This is a keeper. I just started using this on my dogs too. Charlie has itchy skin and I have tried everything that didn't seem to work and keep the itch at bay for any length of time. I tried this on him and surprisingly, he was like statute-man, standing still like he was actually enjoying his bath. Before, he acted like he just wanted to get the bath over and get out of there but not this last time. PLUS hours passed before eliciting any sign of itch and now each time I bath him, more and more time passes before the itch returns. Another plus - after giving the dogs their baths, my hands are so incredibly soft and don't burn from having all the oil washed out of my skin. I was born with eczema prone skin and currently have dry diabetic skin. I am a long time user, on again off again, of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Liquid Soap. However, my curiosity was piqued for the Sugar Soap after reading so many reviews praising its hydrating quality and versatility from head to toe. I finally purchased a bottle in person and was convinced of its hydrating properties after the first time washing my hands with this soap, it does produce a nice lather. Most of my body handled it well right away, but two areas in particular took longer to adjust, my groin and scalp. I finally purchased a bottle in person and was convinced of its hydrating properties after the first time washing my hands with this soap, it does produce a nice lather. Most of my body handled it well right away, but two areas in particular took longer to adjust, my groin and scalp. My groin felt quite itchy after the first time washing it with the Sugar Soap, and for a while I used Dr. Bronner’s Baby Unscented Castile Bar Soap to wash that area but continued to use the Sugar Soap everywhere else on my body. A couple weeks later I was feeling adventurous and washed my groin again with the Sugar Soap and did not experience any itchiness. To be honest my scalp was in pretty rough shape, the skin was dry, flaky, and would be bleeding in some areas after being thoroughly scrubbed. I was only washing my hair and scalp once a week because I was avoiding the whole washing/drying/styling process, I usually experienced a lot of hair breakage. I suffered very little breakage the first and subsequent uses of the Sugar Soap to wash my hair followed by an ACV rinse. However, I do still experience the same amount of breakage when combing my dry hair. My scalp showed back and forth progress for the first several months but it’s slowly progressing to healthy skin with significantly fewer flakes. This is fantastic because I’ve experienced dandruff for decades. This also coincides with the season changing to Spring so less dry air in general. While my groin and scalp needed time to adjust to the Sugar Soap, my face liked it right away. My facial skin showed improvement within two weeks of washing twice daily with the Sugar Soap. Lucky me, I had small breakouts on my chin from unwanted facial hair growing. Inside of every pimple was a baby facial hair. Needless to say, hair plus acne on my chin was a constant source of embarrassment. However, the breakouts have subsided significantly and overtime I’ve noticed an improvement of the acne scar discoloration. The hair still grows but the skin itself is the smoothest and pimple free it’s been in years. That’s great progress. Occasionally, a tiny amount of soap has slipped into my mouth and it does taste sweet but any more and it has a bitter taste. You’ve been warned, don’t lick the soap. The soap is a caramel brown color. Hands down, Dr. Bronner’s Organic Sugar Soap Baby Unscented is my favorite soap for washing my adult body head to toe and has minimized the amount of products I need. I anticipate healthy skin and fewer skin issues the longer I use it; and less need for specialized products. I have moderately hard water, about 3b curly hair texture, plus the aforementioned dry diabetic skin all contributing factors to my dry skin and hair, and I still experienced significant improvement in skin hydration. Please note it’s still necessary for me to use an ACV rinse and moisturizer for my hair. I highly recommend trying Dr. Bronner’s Organic Sugar Soap Baby Unscented for yourself or other sensitive skin people in your life.

I have used Dr. Bronners products for 20 plus years. Always with excitement. I have purchased in a large range of sizes and product.Today, I bought a small 16oz Peppermint for to use at our kitchen sink due to the hot Temps. It's a pick me up, with the Devine aroma I have come to expect. As I began to pour the product into our soap container, I expected it to slowly drip feom the container. Instead, the product was watered down and is not the product I have come to know and love, it's consistency across the years was never questionable.Today, I feel ripped off! The product is too thin to water down. I am very sad!!Retailers are reducing the size of products and charging more. Today, I bought a watered down product.

