This is my first experience with this type saw. I bought it for working with plastic styrene and light wood stock. for constructing scenery kits for my model railroad. It took some trial and error to choose the proper speed for cutting different materials. I find the feature of being able to use the saw without the platform very handy.I was disappointed that, although the platform has for two miter tracks, no miter gauge is available from either Lowes nor Dremel. I broke several blades during my experimentation with 1/2" wood stock, mostly because I tried to hurry the work. Replacements were not available from my local Lowes, but were available on-line.Overall, I am happy with my purchase for the light duty work I perform.

A good machine, useful in the workshop, but the Instructions are very poor. many pages of safety info but, for instance, two knobs on the outside of the main plate are not referenced at all. If you have the time to fiddle and test that is great,

The Moto-Saw is compact, easy to set up, and can be used just about anywhere. Keep in mind this tool is for small, maybe even very small, projects only. Comes with 4 each of the commonly used blades. However, the blades have no markings on them to distinguish them. And, other than telling you which blade is best for what, the manual has no pictures of the blades and offers no suggestions on how to tell one from the other. The only pictures of the blades are on the product carton itself. Cut out the blade pictures and store them with the tool. Blade changes are easy, but you need sharp eyes. Cuts precisely, but you should practice for awhile on scrap pieces to get it right. I bought this saw before investing in a grown up scroll saw. Good for mode makers
16 July 2021

I've only used this on wood up to 5mm so far but it's excellent at that. It clamps to the bench easily and is light enough to move out of the way. It's not intrusively noisy but I use ear protection. The extraction port might be in an awkward position but I just collect it all in my lap and then vacuum me. Bellows would keep the cutting point clear of sawdust and an led light would be useful, but that said it's probably not intended for extended use. For all that, I wouldn't be without it. For the model maker I think it's a worthwhile addition.

Mixed Feelings for this one
3 May 2013

I purchased the Moto-Saw mainly to complete a project that I had purchased from Ubild, a baby cradle. Their instructions told of how they did all the cutting for the project with this saw so naturally, I figured all was ok. The saw is unique and is easy to set up and easy to use any where in the shop. Just clamp and go. I never got the chance to use it in the hand held mode though. The wood in the kit I was using the saw on was 3/4" Maple. I though that maybe the wood was too thick but since the plan I was using stated they used this saw to complete, then it must be robust enough for the job.Now for the results. I got one rocker for the cradle finished and thought, "That went pretty good. Let's try another". I got one rocker for the cradle finished and thought, "That went pretty good. Let's try another". I started cutting the other rocker and about 1/3 of the way through, I noticed the saw seemed to want to cut on a curve and if tried to push the wood straight through the blade, it would really start shuddering and finally, the blade would break. Went through 4 blades before I finally said the heck with this. Started really looking at what was happening and figured out the lower holder for the blade was a piece of junk. I couldn't really see the top blade holder but the lower is made of plastic. Now, why in the world would you make something that is to hold a metallic object that is going to be reciprocating and vibrating and dancing all over the place out of plastic? I could see the piece well enough to see that it was already worn and was obviously not holding the lower end of the blade securely. So, I'm taking the saw back today and buying a real scroll saw even though I can't afford it but I need it. Well, this will be $89 store credit anyhow. This saw may work great on thinner wood; I don't think I would go above 1/2" and not use it on hard woods either. I still like the ease of use and lack of space the saw takes up but quality of construction leaves a lot to be desired. Ten dollars more on the price and make the bladed holders out of steel and not plastic.

Portable and easy to store
28 February 2020

Great little gadget. You can set it up anywhere or permanently secure it to a worktop. I have used it in the attic, shed and kitchen for quick and easy cuts. Once finished, it easily comes apart and gets stored in its protective carry case. All in all a great fret saw at a great price.

This is great
14 December 2015

This is a great small tool, it is so handy for lots of jobs. I have arthritis in both my hands and find it hard to saw by hand, now I have time on my hand i'm always looking for things I can do. After making two nest boxes I thought I would try my hand at a dolls house, so I drew a plan and looked for a tool to help me. I already owned a Dremel cordless and was very happy with the slandered of quality, at first I had trouble putting the saw to the plate but this was because my hands. It was so easy to use and before I new it I had cut the all dolls house out. By the end of the week I had put it together, then I started to make fittings for the inside. none of this would of been possible without my Dremel Moto-Saw. Thanks to ScrewFix I bought this tool

Vacation Moto Saw better than home scroll saw
19 September 2013

The Dremel Moto Saw was bought on vacation from Lowes on sale while visiting relatives to make a wooden project for them, and to leave the saw with them to use. It works better than my scroll saw at home. The shorter blade and construction seems to give better control than my home scroll saw that's in the mid-price range of scroll saws with blower and vacuum port connected to a vacuum. Moto Saw is clamped to a table in relatives' attic and no vibration or shaking and has a vacuum port. So far, it's cut 3/4 thick wood well. The sideways blade is a great feature for ripping wood lengthwise left to right since the saw throat is short. Now, I want a Moto Saw for home if it can be justified...For those who want a light, get a small lamp or portable OttLight to put near ... MoreThe Dremel Moto Saw was bought on vacation from Lowes on sale while visiting relatives to make a wooden project for them, and to leave the saw with them to use. It's not that noisy, but ear buds or ear sound protectors can be worn.Last year, I contacted Dremel to find out what happened to their past scroll saw discontinued and seen in books, and glad the Moto Saw came out. Lowes had Moto Saw $30 off list price, great buy! Where else can you get a scroll saw for $69, portable, in a carrying case like a small suitcase? Home scroll saw is too heavy to lift.

Works well.

Great piece of kit, the only issue I have with it is the storage case - really fiddly to return it in place and then close the lid..... Dremel make some good gear but the case sucks.....As usual, Toolstation fail in supplying replacement blades - so many things they sell without thinking about the consumable items; I bought a bench sander and they don't stock the circular abrasive pads.....
