Doc Martens are not a trend, they're an investment. They're absolutely awful for about a month (or even longer) when you're breaking them in. However, I advise you NOT to cheat and freeze them (or whatever foolish things people do) to soften the leather (beside using the protective balm), let them wear in naturally so they conform to your feet! I have 3 pairs. One white 1460, one dark navy 1460, and one brown pair of an older style I don't know. The brown ones I was given, and they're used. My white pair is entirely broken in, I'm working on the navy, and my brown ones are broken in to someone else's foot shape. I have achilles tendonitis, plantars fasciitis, and I've suffered through stress fractures. These are literally bouncy, and they're the best shoes/boots I've ever owned. They're warm and perfect from fall-late spring, and they always get a reaction (for better or worse, some people think they're ugly but I don't care).

I love these boots! They are made with sturdy genuine leather, are heavy duty, but are super comfortable. I’ve had them 6 months and they still look brand new. They hold up better than any other boots I own. They go with any outfit I have on, casual or more dressed up. I want a pair in brown too!

A Boot You Can Rely On
10 September 2022

In Doctor Martens we trust. The 1460 boot is an iconic, timeless design. The boot itself is practical, functional and will last and last once you’ve put the time and effort into wearing it in. Currently, I’m finding plasters on the ankle and thick socks works for the first few outings just until the leather moulds to your feet. Short term, there might be a little pain, but the long term gain is worth it and I urge you to stick with your Docs! Few other shoe makers have made their mark on history, fashion and society like Doctor Martens!

Absolutely cannot do wrong with the classic Docs in cherry red. I have had the classic docs in black for over 15 years. They are indestructible and I love the sleek design. The sizing for me is perfect too. I’m a “big 7” but size 8 shoes are always too big for me. I went for a size 7 in these and they fit perfect.

Cheaper materials than expected
15 December 2021

I’ve bought your boots for over 30 years and unfortunately your quality of materials has declined. I have a pair of boots that I bought in 1997 that are still in really good shape but I have several pairs that Ive bought over the last few years that have failed / worn out fairly easily. Please up your quality game. I know its not easy nowadays, but quality is supposed to be what makes your brand stand out. Oh, and stop with the sandals. Please. They’re terrible.

Love at first wear
6 January 2023

I had my last pair 30 years ago at university and I was worried my memories were through rose tinted glasses. I need not have worried. My new pair live up to all expectations and are even better than I remember. They fit like a glove and look fabulous. I want more now in different colours!!

26 January 2023

Oh my word what can I say, I was given my first pair of ox red Dr Martins in 1987 and my daughter now has these and loves wearing them. I was over the moon that 36 years later I was given a pair for a birthday gift. I got the same feeling putting this new pair on as I did in 1987. The quality, style and comfort is timeless. The fit is perfect. I love them.

20 March 2023

The construction is good and sturdy. However, they are rigid the first time you wear them, so prepare with some leather softener or bandaids. The colour is lovely and perfect for autumn outfits. However, the fit is slightly bigger than I expected, mainly around the ankles and calves.Good quality overall and packaging.

great quality, really heavy
6 January 2022

I really do like these. But, they are slightly to big. I usually wear a size 7.5, but with the change in shoe sizing ( not universal anymore) I end up with a size 8. They said these ran a little small, well they don't. They are heavy, after the first time wearing them , my legs were tired. Not used to that. They are very stiff, and they were rubbing on my ankle. Before I can wear these for any length of time, I will have to some how break them in. I haven't had boots this stiff in a while.
