Classic oxfords
I have been a fan of Dr. Martens for a long time and as an older adult, I appreciate the mono stitching of this pair for its simplicity. The leather is stiff at first but the sole is comfortable for me from the start. I appreciate the heft of the sole and am not bothered that it feels heavier than other shoes. The look is great with knee length or shorter skirts, ankle pants, and basically anything that will show off the full Oxford shoe, in my opinion. As always, the shipping is so quick from Altitude. I'm a fan of the shoe and the store.... Show more

Comfortable classic
I absolutely love these shoes. I used to have a patent leather version of these (not Doc Martens) when I was in middle school and I wore those into the ground, I enjoyed them so much. These are definitely a more solid, classy version of them. I recommend a “breaking in” period for these as they do arrive feeling very stiff. (For reference, I’m a womens size 8.5, got these in an 8 and they fit just right. I have a more narrow foot.) Only took a few days of wear to feel like they were more comfortable. Overall a good fit and great looking shoe. Very versatile, too. I think I might splurge later for the patent Made in England version of these down the line.... Show more

Doc Martens 1461 Mono Smooth Leather Oxford Shoes - Unisex
I am usually a size 7.5-8 in women's shoes, and ordered a size 8 in these. I found that they ran quite big, so I would recommend sizing down. I was disappointed with how chunky these shoes were, given that the picture online makes them look much sleeker. I was hoping to get these as more formal shoes, but they don't work for that. However, they seem very well made and durable. Overall I think this is a great shoe - it's just not what I was looking for.... Show more

Honest review
I will be honest to you guys. I’m 28 years old, had a lot of shoes in my life. Know what it’s like to have hard leather shoes even with metal tip, or hiker shoes like La Sportiva… I bought this shoes for my wedding because it looked great with my suit. 2 weeks I’ve tried to get used to them every day for one hour or more.Thing is, this shoe feels like I’ve put my foot into actual iron. That wasn’t the size issue, I actually had space left at the tip a little. Just the shoe itself made my wedding experience in pain, I could barely even walk it was the worst shoes I’ve ever wore. I will never ever try Dr. Martens again. Sorry, but this is what I experienced truly.... Show more

Look fabulous as Oxfords but not wide enough so returned
Whilst I love the look of these shoes and chose these as a replacement for one of two other pairs of shoes that fit my width of foot, I could not even shoe horn my feet into these shoes without feeling I was pushing a square peg into a round hole. One of the reasons I love Dr Martens shoes is that they have fitted my feet so well on the past, but these were so crushing to the extent a shoe horn even struggled, I had no choice but to return these on Day 1.As a result of poor sizing, I had to measure the sole up against my other 1461s and found these fall well short on width. Lengthwise great but not width so I am left wondering whether to go up a size or go for another choice of shoe. I'm now wondering if this model was designed for unisexual use but I ensured at ... Probably the best shoes i ever had. Goes well with any look. Great build, great sole bounce.Important note: They felt very strange and uncomfortable right outside the box. Users advised me: "Do not change for a greater size, 'break' them in!". At first this seemed odd, but i had tried on a friend's pair of old Smooth Leather 1461's beforehand (same feet size as mine) and it was a perfect fit. So i knew it was true to size. It took me about 2 weeks of using them inside the house and then walking around the streets (not without enduring pain, the brand new leather feels very stiff), and now they started to feel like gloves on my skin. I guess each body has its imperfections, so it takes a while for the unit to adapt - humans are not made on molds. Don't panic! I ... MoreProbably the best shoes i ever had. Goes well with any look. I almost did and would have ended up with "Clown Feet" had i picked the greater size. Some good things in life need an amount of grinding. Thanks Doc!... Show more

Mono 1461
It’s early days but here it goes. I bought these for a funeral but wanted something I could wear again and again afterwards. I went half a size up than normal as I was worried about breaking them in. They fit perfectly. I wore them around the house first for a couple of hours each day. They are stiff but did t rub anywhere. When it came to the funeral I wore them for 8 hours straight and they were really comfy. I’ll definitely be wearing them in over the winter months as my shoe of choice. They look great with everything. The only reason I gave a 4 is that the shape doesn’t look like it will hold amazingly well but I’ll order some balsam and invest in some shoe trees to maintain them. A shoe for any occasion.... Show more

Terrible quality control
I purchased these and thought they would be just like every other pair of Doc Martens, 8 in totally that I’ve owned over the years. I put them on and started hearing a loud popping noise with every step coming from my left shoe. I thought maybe it just needs to be broken in. By the end of the day I was feeling an air bubble kinder my foot. These shoes are unwearable. I have reached out to customer service and their recommendations were tu lightly sand the sole of my shoe and if that didn’t work, to rub a dryer sheet on the sole. I’m over it, I’ll buy my shoes elsewhere.... Show more

Use a shoe horn and dubbin…..
These are stiff as I remember them. Use a shoe horn to stop scrapping your heals (when new) whilst putting them on and use dubbin when breaking them in and you have a better chance of a pain free break in period. Also worth using a shoe trees if you have them.I haven’t had a pair of these since my teenage years…..it’s been too long. The quality is as i remember them, perhaps the leather is a little thinner, but I don’t think that will matter. These are good looking enough to wear with a suit and rugged and comfortable enough to wear everyday.... Show more

Width is too small
My fourth pair. My first was a Made in England one and my size is 8.5. However they stopped making it in England and no more half sizes. So I bough size 9 for the Made in Vietnam and China ones which is fine. This latest pair however (Made in China) the width is really too small compared to earlier cut. I know we need to run in the shoe but it is a very painful experience for this pair with blisters even though I’ve worn it a week. Had to bring it to a cobbler to expand it which helped a little. I think this will be the last time I will get one.... Show more
