Dr. Martens Chelsea 2976 Smooth Black Boots
While the first dr. Martens 2976 chelsea boot was produced in the early '70s, the original style has victorian origins. Farmers loved the sure fit and easy-on, easy-off elastic ankle gusset - kickass style was just an unexpected side effect. These days, the 2976 chelsea boot is a slick, uncompromisingly fashion-forward look for both sexes. Part of our lost archives collection, this boot is made with the classic dr. Martens smooth leather, a lightly textured, highly durable leather with a soft sheen. The 2976 serves up all the signature doc's dna, like our iconic yellow stitch, air-cushioned soles and scripted heel-loops. Product details material durable and famously stiff to start, our smooth leather can be polished to a dapper shine or artfully scuffed-up depending on your preference. Care instructions smooth clean away dirt using a damp cloth, allow to dry apply correct coloured wax based shoe polish to restore shine as desired. Construction this is a goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are heat-sealed and sewn together, not merely glued like many footwear constructions.

I’m a standard size 9 in most/all brands, and rarely ever have to deviate from that. I ordered my regular size 9 despite what the reviews said, and they ended up being huge (even with thick socks). Decided to return them since it wasn’t practical to keep them, and I ordered a size 8. The size 8 is pretty tight. I’m trying to push through and see if they break in better, which they have, but I’m not close to them being remotely comfortable. I am not sure if the process is worth it in the end. Pretty disappointed because most people that I know love their Drs. Things to note, the sole of the shoe and comfortability of them (sizing aside) is great. The hole to put your foot through at the top of the boot is pretty small, I’ll echo what others have said in that you’ll definitely need to use the loop to assist putting them on. If you wear these with lower socks (think ankle), there’s a high probability that it’ll scratch at the back of your leg a bit as it does mine. If I wasn’t going for this look in particular, I think I would’ve landed on Blundstones for just an every day boot.

Got these shoes after a month of thinking and asking a million questions to anyone that i saw have them on. They don’t have half sizes and more times then not i got told to size up. I did and i am glad i did. I need no slip shoes for my restaurant job. When i first got the box i thought to my self “woah this is super heavy” they are, they are heavy but sturdy and thick. They just feel good quality all around. The reason they feel heavy to me is that i wear Cortez, Nike air, or uggs on all the other days. So those weight nothing. When i wear these boots i feel like a whole different person ready to kick throat the day and make my self have a nice and easy day. It also helps that these shoes have a built in insole in them. Nice and cushioning.

Have had the boots for a couple of weeks. They were difficult to get on, then almost impossible to get off again, though the size is correct.Have been persevering and trying to wear them in gradually. Firstly around the house for a while then outdoors. Walking for about half an hour at a time now. My, they are still uncomfortable, especially around the ankles. The leather in now starting to crease slightly across the feet. To be quite honest I'm disappointed considering the amount they cost. Why is the leather so stiff?

I was tired of boot shopping until finally I decided to buy a pai of Dr martens. I'm so glad I did and this was an investment. One of the best pair of boots iv owned. The sole and grip with the yellow stitching I absolutely love the craftsmanship. Leather is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. No need to worry about scratches and scuffs and I didn't even need to break into my boots. Well packaged and arrived super quick. Great first time experience and the discount made it even more sweeter. Hope these stand the rest of time!
I splurged and got the Made in England boot and have zero regrets. Excellent craftsmanship, generous fit, and they are breaking in nicely. Shipping was fast, and the packaging was lovely. I typically wear women’s 8.5/9US and opted to go with the 9. A half size down would have been perfect if that had been an option. They are roomy for a 9, but that’s ok because they will accommodate thicker socks if needed. One suggestion with the Chelsea boot: get heel inserts; this will prevent any pressure on the back of your leg and make the boots even more comfortable right out of the box.
These are a huge disappointment. I am a solid 38 EU, always a 5 UK (closer fit) or 6 UK ( if I want to add an insole or just have more room) in Dr Marten’s. The 5 UK/7 US in these is too short. My toes hit the end of the boot (on my shorter foot!) I didn’t even bother to try on the left boot. For reference, I have at least 4 pair of Docs in 5UK/7US that fit fine. These boots are extremely difficult to get on and off, as well. If you have high insteps, forget it. The insoles cannot be removed and are rock-hard except for a smidgin of cushion at the heel. I’m sorry I wasted time ordering these. It seems Docs are so hit or miss now.. I’m not going to bother with them anymore.
I've been wearing Docs since the 90s, and have found they typically run true to size. To my disappointment, I found this untrue of this particular boot and should have heeded the reviews of others and ordered a size down.Since I have a wider foot and wear a women's 9.5 in most brands, I decided to take my chances on the (size chart) recommended size 40. That was a big mistake I couldn't return because the leather these boots are made of shows noticeable wear* at flex points. After a few months of looking at them in my closet, knowing I couldn't wear them without my feet looking comically large and slipping in the soles, I ordered a size down (39) and couldn't be happier. They're comfortable and flattering, and only took about 10 hours of intermittent wear to break in.Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the fit and look of these boots. My sister, with larger feet, loves her new pair as well!*I highly recommend purchasing the shoe care kit. These boots require extra protection and care. In general, because of the Crazy Horse leather and specifically if you live somewhere salt is used to treat ice and snow. If you haven't purchased the Wonder Balsam in a long time, take note that it no longer comes with an applicator.
The workmanship and attention to detail are superb.I purchased US women’s size 7,(I usually wear 6 but need to add supportive insoles. The boots are breaking in nicely and are very comfortable.I have 2 other pair of Made in England Doc shoes which are 30 years old and finally needing refurbishing so I can continue to wear them.I bought the boots to serve as all purpose shoes in a practical sense not a fashionable one; a good thing in my case as I’m 5’1’ 110 lbs with skinny legs; the boots look almost comical on my feet …. but I love them!
I have bad back issues and plantar fasciitis. With in the first day of wearing these to work I had relief. I can't remember a time without lower back pain or walking easily after 10-12 hours on my feet until now. Just like any boot they took about a week to break in with 10-12 hour days. I used corn pads to prevent rubbing on my ankles, after 1st week I did not need them anymore. The breaking in process was not as bad as I feared it to be. Minor ankle discomfort after removing them at night, but not noticeable while wearing. I have had them awhile now and will probably never try another shoe again. I have tried so many over the last 10 years nothing comes close to the relief i have felt. The slip resistant is great in water, Freezers, and other slippery areas. With greasy floors, their is minor slippage, not enough to cause a fall. 10/10 recommend.
Honestly, so happy with my purchase! I had no idea Myer even stocked Doc Martens, so when I saw they were available, I was overjoyed. The boots are so comfortable as well. I have a pair of lace up Docs, and they took some breaking in - blisters included. These ones however fit perfectly snug from the moment I put them on. I'm happy to report that I have no blisters whatsoever breaking these ones in (if you can call it breaking in).The only downside is they are a little tight to get off, so I have to sit on a chair to remove them, I feel like that will pass as they are worn in further, and I can slip them off while standing.
