I played this before on the ps4 and currently playing on steam deck. It plays excellent on steam deck. On the default settings it holds 60fps for the majority of the time but I had to switch from open gl to Vulcan. Its hard to find fault with the gameplay itself though. Its a fast paced shooter that rewards aggressive gameplay but you can definitely play at your own pace and explore the maps to find every secret. Long story less long, just buy the game.

Great game, but not perfect. The gameplay is smooth and visceral, which is the most important part. The glory kills weren't cool when Duke Nukem Forever did it. The story sucks, but you can at least ignore it. Some of the mazes also trap enemies. Because you can't finish a mission until you dispatch them all, you occasionally wind up looking for them like a mother cat searching for a lost kitten. Bosses are lame, but that's true of 99% of all bosses.

Doom (2016) is one of the most visionary interpretations of the lore and genre since the game's original release. The aesthetic of the level design, the concept of the hero's origins, motivation, and demeanour, and the whole experience of the war on hell from within the human technocorporate power structure was peak DOOM from start to finish, setting a stage that later entries in the franchise launched from, yet fell short of impressing in many ways. Eternal may have a more amped out parkour combat experience, but DOOM is DOOM, and it delivers.
I feel like everyone knows about Doom by now. If not this one, then definitely the originals. As for me, I was never that great at the original Doom games, and I'm not great at this one either. But that doesn't mean I didn't have fun with it! I think that it really captures the feel and spirit of the original games, while drastically modernizing them. It's fast and fluid, with a great soundtrack. You already know what you're getting into with a Doom game. If you think you would like it, you most likely will. If the genre or aesthetic put you off, it may not be the game for you. But regardless, it's a well-crafted game for sure!
This one is quite old but still a fantastic game. you need a hard drive to play original xbox game titles. Okay, so, it is freakin' amazing. The guns are intuitive, realistic, and fun to use. The monsters are amazing: they are varied and cool. The campaign is very fun, at least 8 hours long, and is not too repetative and when it is, it's the right amount of repetativeness. I have played it before, and loved it. Now I bought this and it truely is worth every penny. If you like shooters, great story lines, cool monsters, sweet guns, and the right amount of challenge, then this game is fit for you.
I was a tween/teen when the first DOOM came out, and played every DOOM since. The amazing thing about this version is that it (surprisingly) does manage to both pay homage to the original while also updating the game play to be a modern shooter. There is a single player campaign, with a fairly weak and uninspiring story (much like other DOOMs), but there is a story. The game play has the classic fast and simple appeal of the original - never stand still, run over things to pick them up, blue health/green armour/multiple types of power up and ammo. There's still 'secrets' to be found too.Glory kills, combat challenges, weapon upgrades etc. All add something new. The graphics are great and the setting on mars works well with the Zombie theme.I would say I found it ... MoreI was a tween/teen when the first DOOM came out, and played every DOOM since. It's a modern update of the original, done well. If you liked the original DOOM then you should like this, if not, it's probably not for you. If you never played original DOOM - well you might be missing the nostalgia factor, but it should still be fun given the fast paced action makes it fairly different from a lot of today's FPSs which are mostly cover based.
You clearly remember that chilly December, though it was back in 1993... Life was pure joy back then and you had nothing to take care of but your 40 MHz PC. One day, a friend of yours brought some floppy discs and told you to try this mind-blowing game he just copied from a classmate. When you first explored it, a tingle ran through your spine and after that you couldn't stop playing for months. DOOM came and set FPS standards with its gameplay and graphics you could never imagine to be possible. A generation grew up since then, you have evolved from nerd status to a regular "family guy", but casual gaming remained there. You have little time to play, most likely during the night when your wife and kids are asleep. You have little time to play, most likely during the night when your wife and kids are asleep. You play a few hours before you go to sleep to survive tomorrow's working hours. But this..... This is over. Playing DOOM demo before buying this game convinced me in seconds that this IS a must-have. Playing FPS on console seemed a bit rough before, but this game has so sophisticated controls that sometimes even you will be surprised how good you are at it. This game grips you in the very first moment after you took the first steps and complete the intro level. Then, when you hear the first riffs of the music as you grab your shotgun and step through the door... then you will transported back to 1993 again. Waited 24 years for this to happen again, and DOOM did it. Put your kids and wife to sleep, lock 'n load your shotgun and let's blow those demonic brains out for good! You deserve it! :)
it was in a bubble wrapped envelope when i got it. i opened it and you could see a crease must have been shipped with fed ex... opened it yep. cd looks like a taco shell. dont think it will play like that. returning and hoping for better packing and different package carrier... never use fed ex they really dont care about your packages.
