The effects of the shampoo are easy to notice. Over the course of a week it’s made my hair much lighter and softer, and reduced the amount of dandruff I have to deal with to almost zero. My scalp feels much healthier and less dry after just a few days. The smell of the shampoo is nothing to write home about, but it’s also not a bad thing. It’s simply inoffensive. It smells very similar to so many other Dove Men products, just a slightly masculine scent along with a more standard clean smell. It fades quickly once you’re out of the shower, and I never noticed it by the time I left the house.

And that’s not⁣ something I can condone – sorry, Dove.⁣ ⁣ This Dove Shampoo is doing a great job for my hair looks so far and I appreciate it being 2 in 1 – dandruff defense shampoos are more drying to the hair fiber, so adding the Conditioner function to this product really balances it out. The fragrance gives me “clean refreshing blue-mint vibes".⁣ ⁣ This product is FDA approved but please, note that some ingredients used in this formula have been restricted/banned in other countries. ALWAYS PATCH TEST!⁣ ⁣ BRUTALLY HONEST FORMULA BREAKDOWN⁣ ( from most abundant to least abundant )⁣ • WATER ( AQUA ): Cosmetic Base. ⁣ • SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE: One of the most commonly used surfactant agent / cleaning agent / foaming agent. Binds to the “dirt” in the skin / hair and washes it away when rinsed.⁣ • COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE: Viscous pale - yellow liquid used in Shampoos because it enhances a lot of aspects that are interesting for this class of product, like gently boosting the foaming / cleaning action and controlling the viscosity / thickness of the cosmetic.⁣ ⁣ • SODIUM CHLORIDE: A hydrophobic compound used to form a water - repelling film. In this product, it's probably used to assist in hydrating the hair by "trapping" water molecules inside, thus retaining moisture. I believe this compound is one of the reasons this can be advertised as also a Conditioner.⁣ ⁣ • FRAGRANCE ( PARFUM ): I love all Dove fragrances. They are always non - aggressive and bring a cozy feeling. This particular Shampoo, I guess I’d describe the smell as “clean vibes blue mint” and it doesn’t carry a lot of the signature sweet cottony DELICIOUS Dove Smell, but please ignore me since I am OBSESSED with their Original Dove White Soap Bar fragrance. lol⁣ ⁣ • CARBOMER: Transparent Gel - like compound used to manipulate the product’s viscosity.⁣ ⁣ • DIMETHICONOL: Silicon - based polymer. Aids with hair and scalp moisture.⁣ ⁣ • DMDM HYDANTOIN: Antimicrobial Formaldehyde-releaser cosmetic preservative. Even though it's considered as "safe" on the skin by FDA as far as carcinogen action goes and it serves well for its preservative purpose, it's known that allergic reactions to Formaldehyde are not uncommon on the overall population. That's the reason many brands for nail polishes, a product that traditionally tends to use Formaldehyde as the preservative of choice, come up with "Hypoallergenic Formaldehyde - Free" versions of their products. Formaldehyde allergy can manifest as atopic dermatitis / eczema.⁣ ⁣ • CITRIC ACID: Very weak acid naturally present in citric fruits. It’s used as a Preservative for cosmetics.⁣ ⁣ • PPG - 9: Propylene Glycol. Very commonly used synthetic organic alcohol that attracts / absorbs water, therefore acting as a solvent to the cosmetic mixture.⁣ ⁣ • ZINC SULFATE: Colorless crystalline compound added to cosmetics mainly due to its Biocide properties – it helps cleansing the skin / preventing odor by destroying or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms.⁣ ⁣ • Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride: OMG THIS NAME LOL. It’s derived from Guar Gum and acts as a Cosmetic Binding Agent, a Cosmetic Thickener and a Conditioning Agent for the hair.⁣ ⁣ • TEA - Dodecylbenzenesulfonate: Ms. Tea here is responsible for Cleaning the skin and hair fiber. Thanks, SurfacTEAnt.⁣ ⁣ • BUTYLENE GLYCOL: Same purpose as Propylene Glycol. Very commonly used synthetic organic alcohol that attracts / absorbs water, therefore acting as a solvent to the cosmetic mixture.⁣ ⁣ • IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE: I’m sorry Dove, but I strongly disagree with the use of this compound. Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate is a known concern for the Cosmetic industry – evidence points to human allergen, gastrointestinal / liver toxicity, environmental toxin, not to mention its use is HIGHLY restricted in Japan and online reports points that this compound Safety Assessment was based on a RELATED chemical. Well... yea. With all the respect to Dove, I don’t believe this was the best choice ever for this formula.⁣ ⁣ • METHYL CHLORO ISO THIAZOLINONE : A cosmetic preservative that has restricted uses in Japan, Canada and all Europe due to strong evidence of being a human skin allergen.⁣ ⁣ • Methylisothiazolinone ( MIT ) : Synthetic Cosmetic Preservative banned in Germany and Europe, restricted in Canada and Japan due to strong evidence pointing to being citotoxic. Ahm... Ok... Right ? Lol⁣ ⁣ • EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS LEAF EXTRACT: Natural extract from Eucalyptus Leaves that acts as a Skin / Hair conditioning agent. Less potent than the Eucalyptus Oil, which honestly only brings some cooling properties and fragrance to the cosmetic.⁣ ⁣ • MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA ( TEA TREE ) LEAF EXTRACT: Natural extract from Tea Tree Leaves that acts as a Skin / Hair conditioning agent. Thank you Topbox for gifting me the Dove Men+Care 2in1 Thick+Strong Shampoo+Conditioner. My husband has very thin hair so he was happy to try this product for his honest opinion. He loves this 2in1 Shampoo and Conditioner that will make his hair sronger. He uses it every morning and enjoys the nice, light masculine fragrance. The gel texture becomes a creamy foam when added to water. He finds that it washes off easily. His hair feels clean, shinny and stronger. He will definitely buy again for it's great quality.

By Far better than Head and Shoulders! H&S would leave a gross film on my hair and would get build up. This Dove Dandruff Shampoo cleans thoroughly, leaves a refreshed feeling on the scalp, takes itching away and leaves hair moisturized and smells so good like mint gum. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you're looking for a deep cleanse that rids buildup and dandruff and the end result, moisture throughout! Btw, a little goes a long way!

I tried it and it was okay. And then I tried Dove Men Care Dermacare Scalp Anti-Dandruff Fortifying Shampoo Conditioner. The liquid texture feels clean, and has a great smell. I love it. The bar codes are the same but it’s definitely a different product. Even the labels are different. I am very saddened and disappointed.

It was a great product

I have been using this shampoo for the past 9 years. After Gillette stopped making their anti-dandruff shampoo this was a great alternative. Then someone I. Corporate let someone who shouldn't think, think and changed the ingredients. They decided to add menthol, cause you know what people like while cleaning their hair is for their eyes to feel like they are on fire. Way to ruin a perfect product.

This was extremely disturbing to my family member who suffers from sensory sensitivities and came as a shock upon using the product, while hoping for a simple 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner that may also help with dandruff. We've both used dandruff shampoos before and have never had this unpleasant effect. I tried this shampoo myself and also found it to be uncomfortable. The ingredients list does not adequately identify which ingredient is causing this, making it harder to avoid this effect with other dove products. PLEASE put more adequate labeling on your products to warn others that this product provides this cooling sensation as this is NOT a common thing to expect from a shampoo, and please list in your ingredients which chemical causes it so those who need to avoid it can.
