CFX3 gives you plenty of space for food and drinks, with a removable wire divider for easy organisation. It eliminates the dairy compartment, so theres more room for all your favourite foods.

We are very happy with the Dometic CFX3 55 Compressor Fridge Freezer - it rapidly reaches the target temperature set and maintains that temperature. The phone App is a great addition and a handy tool to keep an eye on the status of the fridge. A quality built product.

So far so good. Fridge is very efficient & cools down quickly & does a good job at maintaining the temperature. For the first few days of use I was putting my ear against the motor compartment to check if it was running it is that quiet. You can't even hear the fridge motor start up its that quiet. Internal light, lights up the inside well too. Overall, great product so far.

I was tossing up between this and the new Engel 60L. Went with this instead mainly because of weight and space savings. I have to say, this fridge is so quiet and very efficient. Dometic clearly did their homework with this new compressor. Excellent. I thought the wifi and Bluetooth thing was a gimmick, but I have to say, it's very good. I can see fridge current draw over time and work out how to save power when needed to. Very impressed. Good purchase.

An absolute rippper of a purchase. Went on a 10 night treck away and didnt miss a beat. Also pretty quiet. We have a 100ah nomad DPU to power it. Only downside would be the low voltage cut out appears to be at the middle range default and not the low level voltage as quoted in manual. Even ensuring it is set on low
Some have noted it's "quieter than expected" - not sure what they were expecting but it's definitely not something I'd want to sleep near. I move it to the car boot when camping at night (I don't expect there is a single compressor fridge that I wouldn't do this to, though). It's a much nicer design, and pretty slim when compared to competitors of equal capacity. The controls and wifi/BT are a nice (but not really needed) extra. The phone app lets you see the history of the temp or change it remotely (which we all totally need).
Purchased just before Xmas 2022 to use initially as a drinks fridge on Xmas Day using 240V. Has worked faultlessly since, the fridge gets cold quickly and keeps drinks to temperature. The fridge easily handles tall wine bottles (eg riesling or bubbly) and has great capacity. The external temp gauge and settings make life easy. I'll eventually test it on 12V in the SUV for day trips and camping. But so far so good.
Was originally going for the 60L Engel, but it has the power cord coming out the front so would not fit this CFX3-55 was the biggest we could get in our camper fridge draw. Was pleasently suprised by the Dometic though, nicely built and gets everything down to temp well. Not too hungry on power and the digital display and USB charge point was handy on our recent 5 day trip. Great upgrade in space from our previous smaller fridge. I tried out the phone app and works well, but not finding I need to use that though. BCF price matched the fridge with other which dropped price $100, but did buy the protective cover from the competition though as had mutch better price than BCF.
I was looking for a mid size fridge / freezer and this unit seemed to fit the bill. It is easy to operate via Bluetooth from the iPhone. The unit is ideal for travel and a back up at home. Does require two people to carry when it is full.
Haven't had a chance to take it away yet, but it's been running since it arrived four weeks ago. I've used it with both 240v and 12v without a problem, except when using it with 12v from a 70a/h battery pack. The battery pack has had an error and cut-out several times, whether that was the fault of the fridge or the battery, who knows. Either way, I was onto it quickly, the battery re-set ok, and I'll keep an eye on that when I take it away - nobody wants a warm fridge! Other than that, it keeps everything nice and cold, and it's nice and quiet.I'm definitely happy with it.
Sold a 75L dual zone to go for something smaller and tossed up between this and the Engel. Decided on this due to size for lower price. Had the fridge for a month now and very happy. Ran for a week to test it at home as the drinks fridge and then Easter on 12v. Quick to cool, power draw is as advertised, weight is single person manageable, and and the bluetooth app is actually pretty handy.
