If it lasts as long as my Dualit toaster it will be excellent value - my toaster is 41 years old and as good as new! I love the classic style too.. an uncluttered statement piece and beautifully crafted/finished. On a practical level - It actually boils the water as opposed to bringing content 'to the boil'. The user guide is thorough and informative. The fact that it's repairable is excellent too. As a constructive comment I do find it difficult to see the cup water content indication possibly because my view is from a above as opposed to level with the indicator(?).

Bad plastic taste in boiled water even after 4 months

If you are planning on buying this kettle - beware - read the problem reviews thoroughly, sadly all true.I have what seems like universal faults with my kettle now too - i.e. first on/off switch fails to work - I literally have to stand with my finger pressing it down or it flips up & turns off - & now leaking very badly with every boil!Like others, I was attracted to this kettle because of its looks, it's very classy, and because of the brand, Dualit have a good reputation which has badly let its customers down with this kettle. It is a fault they are aware of but chose to ignore which clearly states the company has no pride in the integrity of its manufacture or customer service.I, for one, will never buy from them again.Shame on Dualit!

Dualit Kettle
26 November 2022

I was recommended this brand of kettle. I chose the 'whisper' boil as have an open plan kitchen/living area. I wouldn't say it was 'whisper' boil but definitely quieter than my previous rapid boil kettle. Great product I'm very pleased with it. I live in a hard water area so advised to look after the kettle and regularly descale it and it should last. The product isn't cheap but worth paying more for a quality product. I would recommend.

Great Quality Kettle
1 October 2022

I bought this quality kettle with money I got for my wedding. The Dualit kettle is very stylish, sturdy and made of stainless steel which is easy to keep clean. It boils really quickly and quietly. My old kettle beeped when it finished boiling and it also lit up the fill line, I do miss those features but I think the idea of being able to replace the element/change colours of the kettle is an ingenious idea. Overall the kettle is top quality and looks like it is built to last for many years.Fantastic service from John Lewis as always and at a competitive price too.

Not Long Lasting Keetles
27 January 2023

We have had 2 Dualit kettles in 6 years.First keetle we had was the jug design, this just stopped working after 3 years, at the time it was under a lot of use as I was a career for my father and he drank a lot of tea.We gave the benefit of doubt to the kettle not withstanding longevity as other less expense brands we had purchased over the years, to excess use.We liked the design of the classic so purchased this along with the toaster. It was being sold as a silent kettle, we had recently moved to an open plan house so silent is what we required in our kettle design, unfortunately we had to return it as it sounded like concord was taking off in the kitchen. We stuck with the same design and the replacement was, indeed silent. Now, Yet again after 3 years this ... MoreWe have had 2 Dualit kettles in 6 years.First keetle we had was the jug design, this just stopped working after 3 years, at the time it was under a lot of use as I was a career for my father and he drank a lot of tea.We gave the benefit of doubt to the kettle not withstanding longevity as other less expense brands we had purchased over the years, to excess use.We liked the design of the classic so purchased this along with the toaster. It was being sold as a silent kettle, we had recently moved to an open plan house so silent is what we required in our kettle design, unfortunately we had to return it as it sounded like concord was taking off in the kitchen. We stuck with the same design and the replacement was, indeed silent. Now, Yet again after 3 years this design has mall functioned beyond repair, this time with a leak at the water gage.Once I forgave, twice Not a repeat buy again.Nice designs, but they just do not last .Very disappointed at the price we paid for what we believed to be a long lasting device. We will now be buying another manufacturer. If you want it to be a show off kettle buy it, if you want longevity for your money buy another brand.3 STARS 1 FOR EACH YEAR OF USE

Stylish and solidly built
16 February 2023

Bought to replace a previous Dualit Kettle as the element had failed and was not repairable. This model cost more, but can be repaired should a critical component fail, in the same way that the classic toaster can, so hopefully more sustainable. It feels a lot more solid than previous models we've had, it is nicely balanced in the hand and it pours really well. Only negative is the lid ( hence only four stars), which is hinged to one side, but pulled open from the centre. Not exactly awkward, but not as ergonomic as it could be. Also, for this price, it would have been nice if it had two temperature settings, as some other premium kettles have.

Stylish looking kettle
1 October 2022

I really love Dualit products and in particular their kettles and toasters. I bought this as a gift for my parents and they think it is a fantastic replacement for their previous kettle and looks great in their kitchen. The capacity is great and it is not too noisy (compared to some other previous models of Dualit kettles). You have to lift the lid by pulling on the plastic handle/ring at the top (there's no button to automatically release the lid), which I thought would be an issue after the kettle has boiled (for example, hot to touch) but my parents have said it is absolutely fine and not a problem at all. It is a pricey kettle, but I find that Dualit products have good durability, so it should last for a long time.

Waste Of Money
12 March 2023

We bought this kettle in June 2020 from JL. We thought this was a good quality kettle from a British company. We thought it would last many years. Now out of warranty the on switch keeps tripping. We wrote to JL and they told us its out of warranty (we knew that) but was hoping for some more consideration. We then wrote to Dualit who said de-scale it, that we should descale it regularly. We don't have hard water in the NW. Or they said, send it to us we will fix it and bill you £57! Take my advice and a DONT BUY THIS KETTLE.

Well designed and attractive kettle
20 February 2023

I'm generally very happy with this kettle. Although at the more expensive end of the market it is an attractive item and very well designed . It boils quickly and pours well without drips (seems like a basic thing but our previous kettle had a tendency to drip). I can't comment on the long term reliability but it seems very well made and the ability to replace the element is a bonus. The one negative is the noise, it is described as whisper quiet, in short it is not. While no more noisy than our previous John Lewis kettle it is quite loud.
