Tried and true, and they will last you forever! That is the most important thing to say about Doc Martens in addition to them being some of the coolest footwear on the planet.
I have owned boots and shoes from this brand since the 70’s and still have every pair. Over the years, the U.K. brand has expanded from lace up combat style boots to
platforms, shoes, and sandals, always with the inimitable yellow stitching and fine craftsmanship they are known for. The brand has done many collaborations over the years,
but has always stayed true to their iconic look and high-quality. Buying a pair of Docs is an investment and well worth it since these shoes and boots are made to... Show more

Undisputable champion of stylish looks. That's why I bought it in the first place. True to size. Breaking-in is rather easy. Protective kit does its' job as well. The only drawback I
found is, probably, exclusively applicable to my unique pair of boots, not model as such. That is this thingy, inside part of the seam between shoe tongue and a vamp. In one
of the boots it's sticking out a bit which really creates a painful feeling. Although, I can squeeze in my feet in a way that it pushes that seam up in a way that it lays over the fit
and doesn't stick into it. Sometimes takes 3-4 wearing attempts to achieve it, but it works. Another shoe doesn't have it like that. It's probably better cut, polished... Show more

I know these boots are popular and alot of people I know rave about them, but for me it’s a no. They come up very large so being a size 11 I purchased a size down and still
too big. The leather is also very hard, almost rigid and not comfortable at all. Although they have a very good sole I personally think the leather is poor and certainly doesn’t
reflect the price tag. I don’t want a boot I have to suffer blisters for weeks to wear them in. I want a good quality winter boot out the box.I have however just purchased the
comb tech utility boots and the difference is phenomenal. Perfect for, soft leather and much less common they the 1460s. My review of those will be a 5 star, but... Show more

Buying a pair of Docs is an investment and well worth it since these shoes and boots are made to last and last. I currently own three pairs of lace up boots, including these classic eight eyelet ones, as well as platform Chelsea boots, a couple of pairs of Oxfords and a pair of platform, steel toe high boots that are no longer made - 7 pairs total. And for anyone who doesn’t think that they fit the vibe of combat boots, there are other options, such as Chelsea boots that can be dressed up or down and pretty cool sandals for warm weather. I can’t recommend Doc Martens enough… I’ve got my eye one or two more that I plan to purchase in the near future!... Show more

I loved too much how it looks on me, don't want to give it back! I would put 4.5 stars if I could. Wouldn't say this drawback deserves a full star. Thanks, Dr. Martens! Extremely disappointed by the redesign
8 June 2024
I got these new Docs earlier this year after wearing out my old 1460s that I'd had for years. I loved my old pair of 1460s, and wore them regularly for years until they literally fell apart at the seams; they were stylish, comfortable, and kept my feet warm.Evidently Doc Martens have changed the design of these shoes since my last pair, and I now find them essentially unwearable. The biggest issue for me is how wide the opening of the boots are: even with the laces fully tightened, the opening leaves a huge gap between my leg and the front of the boot, which fails to secure the boots and makes my feet slip with every step. Even after adding padding to the top of the tongue, the wide opening is so bad that I can't wear them for any real period of time. Even after adding padding to the top of the tongue, the wide opening is so bad that I can't wear them for any real period of time. This is with the exact same size of boot that I used to wear, and my feet wouldn't fit in a smaller size. I know I have large feet and skinny legs, but I've never had an issue like this with any other kind of footwear in my life.See the attached pictures for how large the gap is and how much smaller the opening used be on my old style of Docs (using a friend's boot for reference, it's a smaller size but the opening is clearly different).Additionally, the leather used feels noticeably thinner and lower-quality than the leather used in my old boots, and the new laces are annoyingly short (a full 18" shorter than my old Docs' laces for the same size of boot!)Overall, I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated by these boots. I love the style of black Docs, but I am literally not capable of wearing these shoes in their current state. I truly hope Doc Martens can fix these design problems in the future.... Show more

In Love

I have been wanting a pair for a long time. I cannot believe I waited until I was almost 40 to get a pair , but they are everything I expected and more. I have been wearing them every day to break them in and doing all the suggestions from others with balm right when I got them, I also got the insoles from Dr. Martins for added comfort these nailed it for added cushion and breaking in faster I believe. At night I take them off and put 50 oz water bottles in each to stretch them, it has been helping as well I am a size 13 so the stretching out is fine on them. In comparison to the other shoes I wear I buy all 13s they are true to fit, especially for a leather shoe as well. My Docs
6 December 2023
I was hesitant to order Doc Martens because I have read so many comments about blisters, etc during the “breaking in period”. I ordered a men’s size which is a bit wider and purchased a pair of padded socks. I have worn the boots several times and so far so good. The tongue and back of boots are pretty stiff. but an application of mink oil has helped. I have been wearing the boots for about 3-5 hrs at a time. The sole is fairly small thick and pushing gas pedal feels off and sometimes stub my toes. The only negative comment and really not negative is that the bottoms of my feet feel numb after a few hours but that has improved with each wear. Overall it’s a good looking boot, had a sturdy sole and I feel sure I will wear them for a long time.... Show more

Pretty good, not great.

Firstly, I'm a true 11, I bought a pair of MIE US12s a few years ago, they were always way too sloppy on me. US11s fit really well widthwise, but are ALMOST too short. They fit more like US10.5s, but DM US12s fit like US12s. As they break-in and my heel settles into the boot, my toes don't hit the front of the boot as often, but I definitely can't wear insoles with them. It's a bummer that the cheaper DMs fit basically perfectly but for the "nicer" ones you just have to deal with this goofy sizing, meanwhile Solovair out here with half-sizing.Also, my other MIE 1460s came in a nice box with brochure and bag. These came thrown in the standard Dr Marten box which was totally crushed in shipping. Quality of the boot is fine. Leather is *ok* - very stiff and dry. ... MoreFirstly, I'm a true 11, I bought a pair of MIE US12s a few years ago, they were always way too sloppy on me. Conditioning it heavily with mink oil and hairdryer on the inside helped tremendously with break-in.Ultimately I like my boots and the longer I wear them the better they fit and feel, but they could be SO. MUCH. BETTER. if Dr Martens just paid less attention to marketing and more attention to making a quality product with better sizing options.... Show more

Runs really large but nice shoes.

Wow, getting the right fit was a challenge in the store. The salesperson claimed they are unisex, but believe me they are not. The women's version is crazy tight where the tongue is sewn on with no give whatsoever. They run really large, and even when you get the length right they are still wide and loose and require thicker socks. The soles are really soft and comfortable with great grip on snow and ice. They have no lining just raw leather, so not really for cold weather. Odd because most of their other models are lined, which fills out the looseness. I like the style a lot in black. I did notice the brown color discolors almost immediately with use where it creases along the top, even just trying them on in the store.... Show more

Wish I'd bought them sooner

I'd been mulling over purchasing a pair of docs for a while. Should I shouldn't I? The cost and the subsequent effort of breaking them in being the main barriers stopping me making a quicker purchase. I'm glad I bit the bullet! The quality shines through and they will easily justify the price tag and fit seemlessly into my wardrobe as I can wear them with pretty much anything. Yes, they can rub a bit on my achilles... but, they're new and nothing truly worthwhile comes without effort so I'm just donning a thicker pair of socks and gradually wearing them for longer periods / walking slightly further with them. The breaking in period has been better than I thought it would.Very pleased with the purchase.... Show more
