I have used the product to restore an Auckland bungalow over the last 3 years. By far the best product l have ever used and l have tried many. Ideal for old native timbers that have been stripped completely. Best to sand first coat then light sand second and very light sand third coat. Amazing finished surface ready for top coat

I first purchased this paint over 6 years ago when I started renovating a 50+ year weatherboard house. I was determined that this exterior paint job would be the last I would have to do as each year that passes it gets more tiresome at the top of an extension ladder.Every weatherboard - and I do mean EVERY - had the existing paint burnt off back to the bare timber. The weatherboards were then sanded and given a coat of DULUX 1 Step. Holes, cracks and joints were filled and sanded and a second coat of 1 Step was then applied. Those 2 coats alone made the house look brand new. 2 top coats of DULUX Weathershield Gloss finished the job off perfectly. Now that was over 6 years ago and the exterior walls today look like they have just been freshly painted. Thanks DULUX for a terrific, professional product.

Very thick, went through it faster than expected. Doesn't like to stick to Gibstopping, a little nervous about how long it will last before it starts peeling off the joins. All done professionally but have seen it chip off when lightly sanded, only on the paint ready GIBstopping though.

Have avoided oil based paints for the last 30 years. This however clearly shows how things have developed. Spreads well, doesn't run and dries quickly. Top coat now looking fantastic in full gloss thanks to the under coat.
I needed to buy this to prepare a wall for wallpaper to cover imperfections. Yes, it was a thicker type paint, best suited to a roller. I was so impressed I used it on the other walls where I had removed timber rails and wallpaper. Im no plasterer, but did a pretty good job. So one coat of this over the repaired areas after being filled and sanded made my work truly professional! I’d buy this again for sure just as a primer and base coat , magnificent! Work reasonably quickly over still moist edges with roller. If it gets a dry to quick it can become a bit rough when dry, sanding this solved that though.
Yep, this is paint, I will tell you in 10 years if it is any good..From an now perspective it goes on OK but leaves clear brush marks. I know this is an undercost so hopefully the top coat will hide this.I have used other paints in the 'professional' range. These professional paints tend to be oil based and have a much greater tendency to run so you have to be patient and a little more careful. That said the the finish is far superior and I find I can look at it afterwards and he content with the results. Not so sure with this stuff.. As I say, not used the top coat yet
Good at hiding tannins and stains but prone to paint blistering in the sun. On closer inspection it’s this undercoat that comes off the surface.I used it on Jarrah, brand new pine and H3 timber. I always lightly sand and clean and paint on dry wood so pretty sure it is not the surface prep that’s to blame. Does not happen with 3 in 1 water based Taub… but on H3 it is recommended to use oil first.
I'm new to renovating and initially tried the british paints version for some internal walls. I saw this on sale and swtiched. I will be continuing to use this product as it is a lot better. It's a little thicker so perhaps you may use more but the coverage is great. Combined with the Hayden trade microfibre rollers with two undercoats of 1 step prep walls and ceilings look like they're finished with minimal streaks. Waterbase cleans up well and haven't had any issues with bubbling. Based on other reviews on this page, I'll be using on the weatherboards this summer and trialling with a sprayer.
This product is quite expensive but it really does the job and for this reason represents good value for money. Provides great coverage and is effective in sealing in tannins in the timber. Water-based clean-up is a real bonus. You get what you pay for. .
Should a primer/sealer be glossy.....I put this on a small watermark on ceiling to stop bleeding. It dries quick but finishes glossy...I had to apply 4 coats of flat ceiling paint to hide it..it's still showing through slightly...don't use it unless you want lots of work...
