This used to be my favourite design and I've worn my last pair to pieces. So I was delighted to see it on the market again and immediately bought it. It is just as smooth as my
old one, especially the leather interior appears to prevent blisters and painful rubbing (at least for me). The leather will, as per usual, take some time breaking in but

I have been wearing Dr. Martens all my working life. (I'm old!)I don't do ordering on-line.My boys said that i should give it a go as it would be easier and hassle free.So i thought i'd give it a go because getting to the nearest stockist is a right faff and a waste of a day.It took me ages to do it, not because of the website (which did make it easy, even for me) but because i wanted to get it right.I'm probably in the upper age bracket of those who may normally do the ordering on-line thing.I felt quite pleased with myself when i had completed my order.I liked all the emails telling me what was happening with my order.I felt even more elated when my order arrived quicker than i expected.How dejected did i feel when on opening the box i found the wrong ... Hard Leather

The leather is too tough and hard. It usually takes about 8 weeks of using for me to walk the shoes in. When the shoes are walked in they are very good. But it is the initial 8 weeks I find the shoes hard on my feet and painfull to walk very far.The first time I used the shoes my toes strated to bleed. So good shoes but very hard to walk in. The shoes are made of very tough hard leather. Also expensive to buy at £120 per pair. You need to find a way to make the leather softer on new shoes. Best wishes. S.Ward.... Show more

Impossible to tell fit size

There are two versions of the 1461 Plain Welt Smooth Leather. One with a rounded toe, one with a more narrow toe, but the difference isn't described anywhere except you can see it in one of the pictures if you know what to look for. The narrow fit is much smaller in size, and it wouldn't fit my foot. Instant return. It needs to be much clearer which shoes/models are narrow fit and which ones are "normal" with rounded toes regarding all models. Unfortunately Dr Martens and most resellers are not clear on this and provide no info. Been wearing Dr Martens boots and shoes for 20 years, but this experience has left me sour and not too keen on buying another pair.... Show more

Painful

A good fit but because they’re so thin just below the ankle they’re causing me a lot of pain. I bought them to wear for work at my new job, but I’ve had to go back to an older pair of shoes because the DMs have been hurting me so much. I wish I could swap them for a more comfy fit but I’ve already worn them twice. I feel really deflated about them and I don’t know what to do :( .... Show more

Quality in the toilet.

What has happened to your products and company? Last time I bought a pair, 3 or so years ago, I bought the steel toe capped variety for around £80. I cannot find these anywhere now, so bought these from the maker instead. The price has shot up by almost double and the quality is in the toilet. The leather is so hard, it is causing great pain while walking. My last few pairs have needed almost no walking in, these shoes are like a £15 pair from Shoe Express, I do not expect this from shoes which cost this much. I am very disappointed and will be my last pair of Docs.... Show more

Try before buy

Very large for size, I have had several pairs of Dr Martens in this size but this one leaves a big gap at the heal. Recommend going to the shop to try to ensure it is the right fit, before ordering online. Very nice shoe, but the picture makes them look slimmer than they are.... Show more

Excellent quality, comfortable, and stylish shoes. They are a perfect fit for narrow feet and you can wear it smart or casual and there isn't the stitching on the sole, which I prefer the monochromatic look.I would definitely recommend it.... Show more
