While I am extremely happy with your customer service and the ease of returning a first pair of damaged 1461's, I am quite disappointed with the 2nd pair as well. I have only worn them TWICE and the right shoe already has hideous creases. I also used the DrMarten protectant sealant before I wore them. I did not expect a pair of 120.00 shoes to wear so quickly and so noticeably. Ironically, the reason for my initial exchange was an ugly crease also on the right shoe. I believe this to be some kind of manufacturing error. If I thought I could return this 2nd pair, I would. And get a totally different style. This model doesn't seem to be made well at all. I also have the Mary Jane's and love them and have no issues. In my efforts to minimising waste clothing and footwear, I bought these. I had already got Crazy Horse Chelsea boots which weren't to hard to break in. I wanted a more casual plain lace-up so went for the 1461 in the same leather. I know they'll look good whether polished or not, with denims or chinos. I've worn them with medium thick socks. I expect to be able to wear them with lighter socks as they wear in more. But I've got the micropore tape handy if my feet need some help!

Well made and look great. Yeah the leather scuffs and shows marks but that is part of the “look”. Get some of the balsam to smooth that back out, but personally I like the “lived in” look of them.I normally buy a UK size 11 but these required an insole to fit properly! They are about a half size too big. Bought the genuine Doc Martin cushioned insole n heel grips and the fit is now great.I am sick of buying expensive shoes that last 10 weeks. I am a teacher on my feet all day. Hopefully these will last a bit better.

Very happy with these shoes both in terms of fit and comfort. Got my normal size (7w), I have narrow feet so they are a little loose if I am wearing thin socks, but better a little loose than too tight. Break-in period was minimal and painless, and unlike DM boots, these did not cause any issues on my heels/achilles tendon (which admittedly was a concern). Overall really happy with my purchase! A sturdy, comfortable classic that can be dressed up or down.
Leather very stiff to begin and shoes need quite a bit of breaking in. Comfortable once done so, if a little strange when walking due to the cushioned soles, but I will probably get used to that in time. True to size, albeit that only becomes apparent after breaking in.Shoe trees help. The brand, which I encountered first as a teenager in the sixties, has become upmarket, fashionable and consequently expensive.A good shoe overall, but not cheap compared to competition. There was an issue when at online checkout no discount code could be applied, but Dr Martens subsequently refunded the 10%. Their online shop software thus needs rectifying.
These shoes fit well and are a nice color. They are comfortable. But these shoes are squeaky!! The squeak comes from the contact with the floor. I’m hoping they will quiet after a good amount of walking. But they are driving me crazy right now. I’ve walked down a hallway and people have commented on my squeaky shoes.
For me these felt like men's shoes big and wide. There was know delicateness about themI am a size five in shoes and needed them for workI don't have big wide feet. The length of the shoe it fine it just the wideness of them .I don't have tiny feet just normal feetI have gone for the flat Virginia shoe in black it is a pity there are no other colours than just pink and black in that range.Else I would have brought another another pair
I own Dr marten boots and these shoes I tried in 2 sizes. They slip off the heel and I had no more room in the toe so I couldn’t go smaller. The low star review is because these are not sold in stores and I had to order online. Then when the size didn’t fit, they wouldn’t do an exchange. I had to pay seven dollars to return those and then make a whole new order. Then the second pair I got didn’t fit and I had to pay seven dollars to return those. So it cost $14 just to shop. Not to do an exchange for a new size is unheard of.
This is my first ever pair of DMs. I wanted a shoe that was leather, sturdy, with a decent and grippy sole, that is smart enough to be worn in the office but rugged enough to survive work’s storage area, with lots of box lifting and lots of grubbing about on the floor. These fit the bill perfectly and have the added advantage of being universally admired by all my friends.I’ve worn them for just under a week. They’re comfy from the get-go, but I’m hoping the leather creak will stop soon!
I sincerely liked the quality and fit of these traditional oxford shoes, but I returned them because the heels are lifted to an extent that bother my back on my tall (6'4") frame. If I had any wish for Dr. Martin, or shoe makers generally, would be to proportionally scale down the heel height, relative to the ball of the foot, to the foot size (assuming larger sizes would generally be purchased taller individuals). Shorter men and women seem to prefer higher heels, the taller among us maybe not so much. I personally am more comfortable with little or no increase in the height of the heel over the ball of the foot. But most shoes have some. The shoes find myself the most comfortable with are the Sperry brand boat shoes I have owned.
