I asked the shop assistant and sought heel slippage is normal until there worn in. The 1460s are a good intro to Dr Martens because of the softer leather. They are quite squeaky though. Iām hoping with time this stops.

Fact - I have been wearing Docs for 30 years. As even their marketing suggests these shoes are notoriously stiff and are uncomfortable to break in. When you do get them right, you wear them until they fall apart. Another Fact - these boots are made out of some newfangled magic. They were remarkably comfortable out of the box and required absolutely zero break in. No double socks. No sore toes. No blisters. Just, loads of toe room and comfy feet. These are how boots are supposed to be made!

Beautifully made - the quality is outstanding!Lovely soft leather.Great fit- apart from the band across the top of the foot at the bottom of the laces!I don't have a high arch - but it is soooo tight that it's painful!But the rest of the boot is so nice that I couldn't bring myself to send them back!I'm persevering with the stretching and the wearing - hoping it will improve!That's the only reason that they're not 5 star.After reading quite a few of the reviews, I can see that this is mentioned a lot!C'mon Dr Martens - take notice!I purposely bought the soft leather to avoid having to 'break them in' - so it's a little bit annoying!

Size 8s were miles too big, so I ordered 7s. However, they were like a completely different boot! The leather was completely different - harder, smoother and much stiffer with an invisible grain compared to the 8s.The sizing was also different as I couldn't really fit my feet into the 7s, while the 8s are too big even with 2 pairs of socks and heel grips! I noticed the 7s and 8s are made in different countries too.Very frustrating to have such size and material inconsistency, as it means I can't actually get a pair that fits me.
These were my first every pair of real Docs! I had to return for a smaller size (I'm a 9-91/2 but I went down to the 8 and they are a much better fit, length wise). The left boot is really tight width wise. Maybe my left foot is fatter? I have a pair of shoe stretchers though so I am stretching that one out and hope that all I need to do is break them both in. I love the look of them and the softer leather. I feel like a proper 90s kid.
I absolutely love these docs. The leather is so soft and didn't take any breaking in at all and they look fabulous with everything. I normally wear a size 10, and could wear a 10.5 though it's not often available. For these I ordered an 11 to have more room in the toe box and to fit my insoles (Fultons) and the fit is perfect. I was worried it would be a little too roomy, but it's not, which makes me think sizing runs just a tad small.
I recently bought two pairs of these bootsāone for myself and one for my husbandāand we couldnāt be happier! The quality is absolutely fantastic, with the rugged Grizzly leather feeling both durable and luxurious.The fit is true to size, and theyāve been comfortable enough to wear all day without any issues. The key to maximising comfort is finding the right socks to pair with them. I also used a leather balm to soften the material, which worked wonders and made the breaking-in process a breeze.Not only are these boots practical for colder weather with their cosy fur lining, but they also look great and feel like theyāll last for years. I love them so much Iām already tempted to buy another pair. Highly recommended!
I am a 50ish lady with wide feet who has to wear menās sizes. I have wanted a pair of Docs ever since my teens. This is my first pair but wonāt be my last! I love them. They go with everything. Wore them to the pub today with a black dress. Wore them to the beach last week. The soft Ambassador leather takes very little wearing in - mine are true to size and were comfortable almost immediately. If the menās sizes ever come in more colours, Iād love a dark green or dark purple pair. :-D

My foot just slotted in, I felt tightness but not being in pain ! So maybe just needed that extra room in the instep made the difference! I've worn them twice and once to break in the house. Not had any blisters or anything so must be good! I have literally fell in Love š also the soft leather is beautiful ! Gorgeous looking boots! Lovely soft leather, classic style. Beautifully made, as expected. Read the reviews for sizing, measured foot length and width. Ordered my usual size, UK 7 standard fit. However, I could not get my feet in at all. Definitely a VERY narrow fit! Length wise they would've been perfect but they just weren't a standard fit. Absolutely gutted as I loved the look of them. I suggest the unisex 1460 Pascal, which I couldn't find, as apparently they are wider fitting than the 1460 Pascal Virginia.
