My first dream baby gate I got 3 years ago. I have an in home daycare and it was the perfect gate for my stairs. Then I needed a gate for my craft room. (Too many choking hazards for the little ones crawling around.) The first gate system I ordered was the Chelsea extra wide extra tall. Well, my gate was broken. Most likely damaged during shipping. There was oil leaking and the gate was broken in the bottom hinge. It would pop off when ever I opened it... ☹️ Then I’d have to line up the gate and slide it back onto its bottom hinge. The broken gate made me never even want to go into my favorite room... The doorway was very large also, and the gate never seemed to stay in place. I had doubts about the strength/stability of the gate with this extension and it initially appears that way during assembly. However, once it's put in place and tightened it's very sturdy and stable.
Great gate for keeping my Grandson safe! I bought several sizes of extensions to move the gate where I needed it. I do wish they were a little sturdier across the top when the bottom is up against a baseboard. Sometimes it is shaken and becomes out of alignment rather easily.
Was given a white Chelsea Xtra-Tall baby gate as a shower gift. I was looking forward to putting it in front of the stairs, but it was too small (not wide enough). Thankfully the website offers extensions in every size imaginable. It was easy to install and works great, but my only complaint is the white extensions are constantly out of stock so I had to break down after a month and get a black extension. Looks a little odd but works just as well.
Ordered the whole gate assembly with extension and it exceeded expectations. Very attractive, fairly easy to assemble by one person and keeps my four dogs away from my currently bedridden husband. No breaches at all. Easy to open and close, trickier with one hand and loaded tray.
I needed a very large gate for a very strong dog who esapced, knocked over or jumped over every other gate we had before, the extensions allowed us to limit her to her the kitchen area of the house only, she has yet to knock it down after many attempts of ramming it with her body, also you do not have to apply hardware into your walls its mounts right against the wall and does not leave any marks at all. Would recommend for anyone who has a large opening that needs gate off, they are also super easy to install!
Received the item promptly, but the space between the bars is bigger than that of the main piece. I am using this extension to enable me to seal a big opening and block the cats from entering the other quarter of the house. The cats are not able to squeeze through the main gate bars, but they can do it through the extension.Overall, the extension connects to the main gate smoothly, it would work great if the purpose is to block dogs or other bigger pets.BTW, I tried 30" high gate first, my cats jump right through, so I searched for higher gates, and found this one, 39.5" high, I thought the cats wouldn't be able to get over the gate. Somehow, they did manage to get over the gate, not jumping over the gate though. In the end, I put vaseline on top of the gate, ...
