The design of these adaptive shoes are perfect for AFOs. We went with extra wide to accommodate them and sized up to accommodate the length of the brace. My son can finally out on his shoes independently while wearing the AFOs. Until we had these shoes he was not able to wear his AFOs due to lack of support for shoe changes. Now he can not only wear them but do so independently.

We like almost everything. The two places that are a bit problematic sometimes is first: getting a good tilt, but that changes per child so you can't do much about that.Second: the shoe laces are always a little too short to tighten up properly and get a good knot. The laces don't need a ton of extra length, but 2 inches longer on all the laces, high tops and low tops need a little longer so they can be tired without coming undone due to poor quality knots.

I struggled to get the sizing right. I did print off all the size charts and highlight my daughter’s measurements on each one and this purchase I got it right! I am nervous to move away from this style shoe but we shall see how it goes with future purchases. The shoes are perfect and put on so easy! It’s cut out time getting ready in half a least!

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

My son wears an AFO so requires two different size shoes. We’ve had a difficult time finding shoes that fit over his brace but having to buy two separate pairs adds to the stress of shoe shopping for him. The customer service team has been incredibly helpful when it comes to making this an easy and seamless process for us. They not only helped with my order but gave me detailed instructions on how to order in the future so I don’t need to reach out to them every time. The shoes are great for over AFOs.

Amazing!

My son loves his Billy! They work so well with him having to wear his feet braces. We love the look of them too! Show many choices to choose from which makes it awesome. Makes him feel like he’s not that much different than anybody else. The quality of Billy shoes are amazing! The shoes always fit amazing with having to wear feet braces on both feet.

Cute, functional, not very sturdy

My daughter LOVES these, however, she managed to break these within 2.5 weeks of wearing them. The zipper wraps around the front of the toe, which makes them super easy to put on, but she drags her toes and trips all the time, and she managed to break the zipper apart from the rest of the shoe right at the top of the toe. So, still would highly recommend, but maybe for kiddos who are a little more gentle on shoes. They don't hold up to rough play very well.

Good quality, confusing measurements

These shoes are great quality. We purchased our first few pairs from Target but they were always a bit too narrow for my boy so I decided to try ordering on the site based on his measurements. I measured his foot multiple times and the size I ordered was too large. It’s so hard to gauge sizing and try to add room for growth, but my suggestion would be to not add ANY room to your measurements and strictly go from the chart measurements.

Great Shoes

One of the best things about Billy Shoes is that they allow for the purchase of a single shoe. A year ago, I purchased a full pair of these in a size 10 toddler at the advice of my local Shriner's. Come to find out that the design of my son's AFO for his right foot was not going to accommodate him, the size 10s were too small and the left shoe was too big for his left foot to wear at that time. A year later, after saving these shoes on the shelf, my son's left foot finally caught up to the size 10s and in order to accommodate his right foot AFO, we needed a single size 12 little kid shoe to make a full pair for him to wear this year. These are the best I've found

I got the XDR because my 34 year old daughter, who wears a size one cannot fit in even the wide shoes. Her feet aren't wide, they are just pudgy, like a babies still, from never walking. I wish the foot part was a little deeper. So she could get he regular ones. These look really big for a size 1, but at least these will work. I cannot find any regular closed toes shoes that will fit her anywhere. These are he best I have found.

WISH THEY HAD MORE XTRA WIDE SHOES TO CHOOSE FROM.

My grandson wears an AFO only on one foot. The sizing is duable. I guess with the foot that does not have an afo. Except for that, there is very little selection with the extra wide width and the zipper that goes all the way around the toe is what he needs. He has had a several black Classic ll high tops already. he is 8 and I just wish there was more that he could choose from.