Would love to see the refills on the shelves of Costco stores in Hawaii. As fancy as it sounds, we live in a very poor community and besides farmers markets, growing our own, we have to supplement with shopping at Costco. It would be amazing if you would support less packaging out here. All the rubbish is put on a boat to be processed somewhere else. In my estimation, burning paper and cardboard presents less of an impact on our precious Aina.Just a thought as prices seem to be getting out of control.Mahalo Nui
This is a fantastic hand soap! It works well in a foaming soap dispenser. I use a ratio of one part soap to four parts water. I also wash my face with the foaming soap. It easily removes makeup but it's a bit drying. That hasn't been a problem for me, though, as I moisturize my face immediately after washing it. I read some reviews that said people brush their teeth with the soap so I tried it. You can definitely do this but I don't recommend it. The soap taste lingers for a long time!
I have been using this soap on my face for 6 years now and I cannot and will not ever switch to another. It keeps my skin clear and doesn't clog my pores while also leaving my skin moisturized. I have combination skin with some really sensitive parts around my mouth, and this is one of the only soaps I can use on my face without aggravating it. My mom passed this holy grail down to me. She's been suffering from topical steroid withdrawals for a few years now and had to cut out most scented products, but never has the peppermint sugar soap done her wrong. It's still a staple in both our bathrooms today. The peppermint is a bit strong, so if your skin is sensitive to essential oils, maybe try the unscented version. However, I have truly never found another soap like ... MoreI have been using this soap on my face for 6 years now and I cannot and will not ever switch to another. This is really great soap! I love the color and feel, and it leaves my skin feeling smooth. It doesn't have any added fragrances, which I love, and the natural scent of the ingredients is subtle, earthy, and warm. I did find that it's irritating to my eyes, but not to a degree that I would stop using it. Just make sure to rinse well and it should fine. Also, I originally bought it mostly for my hair, to go along with the citrus rinse. I tried it a couple of times and just wasn't super happy with the results. We have hard water at my house, though, which can be a complicating factor with castille soap and I wouldn't use my experience to deter someone else. I'll definitely purchase this soap again!
I’m acne prone, always have been, and using shampoo and conditioner will break my back out and create build up on my face. I use the lavender sugar soap on my face, hair, body and don’t have build up/minimal breakouts from it. I also use the sugar soap without any hair rinse, just lather the soap and rinse it out. Leaves my hair soft and bouncy. For my whole acne prone routine, I use:Olive oil (to dissolve makeup)DB Lavender sugar soapDB Coconut lavender lotionBenzoyl peroxide (AM)/Trentinoin (PM)Has worked wonders on my skin! 🤍 Just sharing in case anyone else has the same problems :)
I have tried this product as both shampoo and body wash. I have long, thick hair and usually only wash 1-2 times per week. It left my hair dry and tangled, which is normal so I did apple cider vinegar rinses each time and this did make my hair feel soft (bottle says it’s recommend to do, or buy the “hair rinse”). I feel like I had to use way too many pumps of soap to coat my hair and it is STILL greasy after 3 washes and rinses over 2 days. It does work well as a body wash though. My skin does not have that “tough” feeling after using. Works well as a shampoo and body wash for my husband and two boys. I just wish for the price that it worked more effectively for me.
I love the soap. The Peppermint scent is excellent. The issue is . . . the soap clogs up the soap dispenser very rapidly. I purchased this for use in a hand soap pump type dispenser. The clogging is rather annoying. Now that it has happened, I understand that the Dr. Bronner's sugar soap would have been a better choice, but that was not very clear when I was making my original purchase. Once I am finished with my 32 oz of Pure-Castile, I will switch to the sugar soap and see if that is an improvement.
